"I heard this eting is very serious?"

"It should be very serious—after all, it concerns Evil Gods."

"I heard this eting is very important?"

"It ⊛ Nоvеlιght ⊛ (Read the full story) should be very important—after all, it concerns Evil Gods."

"I heard... forget it, I’ll just say it straight. Since this eting is so important, maybe I should leave first."

Although I had agreed to co with Senior Anna to attend this eting, the instant I stepped into the gorgeously decorated conference room, I regretted it at once.

"Why?"

Anna blinked with impish brilliance, as if she hadn’t understood .

"Because..."

I looked around the entire room and pulled a bitter face. "Isn’t it obvious?"

Never mind that Hoggu and old man Dodge—who had just solemnly taken their leave—were now sitting across the long table again. Never mind that Lin, who was arranging what looked like docunts to be distributed at the head of the room, was staring at us in shock as Anna and I walked in.

Just take the long conference table in front of ...

There were fewer than ten chairs in total—clearly not many seats. The key point was that at each place on the table lay a placard printed in bright red letters, with the na of a faction clearly written on it, such as "Silent Bureau."

In other words, this was one of those high-level etings with few attendees, where a single chair represented an entire force.

Which raised a problem: even if I, as Acting Swordbearer’s specially appointed consultant, technically had the qualifications to attend, where was I supposed to sit?

I couldn’t exactly do what people do at a banquet, and, failing to find a place, huff and puff while carrying over a little stool to squeeze in at the kids’ table.

I looked innocently at Senior Anna, as if to say, It’s not that I don’t want to—there’s just no way.

But... I seed to be forgetting that, as soone originally scheduled to attend, Anna naturally knew the format of the eting.

Which ant she’d already prepared a solution when she pulled inside.

"Sit here."

Her brows arched; she patted the seat that was originally hers.

"Eh?"

I froze, not understanding her intention.

"If I sit here, where do you sit?"

"You sit first."

"But..."

"What, not going to obey your superior’s order?" Anna flashed a wicked, rciless smile.

"Careful, Mr. Muen Campbell—disobey and I’ll dock your pay. Sit."

"...Alright, alright."

Under the "orders" of my new boss, I obediently sat down.

And then...

Right in front of the astonished looks of old Mr. Hoggu—"Young people can play like this?"—and old Mr. Dodge—"Young people really know how to make it fancy"—Anna swayed her lovely hips and sat, elegant and comfortable, on my lap.

"Mmm~ I’ll sit here."

The atmosphere clearly paused for a few seconds.

Then—plap—a stack of freshly sorted docunts slipped from Lin’s hands onto the table.

She stared blankly at the intimate tableau before her, mouth agape wide enough to fit a chicken egg.

All the thoughts she had just straightened out that morning tangled themselves into a knot again.

What’s going on? What is this scene supposed to be? Isn’t that young lady nad Anna the one who is with Her Highness the Saintess?

Could it be that while Her Highness the Saintess did it with Muen Campbell, Muen Campbell also did it with Her Highness the Saintess?

No, judging from who took the initiative just now, it should be that young lady nad Anna did it with Her Highness the Saintess... but Muen Campbell clearly often does that kind of thing with Her Highness the Saintess, which ans he did it with Miss Anna as well?

?? So who did it with whom??

Unable to make sense of it, Lin’s brain turned to mush. She deeply felt that re book knowledge was no longer enough to comprehend the situation before her.

I had no idea Lin’s mind had entered overload mode—because mine was a bit muddled too.

Although Senior Anna sitting on my lap like this—soft hips, slender waist—indeed provided a marvelous sensation, in a situation like this...

"N-not... not great, Senior."

As Anna shifted, my arms slid around her narrow waist by reflex.

"In broad daylight..."

"What’s not great about it? We like it; why should we care what others think?"

Anna subtly twisted her waist and looked back with a charming smile.

"Or is it that... you don’t... like... it?"

"..."

"Oh my, oh my, doesn’t look like you dislike it at all. You suddenly seem so spirited."

"..."

With the beloved beauty on my lap, warm fragrance and soft jade filling my arms, and that soul-stealing smile aid only at —probably even the coldest, most iron-hearted man would be hard-pressed to say any words of refusal right now.

I let out a long sigh and closed my eyes helplessly. It wasn’t that my Dao-heart lacked firmness; it was that this little enchantress was simply too seductive.

...

...

It seed Anna and I had arrived rather early; before us, only Hoggu and Dodge were in the room, with Lin helping sort and distribute the docunts.

But not long after, the next representative made his entrance with overwhelming montum.

First, the conference room doors banged open. A sharp aura surged in like a storm. The figure outside blocked the light, casting a huge shadow into the room.

A tall man in military uniform stepped in. His expression was stern; his eyes were like blades. A huge scar slashed across his profile, worn without concealnt—as if the scar itself were his honor.

Across his chest, he indeed wore many exquisite dals symbolizing honor.

From the Kingdom of Saint Pedro, representative of Agency Zero: General Baror.

