"A Martial Arts Lord?"
Jiang Xinghai lay in the back seat with his eyes narrowed. "Elder Xue, in your opinion, what level of strength does it take to earn the title 'Martial Arts Lord'?"
"A Venerable! Soone who has surpassed a Grandmaster," Xue Zhong quickly replied.
Jiang Xinghai gave a lazy wave. "A Venerable can be honored as a Martial Arts Lord? Heh heh heh... I'm going to take a nap. Just wake when we get there."
"Er..."
Sitting in the front passenger seat, Xue Zhong was completely stunned.
'A Martial Arts Lord who's surpassed a Grandmaster, and Jiang Xinghai isn't the least bit afraid?'
He pulled his gaze away from Jiang Xinghai and glanced at Ma Long, who was driving.
Ma Long's face also showed a state of shock.
'He had thought Jiang Xinghai possessing the cultivation of a Grandmaster was terrifying enough.'
'But to face a Venerable and still be so dismissive... just how strong is he?'
He asked in a low voice, "Elder Xue, you ntioned earlier that you wanted to ask a few old friends for support. Could they also be Venerable-level lords?"
"Only one of them is, and I'd have to bring a hefty gift just for a chance to persuade him," Xue Zhong said, clicking his tongue.
He held a high position in the National dical Hall, so he naturally had a good relationship with the Martial Arts Departnt.
It wouldn't be difficult for him to ask an expert from the Martial Arts Departnt to step in and solve his own problems.
However, that was limited to his personal affairs.
If he wanted to ask them to help Jiang Xinghai, he would naturally have to bring a generous gift and make the request in person.
"I trust Brother Hai," Ma Long finally said.
Xue Zhong nodded silently. He could only place his hopes on Jiang Xinghai.
Afterward, the two exchanged a look and fell silent.
This trip to Central State was turning out to be a mixed bag.
RUMBLE...
Along with the howling wind, a few claps of thunder rolled across the sky.
At 8:30 PM, a thunderstorm arrived right on cue.
「Central State, the He Family estate.」
From the entrance to the main hall, every spot, both seen and unseen, was guarded by n in identical black short-sleeved shirts.
Inside the vast main hall, two bodies were laid out. They were none other than the He Family bodyguards, He Wu and He Liu, who had been killed by Jiang Xinghai's slap.
"A Fifth-Grade Master, killed with a single slap. The perpetrator must be in the realm of a Grandmaster."
The He Family Patriarch, He Wanshan, sat in a Grandmaster's Chair, his expression utterly frigid.
"Father! Even if he's a Grandmaster, he must die!" a square-faced, bare-chested man bellowed, standing in the middle of the hall with veins bulging on his furious face. "Ruining Zixing ans ruining the He Family's future! That Jiang Xinghai brat dares to co to our door? His arrogance is beyond belief!"
"He Lei, shut your mouth!"
He Wanshan suddenly roared, "I will be passing the position of Patriarch to you soon. How can you be so hot-tempered and reckless? It's completely undignified! How will you lead the family in the future?"
"Father..." He Lei clenched his jaw but said nothing more.
"Jiang Xinghai gravely injured my grandson, sealing his own grueso fate. Since he has the cultivation of a Grandmaster and still dares to visit our He Family, he must have other tricks up his sleeve. We absolutely cannot let our guard down. Do you understand?" He Wanshan said, his words slow and deliberate.
He Lei nodded heavily. "Father, I understand. But I hope that when he arrives, you'll let be the one to deal with him!"
"You only recently beca a Grandmaster. For this battle, you will stand aside and observe. Let teach him a lesson," He Wanshan said in a deep voice.
"Father, you must be careful as well," He Lei nodded again.
"Hmph! Even if my strength is insufficient, you think I'd let him act so arrogantly?"
He Wanshan glanced at the ti, his voice growing even colder. "Your mother left overnight to hire the Butcher. She should be back by now."
"The Butcher!"
He Lei's eyes lit up. "Hahaha! If that's the case, I understand."
'Yama, one of their Central State's Venerables!'
'Although it cost a great deal to hire him, it's worth it just to be on the safe side!'
"Have the scouts reported back?"
A bloodthirsty glint appeared in He Wanshan's eyes as he stared out the door at the sky.
Outside, the thunderstorm seed to be growing more violent.
"I'll go ask again." He Lei glanced at the storm outside, seemingly worried that if Jiang Xinghai didn't show up because of the weather, it would be a problem.
「A short while later.」
He Lei rushed back to report. "Father, ten minutes ago, scouts at the highway entrance spotted Xue Zhong, who is as famous as Mother, entering the Central State district. According to Mother, Xue Zhong has an unbreakable bond with Jiang Xinghai. It's highly likely they're in the sa car."
"Excellent!" He Wanshan was relieved.
Suddenly, a lean, wiry old man in his sixties flickered into existence in the hall.
The man's eyes seed vacant, yet they held a sharp, piercing glint.
The mont He Wanshan and his son, He Lei, saw him, they rushed over.
"We respectfully welco the Butcher."
The posture of He Wanshan and He Lei was extrely humble; they were bent over at a near ninety-degree angle.
A gentle wisp of energy suddenly washed over them, and the father and son instantly felt refreshed and clear-headed.
"Old Nong gave a Blood Ganoderma, so I've co to help you kill one person. A fair trade. No need for formalities."
This man was none other than the Butcher, one of Central State's Venerables.
As his voice faded, his figure vanished once more. "Throw a cup as the signal, and I will appear."
Just then, Nong Cuiru entered the hall, her steps unsteady as she was supported by He Si. "The Butcher's strength has advanced again, reaching the Venerable Second Layer! Tonight, Jiang Xinghai won't be able to escape even if he grows wings. He is sure to die!"
