Third Person POV
Loc Muinne.
...
...
"I think trying to debate about this won't lead anywhere," it was Thorne who broke the silence this ti.
"I agree. If soone really wants to deal with the dragons, let them deal with them. Just don't bring consequences to us in Skellige because of it," Bran said beside him. "If they want to be destroyed because of that, so be it."
That made so kings shrink back.
"Perhaps we don't have the authority to start a war, but this has alerted us about the threat in the north... we want to know about the dragons. We heard about a book made by you, Lord Madara..." Dijkstra said after asking permission to speak openly with the king of Redania.
That made Madara raise an eyebrow. It seed he knew about the books, but it didn't matter much; he was already going to release them anyway, so he decided to answer.
"Yes, it's true. When I entered the Valley of Dragons — which, by the way, I reached by air through a dosticated griffin — I gathered a lot of information about them while I was in the territory. With the help of the druid Mousesack..." Madara pointed to the Skellige bench, "...we made a book about dragons, better than any other record anyone has ever made in history."
Madara spoke, and that made many raise their eyebrows. Certainly, information about dragons would be useful.
That made many mages, scholars, and nobles imdiately seek for him to reveal this information, just by the gleam in their eyes staring at both Madara and Mousesack.
"Forgive if I am interrupting..." an elderly man raised his voice among the sorcerers, knights, and scholars. "I am the headmaster of the University of Oxenfurt and I would very much like to obtain such a book, Your Majesty."
He spoke without knowing the proper title to use for Madara. Madara was not a king. Even though he had married Ciri, not even she was formally a queen yet. Sothing more appropriate would be what Thorne called him: Lord Madara. But even so, he used the title of a king.
"We already have so copies. We can make them available to you," Madara said.
Obviously, he would only give the simple version of the book. He would not hand over the essential information, as he did with Tissaia, who kept the book as legendary knowledge.
There was no reason not to make the general knowledge available to the public.
"I believe the dragons are no longer a subject we should keep debating," Tissaia raised her voice. She did not comnt anything about the book, and that was good.
"I think we have heard a lot and have much to think about regarding what was said here today," the king of Redania said, with a calm and even wise tone.
"But enough about the past. I want this to be probably the last subject of this eting. We need to talk about the future of the North."
He said this while all the kings and queens straightened up, and their eyes imdiately turned to the blue banner with the three lions of Cintra.
"Cirilla Fiona Elen Riannon and Madara Uchiha, today you hold power over Cintra, and I do not see why you would not be able to conquer the kingdom, given what we have seen. Even so, you do not seem to seek to take what rightfully belongs to the heir, which makes question why. While you wander through the kingdoms of the North, you still leave Cintra in Nilfgaard's hands for years," the king of Redania spoke again.
Ciri imdiately exchanged a glance with Madara. Under everyone's gaze, it seed like only silent communication. No one knew about the conversation they were having without anyone noticing.
"We cannot do that now. Not at this mont," Madara said, breaking the silence.
"How not? Nilfgaard is raising an army again. We are about to begin another war," King Henselt of Teria said.
"Yes, we know that. But it's not as if we could take care of a kingdom right now. We have other concerns. Or have you forgotten that there is a portal in this world that connects to a dark dinsion, where there was almost a catastrophe in the middle of that war in Sodden?" Madara replied.
"I rember that. A dark creature with the power to resurrect the dead," ve said thoughtfully. "There were many witnesses who confird it, but we haven't heard anything about these creatures in recent years, nor about that breach in space you warned us about... Can you really tell us more about it?" she asked.
Madara looked at her and nodded. He simply reported about his battle against the skeletal creature known as a Lich in this world — even though it only seed like a myth — while he was a Vaith to the dark dinsion.
"I have so clues that there is a portal in Nilfgaard's territory, but I also managed to find a way to locate it this ti, since I encountered so creatures from that sa dinsion while I was destroying the demon's contract, before he beca enraged," Madara said, while everyone had different reactions.
"So you an we are not safe? Nilfgaard is not the only problem? There are dark creatures that want to destroy our world?" asked the king of Brugge, sowhat worried.
"Basically that's it. We cannot deal with Cintra now without handling these problems first."
"You deal with armies, dragons, demons, and dark creatures. Is there anything you cannot do, while we only have to deal with our own problems with flatterers in our kingdoms?" ve asked, laughing. She made it sound like a complint. Everything that had happened in recent years seed surreal. There were no historical records of such threats.
"Sotis I wonder if you are the one who attracts so much chaos to our world," she said at the end, still laughing.
Madara did not respond, while the other kings seed thoughtful.
"But then you intend to take Cintra one day, even if you have to deal with these problems?" the king of Kaedwen asked carefully.
"Obviously, Cintra belongs to , just as it once belonged to my grandmother," it was Ciri who spoke this ti. "Madara and I will have our kingdom back. I can guarantee that."
When she said that, Ciri's hand automatically went to her belly, but Madara stopped her from doing it, looking at her in surprise.
It was only an illusion, but when thinking about the future, Ciri, with her maternal instincts, imdiately made her want to hold her womb. She would practically announce that she was pregnant, and Madara had just prevented that.
