The Wolfless Luna's Revenge: Returning With His Secret Twins Chapter 243
[SAMANTHA’s Point of View]
I couldn’t believe it was over.
Well, maybe it was just one part of the larger disaster that would still happen at Silver Crescent if my husband and I did not take action to stop the Black Claws and the Shadow Werewolves from attacking the pack city. We had to take control of the situation while Liam tried to strengthen the defense after the giant shadow werewolves succeeded in destroying the northern wall.
But above all else, my husband and I had to ensure Devon and Diana were one hundred percent safe, and sothing like what happened that day would never happen again.
We couldn’t leave the kids. We couldn’t take our eyes away from them because we were certain that they were still the number one target of the enemies.
Black Claws and Shadow werewolves— people weren’t just interested in destroying and taking over the city. They wanted to kill the next heir of Dominic’s bloodline, not just because Devon and Diana ca from the Primordial Bloodline as well, but also because the twins are the future leaders of the Silver Crescent one day.
To end Dominic’s reign ans killing the twins. And they had to kill first for them to succeed.
After several hours of ensuring the walls were secure from the enemies who had retreated, Dominic told that I needed to return to the Pack house to rest after the exhausting fights I had while defending our ho and protecting my pups.
Dominic made sure that all my injuries and wounds were attended to by the healers and doubled the security around the premises while I took a short break and had to take a nap.
The quietness in the atmosphere was sothing new to . The sky was clear, and the sun was setting. Shadows in the room started to stretch as the sky began to darken and the lamps inside lit dimly, giving the room a solemn feeling.
A heavy sigh escaped from my lips as I looked around the room. My body was still aching every second I moved, and I had to get up from the bed to close the windows and get rid of the cold wind from the outside.
Approaching the window, I almost jumped when I saw a huge shadow jumping on it.
“My Goddess, Killian! Don’t scare like that!” My eyes widened as I gasped and recognized it was the Moonstone Alpha crouching on the window, grinning at like a little boy doing sothing mischievous.
“Sorry for my unannounced visit, Sam,” he smiled apologetically while leaning against the window, his sad green eyes staring down at , which puzzled because of the expression on his face. “I just need to see you for a bit.”
I frowned and started to feel worried. I stepped forward, closer to him, as I rested my hand on his hand. “Why? Did sothing happen?”
Killian shook his head gently and then looked down at my hand and smiled. “Nothing,” he answered softly and looked in the eyes. Emotions were swimming on them, but I wasn’t sure what they ant. “I just need to see you before I leave.”
“Leave?” My brows lifted because I never expected he would say that. However, I realized that he had been staying at the Silver Crescent for a long ti and could no longer ignore the problems that the Moonstone pack was facing without him being there. He was their Alpha. He needed to be with his people. And I couldn’t understand why the thought of him leaving this place saddened as well.
Maybe it was because he had been with in every problem I faced in this place. He had been with even after I left the MoonStone Pack. He always fulfilled his promise that he would protect and the kids no matter what. I had no idea how I could repay him for every sacrifice he made for .
A scary thought suddenly erged from my thoughts.
“Is it the curse?” I asked in panic as I looked down at his arm, which was still covered with dark veins. A sign that the poison of the curse was still destroying his body bit by bit.
“No. No, it’s not the curse, Sam. I need you to stop worrying for about that,” Killian answered as he sighed and then ran his long fingers through his dark, unruly hair. “I just need to go back to check for Brianne. She had been asking to go back, and I couldn’t because I had to make sure you and the twins got out of the Wolf Tomb alive and safe. I already told Brianne about everything that happened.”
I bit my lower lip and then lowered my stare. “Is she alright? How is she, Killian?”
“She’s safe. Away from the Black Claws and the Shadow werewolves.” Killian slightly smiled and then shrugged. “I asked her to co, but she doesn’t want to. I wonder why, but probably it was because of what happened when Olivia tried to deceive the council into believing Dominic was not fit to be Alpha of this pack anymore. I still bla myself that I failed to protect her from Olivia that ti.”
