Chapter 1682: Chapter 1682: Divergence
Seeing Luo Liansheng still simring with anger, Ling Mingrui hurriedly chased after him.
Catching up with Luo Liansheng at the gate of the courtyard, he called out to him.
“In-law, don’t be so upset,” Ling Mingrui remarked, gently placing his arm around Luo Liansheng’s shoulder and speaking quietly, “How about having dinner at my place tonight, we can drink a bit and have a good chat about recent events? We brothers haven’t talked in a long ti.”
Seeing Ling Mingrui’s deanor, Luo Liansheng ultimately didn’t refuse. After a brief hesitation, he agreed: “Alright!”
“I’ll send soone to pick you up in the evening. If you have good wine, bring so over; my collection is limited, saved for slow sipping.”
“Okay!” With Ling Mingrui’s words, Luo Liansheng felt a bit better and, recalling that the other party was Ling Ruonan’s biological father, his deanor softened, “So, tonight we’ll have a good chat. I’ll head off now!”
After Luo Liansheng left, Ling Mingrui returned to the courtyard and sat down next to Ling Jinhua.
Ling Jinhua still had his eyes closed, ditating, and Ling Mingrui sat without concern.
“Dad, Sir Luo was really angry this ti,” Ling Mingrui proactively observed, “I hope he doesn’t act impulsively, or things will beco even more troubleso.”
Twenty years ago, when Luo Liansheng took the infant Luo Ziling, both parties had an agreent: Luo Liansheng should not retaliate, or Luo Xusheng would perish. Luo Liansheng chose to endure for the sake of his son and grandson, compromising his pride.
For twenty years, highly skilled in martial arts and adept with dicine, Luo Liansheng never hard anyone, only raising Luo Ziling in the Northwest.
This was sothing many were reluctant to believe, yet it brought great relief.
Fearing Luo Liansheng might act rashly, Ling Mingrui, too, found the peaceful resolution surprising, naturally feeling relieved.
However, from today’s irrational reaction of Luo Liansheng, Ling Mingrui sensed that the years of pent-up resentnt within the old man was on the verge of erupting. Ling Mingrui found it difficult to imagine the consequences should Luo Liansheng seek revenge.
In a statent difficult to accept, if Luo Liansheng intended to kill Ling Jinhua, Ling Jinhua would struggle to escape his deadly pursuit.
“He won’t act impulsively,” Ling Jinhua sighed softly, “If he intended such action, he wouldn’t have vented his anger here. He’s seeking sothing from , demanding a promise for his grandson.”
After speaking, Ling Jinhua opened his eyes, staring at Ling Mingrui.
Ling Mingrui realized his thoughts were seen through by his father, feeling slightly embarrassed.
If Luo Liansheng wanted revenge, he would definitely act silently and leave no trace. He was akin to the ancient hidden heroes, able to kill silently, yet he remained in a state of restraint.
Today, Luo Liansheng ca to vent anger, compelling them to make concessions, demanding commitnts for his grandson’s benefit.
Ling Mingrui was aware of this yet chose not to reveal it.
For Ling Mingrui, he hoped to secure so interests for Ling Ruonan and Luo Ziling, given that one was his beloved daughter and the other her treasured son, his own grandson. As he knew Luo Liansheng was rely intimidating, he stepped forward to diate.
Ling Jinhua undoubtedly saw through this, yet Ling Mingrui didn’t mind.
“Dad, even if those matters were Ziling’s doing, it’s only because he was forced under desperate circumstances, and he’s been patient enough.” Now that the issue was brought to light, Ling Mingrui had no choice but to express his stance, “I think this young man is indeed talented. If he is willing to assist the Ling Family, that would be a great outco. We shouldn’t push him into opposition with the Ling Family. If one day he truly becos our foe, the damage he brings would be considerable.”
“So, you’re prepared to make a statent?” Ling Jinhua asked after she finished speaking, closing her eyes again. “If you think it’s appropriate, then go ahead and say sothing.”
“Dad, the Fang Family is directly courting the grandfather and grandson, and now even the Yang Family has changed their attitude towards them. If we persist with our original stance, it might not be favorable,” Ling Mingrui expressed his thoughts, “Since the Yang Family has altered their stance, we needn’t adhere to our initial agreent anymore.”
“You are now the Head of the Ling Family, make all decisions yourself,” Ling Jinhua said with a wave of her hand, dismissing Ling Mingrui.
Ling Mingrui knew his father was not very pleased with his attitude; otherwise, he wouldn’t have said such words.
But he regarded his ideas as correct, thus refrained from any further explanation.
Seeing Ling Jinhua showing signs of tiredness, he didn’t disturb him further and took his leave.
After Ling Mingrui left, Huang Chen approached Ling Jinhua, awaiting instructions.
“What’s your view on this event?” Ling Jinhua asked softly without opening his eyes.
Ling Jinhua had never asked him such matters, nor had he ever intervened in such affairs. Surprised by the inquiry, Huang Chen hesitated montarily.
He then shook his head: “Chief, I dare not express any opinions on these matters.”
“If I ask you to speak, then speak up.”
After hesitating briefly, Huang Chen cautiously shared his thoughts: “I believe Luo Ziling is a rare talent. He’s soone who can achieve great things! As long as given an opportunity, he will certainly accomplish.”
Ling Jinhua lightly nodded without further comnt, rely gesturing for Huang Chen to fetch a blanket, intending to nap under the sun.
While Ling Jinhua napped in the sunlight, over in Hanseong, exciting events had already begun to unfold.
Luo Ziling accompanied other mbers of the delegation to the so-called “Korean dicine” Cultural Institute. Soon, Xu Chongzhi with his son and grandson also arrived there.
Politely greeting them, Luo Ziling entered the cultural park with the group.
Both parties had agreed to hold an exchange and a competition in traditional dicine diagnosis techniques here.
The Korean side sent five renowned doctors, while five others from Huaxia stepped up to compete.
A set of mutual rules was established for the competition, focusing on traditional dical diagnosis techniques.
Exchange was rely symbolic; defeating the opponent was the ultimate goal.
Huaxia selected five individuals to compete: Traditional Chinese dicine expert Guo Chuncheng, Thirteen Needles of Guin heir Wang Xuyun, Dong’s Mysterious Acupoints successor Dong Qichang, Fire Needle successor He Yan, and Gu Changwei.
Gu Jian’an opted not to compete, offering Gu Changwei the opportunity, knowing his grandson had achieved substantial accomplishnts in dicine, facing the Korean side with confidence of avoiding defeat.
The Korean side also had five participants, including Xu Zhiyuan.
The young were naturally matched against each other, with Gu Changwei facing Xu Zhiyuan, while the remaining four were decided by drawing lots.
The competition soon comnced.
