“Fuck!”

Muen let out a curse and shot up from the water, his mind a complete blank.

What the hell?

Why did he black out again?

Why did his head, his stomach, and his ass all hurt?

Also—

Why was he in a river, and why the hell was he naked?

While he was still dazed, a low voice sounded beside him.

“You’re awake, Young Master Campbell.”

Muen turned his head and saw several burly n in knight armor, faces set and resolute, ringed along the riverbank, silently watching him.

The one who spoke—a particularly handso hunk in fine armor—reached a hand toward him, considerately saying:

“Co, I’ll pull you up.”

“Oh, oh.”

Standing in the river, Muen reflexively reached out, but halfway through he felt sothing was off.

He glanced at those hunks, then looked down at his bare self...

Hunks.

Spectating.

Naked body.

Ass hurts?

A few bad things linked together, and combined with certain firsthand experiences from his past...

Muen’s expression turned panicked in an instant. He clutched his chest and scrambled backward.

“You... what did you do to ?”

“What?”

The lead knight-hunk looked puzzled and frowned.

“We didn’t do anything.”

“Then why am I in a river, and why am I not wearing clothes?”

“Because...”

The knight-hunk fell silent a mont, his expression turning a bit strange.

“It was Her Highness Princess Celicia’s order. She told us to toss you in the river and give you a rinse... a thorough rinse.”

“Oh... is that so?”

Muen froze.

“Then why does my ass hurt!”

The knight-hunk’s face grew even stranger.

“That might be because, when we were leaving, Her Highness gave your butt a good hard kick.”

The knight recalled just now.

When his retainer knights lifted Muen and passed by Celicia, one of them, apparently displeased with that unrestrained, perfect perky ass of his, lifted his leg high and stomped down.

Fierce, precise, steady.

The pose and accuracy were so exquisite that even he, who had been steeped in martial technique since childhood, couldn’t help but inwardly applaud.

They had nearly snapped the stretcher with that one kick.

Thankfully, Her Highness hadn’t been /N_o_v_e_l_i_g_h_t/ wearing high heels at the ti—otherwise, the scene would’ve been too pretty to imagine.

“I— Is that so?”

Muen scratched his head, still a bit lost.

But when he carefully felt the lingering sensation on his butt...

Mm, it felt about the sa as the one to his stomach; it should indeed have been Celicia.

Thinking of that, Muen couldn’t help getting a little angry.

Damn it, it was just a tiny bit of teasing—did she have to go that hard?

One hit to the stomach wasn’t enough, she had to go for the ass too?

And she made him take a stark-naked bath in the river in this cold autumn weather?

Trying to murder her future husband?

Muen ground his teeth, then made up his mind.

Holding a grudge.jpg!

He’d pay it back double in the future!

“And you are...?”

“Royal Knights, Rose Legion Vice Captain, Lawrence Hawk.”

The knight displayed his badge, his expression turning slightly solemn.

“By His Majesty’s command, we are to escort Muen Campbell to the imperial palace.”

“To the palace...”

Muen blinked, finally catching up.

Right—there was such a thing...

Damn, he’d completely forgotten.

Sure enough, after that kind of thing, your mory really does drop.

“I see. I wronged you.”

Muen let out a breath, took Lawrence’s extended hand, and remarked with feeling:

“To invite just and they actually sent a vice captain like you in person—truly, I’m flattered.”

The Royal Knights had only four legions under them in total; a vice captain was one of the core figures and shouldn’t have needed to do such errands.

“No—given your status, a trip from is hardly out of place.

Besides, orders from above.”

“‘Above’? His Majesty?”

Lawrence pulled Muen up onto the bank, shook his head with a wry smile, and said nothing more.

With a light wave of his hand, the retainer knights behind him drew up curtains, closing them into a sealed space.

“Her Highness’s order was unavoidable. We offended you earlier.”

Lawrence apologized. “New attire tailored especially for your audience with His Majesty has been prepared, made by the Campbell family’s usual tailor. Please.”

“Much obliged.”

Muen nodded with a smile and stepped into the curtains.

A few minutes later, when Muen stepped out of the curtains in a close-fitting n’s formal suit, even Lawrence couldn’t help but silently praise him.

No matter what this duke’s son’s reputation might be out there, no matter how the outside world had been thrown into waves these past few months by the news that Princess Celicia and he would soon be engaged—at least in terms of appearance...

He really did match Her Highness.

...

The imperial palace.

With Lawrence leading, they passed unimpeded.

Only when they reached the inner depths did even he have to face questioning and inspection.

Muen, naturally, was no exception.

Even though the entire palace lay under a gigantic interdiction array where no magic could be used, without special permission, all weapons and magitech devices were strictly forbidden.

After disarming, Lawrence glanced back at him with an apologetic smile.

“The Tulip Legion has guard duty this month, so I have to follow the rules too.”

“Understandable,” Muen replied.

The two continued along the spacious corridor, walking deeper into the palace.

Muen looked around with curiosity.

From the mories in his head, he had co to the palace when he was little, but he’d been so young then that his impressions were extrely vague.

So the palace still felt rather new to him.

“It kind of feels...”

Muen drew back his gaze and asked, puzzled:

“Why is the palace a bit deserted?”

“That’s probably because... most people are still recuperating,” Lawrence answered.

“Recuperating...”

Muen’s expression shifted, and he imdiately realized.

Although all those “fragrant” episodes earlier had made the ti feel slow to him, in truth, the Silent Moon affair had only ended just one day ago.

At that ti, not only had he been struggling to save his senior, but the entire upper echelon of Belrand had been facing the terrifying pressure of the Silent Moon head-on.

One could even say their side was the true main battlefield.

“It must have been rough.”

“It was rough, but we won in the end, didn’t we?”

Lawrence spoke casually, but through that resolute face Muen could feel the exhaustion seeping out as if from the depths of his soul.

Muen’s eyes flickered.

To be honest, even now he couldn’t quite understand why His Majesty had suddenly summoned him.

On the day after such a major event wrapped up, it should have been precisely the busiest ti.

No matter how he thought about it, His Majesty’s move felt excessively hasty.

“Young Master Campbell, this is where I leave you.”

Lawrence suddenly stopped, turned, and smiled.

“Go past that corner and you’ll find His Majesty’s receiving room. He’s waiting for you there.”

Hm?

Not returning to report to His Majesty?

Muen’s brow creased imperceptibly, then he at once showed a flawless smile.

“Much trouble to you, Captain Lawrence.”

“No trouble. It’s my duty.”

Lawrence dipped his head slightly in salute and then brushed past Muen.

At the very mont they passed each other, a cold wind suddenly gusted in from the corridor windows.

Riding the wind, Muen faintly heard Lawrence’s blurred words.

“Muen Campbell, be careful—soone might be trying to kill you...”
