The Wolfless Luna's Revenge: Returning With His Secret Twins Chapter 256
[SAMANTHA’s Point of View]
I couldn’t sleep.
How can I find sleep when, each ti I close my eyes, I am haunted by the image of that child’s terrified face?
This afternoon, when I took a nap, I dread about that child again, but this ti, it was Devon being choked to death by the Black Claw guy. I was so terrified that I had no idea what to do. The surroundings suddenly turned pitch black, and chains appeared around my wrists, holding in place, not letting run towards my son to save him.
When I woke up, my heart felt as if it was going to explode. Tears stread down my face as I got up from the bed, my breath fast and shallow. I was so dizzy for minutes until I managed to calm down.
No. I couldn’t let that small, poor child die in the hands of the enemy. Despite Dominic’s plan that it was the best thing for to stay inside the walls and guard the pack and the kids, I don’t think the Black Claws would let go of the child if I weren’t there, as per their demand.
I had no other choice. As much as I wanted to stay with my children, my guilt just won’t let have any peace of mind while that child is in the hands of people who could kill him if we fail to give them the Moonlight Mirror, and if I don’t go with them in exchange for the child’s freedom.
At that mont, with my mind in a storm of fear and anger, I could think of nothing but going to the library to check out the replica of the Moonlight Mirror that the Black Claws had made. I wasn’t sure if this plan would work. But I had big faith that the Moon Goddess would help us save the child. And we would do anything to stop the Black Claws and the Shadow Werewolves from hurting people again.
We had to make them disappear from this land as soon as possible, or the Silver Crescent pack would suffer more from the war that would never stop, while our enemies were after and my children.
As I stepped inside the library, I imdiately felt the heavy power of the Moonlight Mirror as I saw it standing on the carved table in the midst of the massive room. It was quiet inside. The silence rang painfully in my ears.
“I don’t know what your plans are for ,” I murmured as I looked up at the glass do of the library, where the sky was clear and starry and the moon shone brightly up above . “But no matter what happens, I ask you to keep my babies safe. To keep that child safe and to find a cure for Killian and Dominic. I need you now. I need your help.”
Tears rolled down my face.
So many things happened. So many pains I and the children endured. I had no idea how much longer I could take such things anymore. Despair started to swallow inch by inch.
How are we going to recover from all the scars that Richard Bennette and Olivia had caused us? How could the Silver Crescent pack ever recover from all the damage that the Black Claws and the Shadow Werewolves did to my people?
From the corner of the room, I saw the fake Moonlight Mirror. I was skeptical about whether the plan would ever work because the object looked so lifeless at that mont. Unlike the heaviness of the power that the Moonlight was emitting, the replica was dull and suspicious, which made realize that Dominic and Killian’s plan was a la one.
“But we have to make it work sohow,” I said to myself as I traced the carved design on the replica of the Moonlight Mirror. “We have to. We have no choice.”
To my shock, I felt hands aggressively pinning against the wall, and my hands widened as soon as I realized the person towering in front of had a dark, deep frown on his face. His scent registered imdiately in my head.
“D-Dominic, what are you doing?”
“I should be asking it.” his voice was deep. Rough. His voice was almost a mix of a whisper and a snarl. My heart beat fast as our eyes t, and his gaze went down to my lips. All of a sudden, I felt as if my throat turned dry and I swallowed hard.
“I can’t sleep,” I whispered back; my voice sounded a little intimidated, which wasn’t good. I never wanted Dominic to think he could intimidate with his glorious looks. “I thought of getting so fresh air, but my feet led here.”
“You are not supposed to be in here, you know?” his eyes never left my face as he squeezed my shoulders gently. Seductively. “You are not allowed to roam inside the Pack Manor alone at this kind of hour, Samantha. It’s too dangerous.”
“Dangerous?” I raised one of my eyebrows as I t his burning gaze. “So you really believe that the Pack Manor isn’t one hundred percent safe anymore from the enemies?”
