"Sis, you just said…"
Shen Lingyin latched onto the most crucial words. Scratching her head, she asked, "It sounded like you said, 'then wouldn't both of us sisters be… by him…' What was that?"
"I said, your idea isn't bad, but you have to be careful. What if he bullies you and I have to co save you… That man is incredibly strong. The two of us would be no match for him, so wouldn't we both just end up being taken advantage of by him?" Shen Lingxue replied, racking her brain to co up with a reasonably plausible explanation.
"Mhm, that makes sense." Shen Lingyin nodded thoughtfully.
When the two sisters arrived at the cafeteria, the company employees all greeted them warmly.
Holding their trays, both won subconsciously scanned the room for Jiang Xinghai.
To their surprise, Jiang Xinghai was already surrounded by a group of security guards, all chatting cheerfully.
"It looks like Jiang Xinghai has adapted to this job quickly. Let's eat over here," Shen Lingxue said with a relieved smile.
'That guy…' Shen Lingyin muttered under her breath.
The image of Jiang Xinghai examining her leg earlier flashed through her mind, and her cheeks flushed faintly red.
Not long after, lunch ended. Shen Lingxue and Shen Lingyin had just returned to the office when Jiang Xinghai arrived as well.
"President Shen, I ca to give you a report earlier but was interrupted by Second Miss Shen. I'd like to make my formal report now." Jiang Xinghai walked over slowly and explained the situation with the new Head of Security, Xue Gui, including the formal assessnt scheduled for tomorrow.
"Alright, you've handled it well."
Shen Lingxue smiled appreciatively. "Keep up the good work. I'm entrusting all security matters to you."
"No need to be so formal. Protecting you and the Shen Family is my duty."
Jiang Xinghai smiled and turned to Shen Lingyin. "Of course, I'm also responsible for Second Miss Shen's safety."
"Who needs your protection? Don't be so full of yourself."
Shen Lingyin shook her small fist at Jiang Xinghai. "I have a background in dance and I've practiced judo for several years. The average man can't push around."
"Alright, alright, it's ti for our afternoon nap."
Not wanting her sister to interact with Jiang Xinghai any further, Shen Lingxue took her arm and headed toward the private suite.
Suddenly, she sensed soone following them. It was, of course, Jiang Xinghai.
"What do you think you're doing?" Shen Lingxue asked, one hand on the door.
"Didn't you say it's ti for a nap? I'm here to sleep," Jiang Xinghai said with a perfectly straight face, placing his hand on the door.
Shen Lingxue's lips thinned, and her gaze hardened. "There's only one bed in there, just enough for Lingyin and . Where do you expect to sleep?"
"Exactly! n and won should maintain a proper distance. Are you so kind of toad hoping to eat a swan?" Shen Lingyin was even more blunt, glaring at Jiang Xinghai.
Jiang Xinghai stared speechlessly at Shen Lingyin, desperately wanting to roar, 'You're in my bed!'
"Go sleep on the sofa." Shen Lingxue, who of course understood the intent in Jiang Xinghai's eyes, quickly shut the door.
'If my sister hadn't co today, I might have actually let him have his way!'
「2:00 PM.」
Shen Lingyin stayed behind to continue organizing files.
As scheduled, Jiang Xinghai and Shen Lingxue drove to the AM Wellness Center.
"Yanyun is being so mysterious. What on earth is she planning?"
Shen Lingxue sat in the passenger seat, gazing at the passing scenery, still unable to figure out the "surprise" Su Yanyun had ntioned that morning.
"Why waste ti thinking about that? Wouldn't you rather think about sothing happy?" Jiang Xinghai teased as he drove.
"Lately, other than you curing my father's chronic illness, there hasn't been much to be happy about," Shen Lingxue said, shifting in her seat to glance at Jiang Xinghai's profile.
"We were both pretty happy that one night, weren't we?" Jiang Xinghai said, deciding to drop a bombshell.
"You…"
Shen Lingxue's elegant brows knitted together as she glared furiously at Jiang Xinghai. "You have the nerve to ntion that? Don't you ever bring it up again."
Her eyes blazed with fury, like the brightest stars in the night sky, making it impossible to et her gaze.
"In any case, you're already my woman. No need to be shy," Jiang Xinghai replied shalessly.
"Though we may have acted as husband and wife, I will never admit to being your woman. That night happened against my better judgnt, as you well know." Shen Lingxue's delicate cheeks flushed, resembling an early sumr sunset and stirring one's affections.
Jiang Xinghai nodded and smiled. "Then I'll just have to work hard to win you over and earn an encore."
"Jiang Xinghai!"
Shen Lingxue was genuinely angry now. She reached out and pinched the soft flesh on Jiang Xinghai's waist. "Didn't I tell you never to bring this up again?"
Her high-bridged nose and delicate lips looked even more captivating when she was angry.
"Alright, fine, I won't ntion it again," Jiang Xinghai said, his gaze fixed on Shen Lingxue, montarily srized.
When Shen Lingxue was angry, her body language was full of power, and her voice beca even crisper and more lodious.
Her tone was so full of emotion that Jiang Xinghai found his own feelings stirred in response.
"Watch the road. Don't get distracted," Shen Lingxue warned, noticing the particular look in Jiang Xinghai's eyes.
Jiang Xinghai snapped back to reality and focused on driving.
When their car arrived at the AM Wellness Center, the scene that greeted them instantly filled them both with anger.