Though his cultivation was a notch below the peak, even the most senior figures here—Hoggu and Dodge—would look at him seriously.

Madman, stray dog, demon wolf—there were many legends about this General Baror. So said he loved to drink the blood of maidens; others said he often boiled infants alive for dinner.

Whatever the origins of those tales, several points were accepted as fact.

For example, that Agency Zero and the Silent Bureau of the Empire of Leopold had a huge grudge between them. And that this General Baror had once suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of that old man...

So when he made such a high-profile entrance, no one doubted he’d heard that the heir to the Silent Bureau was rely a delicate little girl and had co to intimidate this new enemy with a show of force.

That was indeed his intent. His gaze crackled like lightning; his pressure bood like thunder. The mont he entered, his savage eyes hunted for his prey like a starving wolf pack...

"Don’t, naughty junior, move back a little—you’re poking ."

"You’re the one who’s moving around. Tss—don’t move anymore..."

"..."

General Baror froze where he stood, staring in shock at the scene before him.

Before entering, he had imagined many possible reactions: trembling under his aura; or, as the next Swordbearer, showing so ability, enough to offer a bit of resistance.

Never—not in any scenario—had he imagined that the very first sight upon entering would be such a bizarre picture that absolutely did not belong here.

A woman who did indeed look delicate, sitting on the lap of a man whose skin was fair and tender—with nothing to recomnd him but his looks—and the two of them seed... to be flirting?

If this image needed a title, it would probably be—"The Great Acting Swordbearer of the Silent Bureau and Her Beloved Pretty Boy."

They had even achieved the state of ignoring everyone else. Despite his thunderous entrance, they seed completely imrsed in their own world, ruthlessly handing out free "dog food" (PDA) to everyone around them.

The montum he had gathered collapsed in an instant. The starving wolf pack turned into a bewildered husky. Unable to figure out the other side’s approach, General Baror quietly put away his plan to cow them and walked to his seat.

"Hello."

At that mont, Anna turned her head and smiled at him.

"Nice to et you, General Baror."

"You..."

Baror had just begun to respond when a chill swept over him.

The girl’s smile was so gentle—yet from deep within those gemlike eyes, an endless, silent darkness welled out and suddenly enveloped him.

Beneath his feet there was no longer firm ground but a pitch-black sea. A bright, cold moon hung high above the waters. Under that moonlight, countless frantic, twisted shadows seed to writhe beneath the surface—howling soundlessly, scratching in madness. Shrill whispers and murmurs ignored physical laws and poured directly into his mind, speaking over and over within the depths of his soul. They wanted to break their prison and taste his living flesh...

"How... do you do."

In a flash, the moon and sea were gone. Baror’s awareness returned to the warm, well-lit conference room. Not far away, the Acting Swordbearer’s smile remained gentle.

But Baror’s expression had grown grave. Horror still lingered, while all the arrogance and conceit had been gathered up and buried deep behind his eyes.

So... the one chosen by that old man was never going to be simple, was she? Flirting with a pretty boy—clearly just a disguise.

"Nice to et you, Anna Kaplin."

Baror drew a deep breath and, at last, looked straight at the still-young Acting Swordbearer as a true opponent.

...

...

"S-Senior..."

Silently observing that brief clash, I stared at the fair, beautiful nape of her neck and couldn’t help swallowing.

"When did you get this strong?"

"What, you’re allowed to get stronger but I’m not?"

Propping her cheek in her hand, Anna answered with a smiling gaze.

"If anyone bullies my junior from now on, just tell . I’ll stand up for you."

"S-stand up... for ?"

"That’s right. For example, a certain lofty Princess will use her status to bully my junior. Hmph... If I hadn’t been so busy lately, I was going to teach her a lesson before leaving.

So, junior—if she bullies you again, you must tell ."

"..."

I snapped my mouth shut.

I didn’t know which of Senior Anna or Celicia was stronger now, but even with my backside I knew this was absolutely not a question I should answer.

Snitching is the number one reason girls’ friendships fall apart. Children, do not imitate!

For family harmony and a happy life, even if I suffer a little and get bullied a bit, that’s only right!

I didn’t dare tangle with that topic any further. I quickly shifted my gaze and pretended to focus on the eting’s participants.

After General Baror, the other attendees arrived one after another. Each wore a solemn expression and carried imposing presence—they were clearly well-prepared for this eting.

And then each of them was jolted by the utterly unfitting masterpiece before their eyes: "The Great Acting Swordbearer of the Silent Bureau and Her Beloved Pretty Boy."

Especially a few who recognized as the Empire’s infamous duke’s son and fiancé to the Empire’s Third Princess. Their shocked looks began to glimr with amusent.

So of the more quick-minded even started guessing that discord had already begun within the Empire.

But regardless, the eting had to begin.

So when everyone had arrived, the Church’s representative—both host and presiding authority—Her newly appointed Highness the Saintess, finally ca, unhurried and elegant, fashionably late.