She widened her eyes upon realizing her mistake and nodded.
Despite the strange gesture between the two, no one said much. However, a laugh ca from the queen of Rivia and Lyria.
"Beautiful words. You are certainly becoming more and more like your grandmother," she praised. "Since I already understand that you are an exceptional warrior. I would love to cross our swords soti."
"I will accept the challenge whenever you wish, Queen ve," Ciri said with a smile.
"This girl might even embarrass you, Queen ve. So I would be careful..." Bran's booming voice arose from the side, laughing. "Not even the greatest warrior of Skellige was a match for her."
He paused. ve did not seem offended by that; she only had a gleam of challenge in her eyes.
"Besides," King Bran continued, "these two are not alone. The n of Skellige followed them willingly. The alliance between Skellige and Cintra will always exist."
"As Bran said, I also remind all of you again: Sodden was saved by Madara twice. The entire North was saved by this man by preventing the black army from advancing. I hope the king of Teria also rembers that. After all, as much as Sodden helped us, your army was also saved, and that prevented Sodden and even Teria from being conquered by the black soldiers, who would not stop after taking my crown."
This quickly created an environnt full of whispers, as people spoke quietly, trying not to give their opinion out loud, but comnting with those they trusted.
Even the kings were whispering with their advisors.
Thorne saw this and turned his attention to the bench of Kovir.
"That also makes think... King of Kovir, wasn't it proven that you financed Nilfgaard years ago?"
That question made all the monarchs' heads turn to the bench of the country in the far northwest among the Northern kingdoms.
"Now we can discuss this?" Henselt said. "Tell , you fool: why did you sell death to the point of financing the enemy, just for profit?" he snarled.
Despite the pressure, the king maintained a calm expression, taking a deep breath. There was no use falling into despair there, although Madara could easily detect his anger and nervousness.
"I believed that this could make Nilfgaard stop being a threat to the North," he began.
"What is the point of that by financing the enemy?" ve said, narrowing her eyes.
"It's simple," he began eloquently. "I knew that Nilfgaard would never defeat Cintra, Sodden, and the other kingdoms there — Teria, Lyria... Although Cintra's defeat caught by surprise," he said.
"I planned that, with the loss of the war, Nilfgaard would be trapped in a great debt to Kovir. This would make the interest grow even more and place a rope around the empire's neck, where it would no longer be a problem for us Northerners."
Madara watched. So seed to consider the explanation, especially the advisors. He was throwing words into the wind, because that made no sense.
"Nilfgaard has always been a problem. That was why I acted in the shadows to try to place restraints on that empire and on Emhyr's ambitions. And now that they lost, they have a great debt with Kovir. They may raise their army again, but I myself limited them," he spoke as if he were the hero of the North.
"You're only acting according to how things unfolded. You didn't plan this. After all, Nilfgaard could have simply destroyed the kingdoms if I hadn't been there, and you could very well know that... Besides, the empire could choose not to pay you. As you yourself said, they were a threat and they don't care about the North. You sold because perhaps you didn't expect Nilfgaard could advance so far into the North to reach Kovir, but you were profiting from the other kingdoms and their destruction... You certainly would have had a great profit from the fall of Cintra, Sodden, perhaps Teria and other kingdoms further west," Madara said this ti.
"But you didn't expect that Nilfgaard's entire army would be destroyed. So don't co telling that you are a hero. You're just trying to wipe your ass in front of everyone," Madara added, mocking and not caring about using crude words.
"You..." the king of Kovir snarled.
"Anyway, you decide what to do with Kovir. I don't care. He can say that he is a hero, but I don't see it that way. You may agree with him or not. He may beco your enemy or even your ally, that doesn't matter in the end. But for Cintra, Kovir will never be an ally, it will never be your friend, and we will rember that recorded in the history books," Madara said.
"Kings and queens, we can keep calm," Tissaia suddenly spoke, while they were already about to retort. Perhaps a series of argunts and insults would begin. The king of Kovir was about to do that, but Tissaia decided to act. There would be nothing good in that kind of discussion.
She paused, ending all the whispers around the hall.
"There is one thing that interested . There is sothing in which I believe Lord Madara is right: we have a threat over our necks. That dark dinsion is sothing we must reconsider," she said, making a pause.
"But I think this is not the best place to talk about it, perhaps we should even call the sorcerers of Nilfgaard," she said, making the entire hall explode in reactions.
"Those damned ones?!" Bran snarled.
"I understand your anger, King Bran. But if what Lord Madara said is true, this is not a danger only to the North, but to the entire world. If the portal may be in Nilfgaard, we must inform them."
She made a small pause before continuing.
"That is why I propose another eting in three months... I invite all the sorcerers of the entire continent to discuss the dark dinsion in Aretuza, in a formal eting. I believe that sorcerers and mages can deal with this better than anyone."
She then looked directly at Madara. "If Lord Madara accepts."
Madara raised an eyebrow. That sounded very much like a possible tragic event of Thanedd, even though, in this tiline, many things had been altered.
Would there be the sa conflicts and betrayals?
But even so, Madara nodded. He was willing to speak with the sorcerers of the entire world.