“We had no control of the situation, Killian. You know that. Everyone knows that. I have a feeling Brianne knew it too, and she understands. You’ve been doing everything you can to make everyone safe, Killian. You had been great, and I am grateful that I t you and you beca my—”
“What, Samatha?” his green eyes lowered to my lips when he cut off my next sentence, and I didn’t know why, but sothing ford in my throat the second he leaned down closer to my face.
I got confused for a second. Confused by the feelings that suddenly erged in my chest. What’s this? I shouldn’t feel that kind of tension between and Killian. We were both mated and shouldn’t feel this kind of connection. Why did it feel as if kissing him at that mont was the right thing to do?
No. This wasn’t right. It couldn’t be right.
These confusing feelings made it so difficult to breathe, and I had to step back or I might do sothing I would surely regret. I saw the sa reaction on Killian’s face as well, as he averted his eyes from and then awkwardly smiled.
“I’m sorry,” he whispered. His eyes turned outside as he watched the sky turning orange-red as the sun set to the west. “I shouldn’t have gone here.”
“No, Killian. It’s okay,” I was worried I hurt his feelings when I flinched away from him, and I didn’t understand why I was so concerned about him turning away from . But I had to ignore these strange feelings before they beca sothing that would complicate my relationship with Killian. “Thank you for telling before you go.”
“I have sothing for you, though.”
He gave a little box. “What’s this?” I asked.
Killian just smiled at and then raised his eyebrows as if telling to open it while he was there, so I imdiately pulled the ribbon and opened the box.
A soft gasp escaped from my lips.
“Where did you find this, Killian? I’ve been looking for this...” I asked him with teary eyes. It was a golden hairpin with carvings of a golden wolf. The last ti I saw it was when I left the Silver Crescent pack. It was Lena’s wedding gift for . I spent years of guilt thinking I lost this precious thing and accepted that I had completely lost it.
But Killian.... He found it!
“I found it in the attic when I investigated that crystal ball from Olivia.” He answered, looking pleased that he had made beam with that little gift. “I slled your scent on that thing and thought about giving it to you.”
“This is Lena’s wedding gift to , and I’ve been looking for this for so many years! Thank you, Killian!” I smiled so wide with tears brimming in my eyes. “It’s very important to because it’s from Lena.”
“Then I am glad I found it for you.” he wiped my tears with his thumb and then brushed his finger on my cheek. “There’s no reason to cry anymore, Sam. Everything will be alright.”
I gently nod at him and then smile. A hopeful smile like a prayer for the Moon Goddess to make everything alright—to keep the kids safe and everyone important to .
“Maybe you can stay for dinner tonight?” I asked. I didn’t understand why I suddenly thought of that. Could it be that I didn’t want Killian to go back to MoonStone yet?
“I wish I could stay longer, Sam. It would be harder for to leave if I stayed any longer here.”
He said those words as he gazed at my face with a look of longing. And then at my lips. My throat suddenly felt dry as Killian leaned closer once again, landed a kiss on top of my head, and then whispered so softly. “Take good care of Devon and Diana.”
“Of course,” I whispered back, almost like a breath, and then when I lifted my face, he was already gone.
“Is that Killian?”
I turned around sharply and saw Dominic walking towards with just a towel covering half of his body. His dark hair was still wet after he took a bath, and he slled of soap that wafted in the room.
Behind , I opened the drawer of my vanity table and put the hairpin carefully.
“Yeah. He just ca by to tell that Brianne wants him back at Moonstone.”
There was darkness over my husband’s eyes that made nervous as he closed the gap between us, trapping against him. I nervously stared into his hazel eyes as he studied my face, and then he cupped my flushed cheek.
“You don’t have to hide anything from , my love.” his lips brushed against my cheek as he gave soft, small kisses. “When will you be honest with about your feelings?”
