As one of the main marketplaces of the Luminous Veil, rmaid’s Grotto was naturally guarded by more than one mber. In fact, there were over a hundred Rank 6 Divine Warriors, twenty Rank 7 Divine Knights, and two Divine Lords overseeing the place.
Considering the marketplace’s economy was crucial to the Luminous Veil’s developnt, it would be strange not to have this much security to maintain its protection and order.
The scar-ridden rmaid with golden hair was simply the unlucky one among the twenty Divine Knights to be chosen to deal with Vaan.
At that mont, the two Divine Lord mbers of the Luminous Veil were casually atop a tall coral tower that overlooked the entire marketplace. Specifically, their attention was on a single tent within the mass of small businesses.
They had received orders from the higher-ups to only go through the motions of troubling Noble Vaan if he visited their territory; they only needed to act superficially. Their Faction Leader didn’t want to be Noble Vaan’s enemy or offend the other parties. As such, they ca up with this idea.
For that reason, the two Divine Lords selected the scar-ridden rmaid as the most appropriate person for the task. Everyone knew she was quite reliable with her fists, but not so much with her words.
Not only did they send her to deal with Noble Vaan, but they even made a bet with each other over it. Moreover, the stakes were quite considerable—100 years’ worth of their monthly wage would be given to the other party if they lost the bet.
Divine Lord Nerevos bet on Divine Knight Corvessa failing the task in an odd number of seconds, while Divine Lord Eryndor bet on an even number of seconds. The fact that the two Divine Lords didn’t even bet in minutes showed how little faith they had in her.
"My Lords, Da Corvessa entered the tent at 93 seconds," a Peak Divine Knight at the side inford them after stopping the counter.
"93 seconds..." Divine Lord Nerevos softly uttered before glancing at Divine Lord Eryndor beside him with a big grin on his face. "Lord Eryndor, what kind of number was 93 again?"
"93... 93 is an even number, right?" Divine Lord Eryndor asked, looking quite innocent yet serious.
Divine Lord Nerevos’s expression quickly fell as his blood pressure rose. He angrily pointed his finger at Divine Lord Eryndor and barked, "Eryndor! I’ve seen cheating before, but I’ve never seen soone as shaless as you!"
"Kekeke, you have to be shaless to survive in Undertide, don’t you agree?" Divine Lord Eryndor calmly smiled in response. Shortly after, he mumbled, "Anyway, it’s only 100 years’ worth of resources. Why so serious? We shouldn’t let this little bit of resource hurt our friendship."
As Divine Lord Eryndor said that, he took out a spatial ring containing the agreed amount of resources and offered it to Divine Lord Nerevos in an unconcerned yet forthrightly manner.
However, when Divine Lord Nerevos tried to take the spatial ring from Divine Lord Eryndor’s hands, he was t with resistance. Evidently, Divine Lord Eryndor was reluctant to part with it, contrary to his words and expressions.
Divine Lord Nerevos had to expend so effort to pry the spatial ring from the other party’s hand. Only after he confird the agreed amount of resources within the spatial ring did he relax his frown.
...
anwhile, Vaan continued to massage the scar-ridden rmaid nad Corvessa as her lodious voice resounded throughout the tent under the tender care of his nimble hands.
Within minutes of utilizing the Heavenly Massage and confirming the comprehensive technique’s effectiveness on a foreign race, Vaan made an amazing yet unsurprising discovery.
As he stimulated Corvessa’s body and opened her pores, rich amounts of pure mana gushed out in the form of tiny debris mixed with sea gri and impurities. The pure mana that the body had failed to absorb had congested for many years, obstructing the body’s innate ability to absorb pure mana through the skin.
After the pure mana debris separated from Corvessa’s body, they seemingly lost their cohesion strength and began to loosen their bond, dispersing into the environnt. Even the sea gri and impurities they were mixed with could not keep them together.
At the sa ti, the dispersed mana did not escape far before getting absorbed by Vaan and Corvessa. A look of understanding flickered in Vaan’s eyes while Corvessa revealed her surprise amidst the sea of pleasure drowning her.
’So that’s how it is,’ Vaan realized.
The reason why the denizens of the Myriad Sea God Palace mostly relied on filtering-type gathering formations and the consumption of magical elixirs to absorb pure mana had little to do with the tight bond between pure mana and seawater in the environnt and more to do with the obstruction in their body.
In normal circumstances, the rich amount of pure mana in the Holy Land could have helped all denizens of the sea evolve into Divine Beings simply by existing. They wouldn’t even need to work hard on cultivation at all.
However, the Holy Land’s richness and purity of mana was like a double-edged sword—While it had an obvious advantage, it also possessed a hidden disadvantage.
Since most of the sea denizens were exposed to such richness and purity of mana from birth, their undeveloped bodies couldn’t keep up with their bodies’ natural absorption, resulting in congested and clogged pores.
Considering sea denizens didn’t quite have the sa concept of hygiene as land dwellers, the problem of pore congestion beca more prevalent. In fact, the problem seed to be completely overlooked.
’Perhaps this is also the reason why the disciples are able to reach the divine rank quickly but find it harder to progress further through natural cultivation...’ Vaan mused.
As Vaan’s hands moved down to Corvessa’s lower body, the mana debris, sea gri, and impurity expelled from underneath her scales starkly increased in quantity. Clearly, the congestion in the lower half was more serious.
However, the effect of Vaan’s Heavenly Massage was too magical, able to break apart the tightly-rooted congestion and clear out the obstruction.
The once thought-to-be vulgar hands of pleasure and seemingly transford into the holy hands of god, seemingly capable of both healing and cleansing. As the Heavenly Massage operated, even the subtle charms of a law could be felt.
