Chapter 1626: Chapter 1626: Shocked Everyone
Luo Ziling didn’t refuse, and after hearing the invitation, he casually stood up, greeted everyone, and walked to the podium.
“First of all, I would like to greet my colleagues in the School of dicine, University of Tokyo. There are many people in our delegation who are more qualified and capable than I am, yet I’m invited to speak. If I were to describe my feelings as ‘flattered,’ it would be a bit exaggerated because I didn’t even feel this way when money was thrown at by the billions. But I’m still very proud and want to say thank you, thank you for recognizing my skills just now, and thank you for not getting bothered by my youthful arrogance.”
Luo Ziling’s slightly humorous remarks made many people laugh.
Lin Lan translated Luo Ziling’s words for those Japanese who didn’t understand Huaxia language, and several of them also showed smiles.
Luo Ziling continued, “Today, what I want to talk about is the misunderstanding people have regarding traditional and modern dicine. Traditional dicine and modern dicine cannot be completely separated, much less opposed to each other. Both are dicine, and the goal is to cure disease and save lives, just with different starting points and treatnt principles.”
“To put it simply, Western dicine mainly aims to treat the symptoms specifically, like if you have a headache, it treats the head, and if you have a foot ache, it treats the foot, while Chinese dicine considers the body as a whole, emphasizing the harmony of yin and yang. In most cases, it uses various thods to stimulate the body’s immune capability, and with the continuous support of dication, totally clears the disease focus and restores health. Actually, both approaches are not wrong. When dealing with acute illness, use rapid and robust asures to eliminate symptoms and control the disease, then apply Chinese dicine therapies to gradually strengthen the body, highly stimulate the immune system, ultimately clear the disease focus and restore health. If both of them can be scientifically combined, the treatnt effect would be even better.”
“It often happens that after Western dicine couldn’t cure certain patients, traditional dicine therapy does. In less than a year from Northwest to Yanjing, I have successfully restored the health of two such patients and am currently helping another patient with highly poorly differentiated cancer, believing I can still create miracles.”
“To put it simply, I hope to see this scenario: when a person falls ill, we use modern examination thods to thoroughly check the patient’s various conditions, then apply Western, Chinese treatnt thods, and adopt whichever is more effective and has fewer side effects. Of course, the treatnt thods I refer to aren’t purely Chinese and Western therapies, but rather a combination of both. For instance, after surgical treatnt, using Chinese dicine thods for support, or when mainly using Chinese treatnt, complenting with antibiotics, because, after all, Western dicine drugs are refined and concentrated products of dication ingredients, working faster.”
After saying these, Luo Ziling apologized for not having more to say and prepared to leave.
But after taking two steps, he returned to the front of the podium, picked up the microphone and said apologetically, “It suddenly occurred to that there’s another matter I want to ntion. Please forgive my abruptness. I rarely face such situations now, and hence feel a bit nervous, prone to forget things.”
Luo Ziling’s seemingly sincere yet intentionally humorous statent quickly had an effect, causing many people to let out good-natured laughter.
The old man with the vice principal title, turned and whispered to another person beside him, “This young man is extraordinary, barely in his twenties, yet has such poise and mastered such exquisite dical skills. He’s a rare talent. If he could stay in Japan, that would be fortunate for the Japanese dical community. Think of ways to give him so setbacks, then extend an olive branch and offer a high salary.”
The middle-aged person beside him, also a renowned figure in the traditional dicine field, gently nodded, “Mr. Kobayashi, I will find a chance to chat with him and see if he’s willing to stay in Japan. I think, as long as we offer sufficiently preferential conditions, he should agree to stay in Japan.”
The old man nodded and said nothing more.
On stage, Luo Ziling spoke passionately again, “I feel there’s an even bigger misconception among those engaging in traditional dicine, which is focusing mainly on classical dical literature research, taking pleasure in studying ancient dical books. They consider the greatest achievent as thoroughly understanding ancient dical texts. What I’d like to say is, dicine is a rapidly developing science, delving into all aspects, understanding more principles in the process. With our current level of knowledge, are we not better than the ancients from thousands of years ago? At least, now we accurately know human physiological anatomy and can precisely apply physics and chemistry in dical diagnosis. Why is it, with our current understanding of human functions, that we can’t write a more scientifically sound dical diagnosis principle than the ancients? Well, I’ve said these things before.”
“The ‘Huangdi Neijing’ has been in existence for thousands of years. ‘Treatise on Cold Pathogenic Diseases,’ ‘Thousand Golden Redies,’ ‘Compendium of Materia dica’ are all very old. We’re still using these dical classics written by ancients from thousands or hundreds of years ago as diagnostic references. Just this point can make people feel traditional dicine’s unreliability. In this era of scientific advancents, why aren’t we able to further improve traditional dicine’s diagnostic argunts?”
At this point, Luo Ziling looked at the surprised eyes in the audience, and earnestly said, “There’s nothing wrong with studying ancient dical books, but on the basis of learning their essence, also innovate to make traditional dicine more scientific and easy to accept. Well, I’ll use my own experiences and the events that just happened as a not-so-appropriate analogy. The acupuncture skill I used earlier was originally passed down as the Taiyi Divine Needle. What I used just now is the Burning Mountain Fire Needling thod, but the skill has changed significantly from the original. We can say that through efforts of several generations, we have made this magical skill even more magical. We do not worship ancient classics as classics because no matter how classic, things can always be improved and enhanced. Techniques are like this, and so are books recording dical principles. I truly hope there will be a future traditional dicine masterpiece surpassing ‘Huangdi Neijing,’ ‘Thousand Golden Redies,’ and ‘Compendium of Materia dica.’ This way, our traditional dicine will have greater, more substantial developnt, and people’s health care will be more guaranteed. These are my views, welco to correct them. Of course, even if you call out for being overambitious, I won’t mind.”
After saying these, Luo Ziling indicated that he had expressed his viewpoints, then stepped off the stage.
Lin Lan translated Luo Ziling’s words exactly, then followed Luo Ziling back to her seat with a neutral expression.
Before Lin Lan even started translating, applause had already sounded in the venue. As she began translating, the applause paused for a mont, then resud enthusiastically after she finished.
Many people looked at Luo Ziling with surprised eyes, feeling that this young man’s thoughts were quite extraordinary.