“You witnessed how they infiltrated this place so many tis already.” His frown deepened more, and I knew I had hit his ego a little harder there. “I can’t take any more chances, even after ordering Liam to double the security here.”
“I am fine. Don’t make it sound like I am a prisoner here because I will never let you.” My eyes turned sharp as I glared at him. “I am your Luna, Dominic. You should treat like your equal.”
“And as the Luna of the pack, your main duty is to protect our twins, Samantha. And I am not saying you are a prisoner here. I am f*cking worried those f*ckers would grab you here out of nowhere and take you away from .” His voice went sharp, and his eyes glinted red, his Alpha power showing while he bared his teeth at as if he was giving a warning not to fight him over it.
I couldn’t do anything, though, but scowl at him because I hated it when he was right.
“I hope you are not changing your mind again, Dominic.” I started to feel annoyed by that look of dominance on his face. “We both already agreed that we would do Killian’s plan and that I would go with both of you. We will save that child and go back to Silver Crescent as fast as we can.”
Dominic fell silent, and I started to feel nervous about it. He stepped away from , though. His eyes were solemn as he looked down at the floor with a sigh.
Thinking that he was starting to change his mind again, I opened my mouth to start an argunt, but both of us felt Killian’s presence as he entered the library with silent, slow steps.
“What are the two of you doing here? I’ve been looking for both of you all around the manor!” Killian waved his hand in frustration while glaring at both of us, his face showing clear annoyance. “Don’t you forget sothing?”
“Forget what?” I asked as I stepped away from Dominic. My heart was still racing in my chest from his sll, but the way his face looked as if he hated the idea that I was coming with them made a little disappointed.
“We are going tonight.”
Dominic and I both stared at him as if we couldn’t believe what he said.
“It’s not a full moon yet.”
“Why are we going to the full moon if they are expecting us already?” Killian smirked and then adjusted the thing that was around his wrists.
The marble-looking bracelet took my attention, though, so I asked. “What are those that you are wearing?”
“This?” he stretched his arms so Dominic and I could see it clearly. “Oh, Brianne sent this item to so I can protect myself from the curse. She’s worried I might lose my cool again and compromise the mission, so she made these for to make the curse in my body under control.”
With confusion, I watched my husband walk towards Killian. Killian, on the other hand, started to look weird at Dominic as he frowned at my husband and scowled. “What do you want now?”
Dominic didn’t say anything, but he grabbed Killian’s wrist and then took the bracelet off of him, which made Killian hiss, “What the f*ck do you think you’re doing?!”
“Dominic? What are you doing?” I asked, starting to feel confused, but he walked towards and then put the bracelet around my wrist while staring into my eyes.
“I know I can’t keep you here,” Dominic said to softly. There was no anger in his eyes, which I expected to show, but there was only gentleness that made my heart flutter a little. “But if what Killian said is true—that this thing can repel curses and other dark entities—then it should protect you, too. In that case, I will be less worried about you getting into danger.”
Killian and I looked at each other, and I gave him a look, as if asking if it was okay for to have the other bracelet, and he smiled and nodded to tell it was alright.
When we stepped out of the library, we all saw Diana and Devon waiting outside. I got worried because they were supposed to be sleeping at that kind of hour already.
“Diana! Devon!”
“Mom, we have sothing for you. To keep you safe.”
Diana handed a talisman that I had seen in Lena’s room before. “It wards off dark spirits and the curses. It will keep you safe, Mom.”
“Thank you, my babies!” I grabbed both of them and gave them a tight embrace. “Mommy will be back. I will be back to keep both of you safe. I love you both so very much!”
I lifted my face to look at my husband, and I saw a pool of emotions swimming in his eyes. I saw in them the promise that he would do everything to keep and the kids safe.
For a second, I thought I saw the talisman glow, but I got distracted when Liam approached us and took the kids back to their bedroom so we could proceed to the mission.
