The commander, the leader of the group, squeezed his horse with his legs, causing the mount to take a few steps forward. Pointing at Lynn, he asked, "Who are you?"

Lynn planted his sword in the ground, resting his hands on the hilt and standing in the stance of a knight-errant from Toussaint. "And who are you?"

"We are the royal troops of Redania. I now suspect you are a bandit who has infiltrated our borders. I order you to drop your sword imdiately! Otherwise, we have the right to execute on the spot any scoundrel who resists arrest!"

"This is clearly Terian territory. How could I have infiltrated your borders?"

The commander pointed his sword to the border marker on the right behind Lynn. "What Teria? Are you blind? Don't you see that border marker over there? You have crossed the border. The land you are standing on now belongs to 'the Just' King Vizimir of Redania. This is the Riverdale Province."

A rider beside him, impatient, blurted out, "My lord, should I run him through?"

"Hold on, not yet." The commander looked down at Lynn from his saddle. "You want to stand up for them? So heroic? So brave? You'd eat an oyster in its shell? Swallowing it with turpentine? You bow to no one? You only stand up for the innocent? So full of righteous indignation? Then let's see you in action."

The commander gestured with his chin. The three foot soldiers imdiately understood and grabbed the three civilians who had hidden in the house. One held a dagger to the farr's throat, another violently pulled the woman's hair, and the third grabbed the child, who began to scream.

The commander sneered, "Get off your horse and drop your sword, or else... slit that farr's throat."

The commander's words seed to be a signal.

No one saw how Lynn drew his bow and arrow. Nor did anyone see where he had hidden it before. As soon as the commander's words fell, the sound of arrows slicing through the air rang out.

Putt, putt, putt—

The three soldiers who were carrying out the commander's orders and threatening the civilians were all shot in the head, falling to the ground dead.

The commander was shocked, but before he could give a command, two more arrows ca flying. One pierced through his chainmail, and the other shot through his helt. The force of the arrows knocked him off his horse and onto the ground.

Before he died, he heard his n in a panic. Soone seed to be trying to help him up, and others were shouting around him. But he couldn't hear anything anymore. Darkness quickly swallowed his consciousness.

Five arrows had taken out four enemies, including their commander. Lynn figured this should be enough to make the enemy lose their minds and redirect their hatred toward him. Therefore, he didn't mourn the enemy commander for a second, imdiately turning and running.

After running a dozen ters, he looked back. Sure enough, the Redanians were no longer paying attention to the farr's family. They were gnashing their teeth and charging toward him on horseback. He turned and fired a few more arrows, but this ti, he aid at the horses, not the n. He couldn't appear too ruthless, or the enemies might get scared and run away, which would be counterproductive.

Although he was wearing plate armor, the levitation charm canceled out its weight, so he was essentially unburdened. Thanks to the Comprehensive Enhancent and Thunderclap perks, which were specifically for speed, Lynn's running speed was slightly faster than a warhorse.

But just then, the dallion around his neck suddenly began to tremble. Without thinking, he sidestepped, dodging a lightning bolt that shot past him from behind. Lynn turned and fired an arrow at the sorcerer in the group. The arrow accurately hit the space about half a ter in front of the man's head, where it was stopped by a magical barrier.

The other Redanians also took out their bows, but shooting from a horse was much harder than shooting from the ground. And this wasn't flat terrain; the bouncing was even more severe. Therefore, most of the arrows the Redanians fired were wildly off target and didn't even need to be dodged. He only needed to focus on avoiding the sorcerer's magical attacks.

With the two sides in pursuit, they quickly entered the ambush set by Keira and the Terian soldiers.

They heard Keira shout, "Fire!"

Arrows rained down from the side. The riders who were close behind Lynn were instantly mowed down like wheat in autumn. Several of them, both n and horses, were shot and fell.

"An ambush!"

The Redanians finally realized sothing was wrong. They all turned around, trying to flee. The sorcerer in the crowd seed to sense sothing and quickly ford a magical shield with both hands. But it was too rushed, and the magical shield could only protect his front.

But that was enough.

In the next mont, a burning fireball shot out from the forest. The fireball hit the magical shield with a roar, and the scattered sparks ignited two or three riders nearby. They seed to be made of kindling. The small sparks instantly set them on fire. They fell from their horses and rolled on the ground, trying to put out the flas, but it only made the fire burn hotter. Soon, they stopped moving.

The sorcerer had just let out a sigh of relief, but he seed to realize sothing and quickly cast a magical shield to his side. But it was too late. An arrow had already passed through before the shield could fully form and was now lodged in his neck. The sorcerer fell from his horse, trampled by a spooked warhorse. He coughed up a mouthful of blood, and it was clear he wouldn't survive.

Using the brief mont of his comrades' sacrifice, the remaining Redanians quickly fled in the direction they had co from. One of them looked around. He saw that the sorcerer hadn't followed. His heart sank. He knew the chances of the man surviving were slim, but he said nothing. At a ti like this, he could only prioritize his own life.

Suddenly, a tripwire was pulled up from the leaf-covered ground. The Redanians had no ti to dodge or even slow down. They could only watch as they ran into it and were tripped, their horses falling with them.

Seeing the Redanians all fall, the ambushing Terians rushed out from their hiding places. At this point, it no longer mattered whether Lynn and Keira participated in the fight. Even for an elite, a good warrior, the mont he was tripped by a tripwire, his fate was sealed. Reality wasn't a fantasy film, where a hero could quickly get back on his feet after being tripped.

They would even use their lightfoot skills to jump up from the horse before it fell. But these Redanians couldn't do that in reality, especially since they were all wearing armor. After being tripped, each of them was thrown for a loop and lost their ability to fight for a short ti.

Thus, the battle quickly ca to an end.

Except for a few survivors who were intentionally left alive, the rest were dealt with. Keira planned to take these n back to be handled by the professionals. Even if they refused to talk, the royal inquisitors of Teria had plenty of tricks and thods to pry the desired information from their mouths.
