As Vaan sensed death’s inevitable approach, he realized that he could not face it as calmly as he had imagined. Death was actually not new to him, considering the mories from his past reincarnations.
However, he had never experienced the concept of a truer death than true death.
Such a death wouldn’t just be the annihilation of his body and soul but also the very essence of his existence and connection to the world.
A destroyed body could be rebuilt as long as the soul survived, and even a destroyed soul could be revived as long as the origin source stored in the Astral Soul Realm remained intact.
However, if even the origin source stored in the Astral Soul Realm was wiped clean, what proof would be left of his existence or having existed at all?
All traces of his existence and all his marks on history would disappear. Reality itself would be rewritten without his na. Even to his loved ones, he would fade from their mories.
Essentially, he would be completely deleted from ti and space.
As such, even the reversal of spaceti would not be able to bring him back. After all, it couldn’t bring back sothing that no longer existed in the past.
Perhaps it was a mistake to seek the Grand Unit Human Clan. If they had never co to the Umbral Starreach Sector, they would have never been dragged into the depths of the Umbral Edge, where the situation was unclear yet full of dangers.
That said, Vaan had the feeling that even if he had stayed in the Myriad Sea God Palace, the Dark Horizon would have evolved in a similar way and found a way to drag him into it.
