[ALPHA KILLIAN’s Point of View]

I knew it.

From the very beginning, since I went into this g*dd*mned place, I knew Dominic wouldn’t be able to go out of the Silver Crescent Pack alone.

Which made it more interesting because he didn’t just bring his wife, who swore he wouldn’t drag her into this hellish place, but also Devon and Diana, who were both enjoying looking around like they were having a small family picnic in the most dangerous forest of this f*cking continent.

I hated that I had to stay here and wait for three days just to make sure the place was clear of enemies, just as Dominic had requested. He couldn’t ask for the help of anyone in his pack, knowing the council had forbidden him, including his wife, to enter the Black Forest after what happened at the Wolf Altar.

He put everyone’s life in danger after Olivia and her minions of the black organization infiltrated the Silver Crescent.

But of course, no one from the council understood how severe the situation was. No one knew about the curse that their Alpha was hiding from them. No one knew that their pack leader was dying slowly, while all of them were still concerned about securing their position in their pack.

It must be difficult for Dominic’s Beta, Liam, who had to shoulder everything while Dominic was gone. Well, I had been gone from MoonStone Pack for so many weeks, but I knew what I was always doing.

My pack was not in such a level of threat, unlike Silver Crescent, which was unfortunate for Dominic, and I felt bad that he and Liam had to deal with it, while Dominic also had to deal with the curse that was slowly killing him.

But what’s sad about this was , seeing Samantha struggle as she watched her husband suffer in silence. Dominic could be doing his best to hide that pain from everyone. But we knew.

We all knew how excruciating it was. He lost weight. His eyes were dark from weeks of sleeplessness, and I feared that his mind would break before his body gave up if this continued.

If we all fail to destroy the source.

“Uncle Killian!”

It was Devon who saw first, and I waved my hand at the little boy. Samantha did her best to protect them, but no one can protect these kids from the fate that was waiting for them. They were part of this problem. They were the key to stopping this. Samantha and Dominic had to be strong to keep these kids alive.

The Alpha of Silver Crescent and I would never be friends, but I swore to myself that I would protect Samantha and her twins no matter what. And I am a man of my word. Brianne hated that I had to leave the MoonStone pack again. But I made it clear to her that what I was doing was not just helping a friend but also making sure that the Fang Trinity, the Black Claws, and the shadow creatures of the Black Forest would not destroy MoonStone and all the other packs that surround this f*cking forest.

As I folded my arms on my chest, Dominic’s annoyed look locked on my face, and in return, I gave him a wide grin and waved my hand at him, too, only to annoy him more. Just as I expected, he scowled at , which gave a sense of pleasure seeing him pissed in my presence.

His face darkened more the second he stood in front of while holding little Diana’s hand.

“I know this will happen,” I chuckled, and I saw how his cheek quivered in anger, just enough to suppress himself from snarling at in front of the kids. I just shrugged my shoulder at him and then continued. “Well, I guess we can’t do anything about it anymore. Let’s just hope we finish this fast and hope nothing disastrous happens.”

“Stop it for the love of God, Killian.” Samantha rolled her eyes at , and I understood that she and Dominic were both not in the mood for any sarcasm today. “We are here to end the curse. This is not a family trip.”

“Yeah! That’s what I am saying!” I smiled at her and then gave Devon a little high five, which made the little boy smile as well. “How are you and Dominic? You know he doesn’t like to bring you here.”

“I know you know that I would never let him go here alone, right? Stop pretending you’re surprised that I am here, Killian. You know very well.”

“Fine...” I sighed deeply as we all started to walk towards the cetery, straight to the collapsed mausoleum where Dominic and a giant shadow werewolf had last fought. “I am just saying that this will be dangerous, Samantha. And bringing the twins here?”

“They believe they can purify the curse,” she answered, a little skeptical, but her tone was saying that she believed her children could do sothing to destroy what was killing their father. “Devon and Diana want to help their Dad desperately, and I can’t say no to them when they know their father is dying, Killian. This is the only chance we have to end it. If we fail...”

I stared at Samantha’s face, and I saw how her eyes glimred with tears, no matter how much she tried to suppress them. That stopped from smiling.

Of course, she never wanted her kids to be there with them. It must be awful for her to bring Devon and Diana to a dangerous place like that.

But they were all desperate, and their options had narrowed into this difficult decision, which made feel awful for Samantha.

“I’m sorry,” I whispered to her as we both walked side by side, and I tried to keep up with her pace, which was a little faster because she was so frustrated about what was happening. “I wish there were other ways to do this.”

Samantha didn’t answer, and then I rembered sothing, so I fished sothing from the rucksack I was carrying on my back and then handed the bottles to her.

“Here. This is the Moongrass juice. It can temporarily protect the kids from the miasma and other poisons and curses that might be inside the mausoleum. This will help them be immune for an hour or so.”

Her eyes widened after she saw the potion, and then she took it gently from my hands, looking grateful that I was so concerned about her twins. “Thank you so much for this, Killian. You have no idea how much this ans to . I an, I am always scared about what would happen—”

“Nothing will happen. I assure you,” I replied to her with that steely and reassuring look on my face. “Focus on the kids, and Dominic and I will deal with the danger that might co. We will not let anything terrible happen to you, or Devon, or Diana. You hear ? I promise you that.”

“Why are you still helping us, Killian?” she asked with confusion, and emotions were swimming in her eyes. “Why are you still here?”

I couldn’t tell her the real reason, but it didn’t matter anymore. “Because I promised you I will make you and the kids safe. This is not just Dominic and the Silver Crescent Pack’s fight, Samantha. This is also for all the packs that surround this cursed forest. We have to work together to end this.”

She bit her bottom lip hard and then nodded at , still looking grateful for the potion that Brianne brewed for the kids.

But as we walked silently towards the graveyard, I saw Devon slip sothing into the pocket of Diana’s jacket and then turn to and put his finger on his lips as if asking not to tell her Mom about what he did.

I frowned. I didn’t know why it felt weird, and I suddenly turned nervous about what I saw, and I had to know what it was because I knew what Devon and Diana were capable of. I knew they could do sothing that might bring them into a deeper danger.

And that’s what I would never allow to happen.

What did he put into Samantha’s pocket?
