Capítulo 1882: Chapter 1882: Straightforward

Luo Liansheng seed to have anticipated Ling Mingrui’s question. After a smile, he replied, “I haven’t seen him since I ca back. If he wants to be soone who repays kindness with enmity, then so be it.”

Ling Mingrui glanced at Luo Liansheng and said nothing more.

Luo Liansheng also said nothing more and slowly sipped his tea.

After a mont of silence, Ling Mingrui spoke first. “Your grandson, he’s quite impressive.”

“If he wasn’t impressive, you wouldn’t have thrown the four descendants of the Ling Family at him for training,” Luo Liansheng chuckled, “You’ve certainly played your cards right. It appeases our anger and gives your grandchildren so sharpening—a strategy that kills several birds with one stone. Kudos on thinking it up!”

“If everyone thinks they’ve benefited, isn’t that a good thing?” Ling Mingrui smiled again and continued, “Old brother, actually, your eyes shouldn’t be on the Ling Family, but on the Chen Family. The ones who can’t tolerate you the most are them. Back then, when you eloped with their daughter, they never forgot. Recently, they haven’t made any moves; don’t you find that odd?”

“Such a reminder shouldn’t co from your mouth,” Luo Liansheng smiled, playfully saying, “Are you trying to remind that my son also eloped with your daughter, and you’re still holding a grudge?”

“Your son didn’t elope with my daughter. She’s been with us all these years.” Ling Mingrui chuckled, looking at Luo Liansheng, “It’s completely different. I don’t bla you, nor do I bla your son. In fact, I quite like Ziling, my grandson. I’m just reminding you to guard against the Chen Family making any dark moves on you. They hate you, and they hate Ziling. Their current lack of action isn’t normal. If they make a move, it won’t be like before—they might co for your lives. I don’t want my daughter to be without a husband or a son.”

“Alright, I’ll rember,” Luo Liansheng didn’t ask more.

Ling Mingrui then asked Luo Liansheng, “What path do you hope Ziling will take in the future?”

“I have no expectations,” Luo Liansheng shook his head, “He can do whatever he wants. I think, with his intelligence, he’ll succeed no matter what he chooses. Besides, there’s no need for him to ask ; he can ask your daughter.”

“My daughter is most concerned about your attitude.”

“I have no objections, as long as it’s their own decision.”

Ling Mingrui nodded and said nothing more.

The two old n ended their strange conversation for the night.

After Luo Liansheng left, Xie Enhua quietly asked Ling Mingrui, “What was he here for today?”

Xie Enhua instinctively suspected Luo Liansheng had other motives beyond rely delivering so dicinal herbs.

“He plans to act himself. So people’s deeds are beyond what he can endure,” Ling Mingrui sighed, “He needs our support. If we don’t support him, he’ll abandon our alliance. That he speaks so plainly shows how angered he is.”

“Who does he want to target?” Xie Enhua was shocked.

“The Chen Family and Yang Yunlin. If we don’t let him train a few of our wayward descendants, don’t give the Luo Family so benefits, our Ling Family might face trouble too.” Ling Mingrui wore a bitter smile, “Indeed, many have gone too far. It’s a miracle Luo has endured this long.”

“And what did you tell him?”

Ling Mingrui shook his head, unwilling to share the earlier conversation with his wife.

“At this age, what we say doesn’t really matter. Before he ca to , he went to the old master, who also saw no sense in provoking him and took a step back. I, too, could only follow the old master’s lead and concede so ground. Just watch, there will definitely be drama soon.”

Ling Mingrui directly confronting Luo Liansheng about guarding against the Chen Family had its special purpose.

After Chen Jiahai’s death, the Chen Family didn’t rashly retaliate against anyone. When the police concluded that Chen Jiahai’s death resulted from overdosing on N/A, they didn’t show any drastic reaction and accepted the findings.

As ti passed, the Chen Family’s inaction unsettled so people.

Ling Mingrui hoped Luo Liansheng or Luo Ziling would do sothing to provoke them, to better understand the Chen Family’s actions.

One thing he knew was that the Chen Family definitely planned to destroy Ling Ruonan and Luo Ziling altogether. Luo Liansheng certainly wouldn’t be spared either. However, there was no concrete evidence yet.

Ling Ruonan was his daughter, and no matter what, Ling Mingrui didn’t want his daughter hard.

Another reason was that the two most important etings of the year were about to take place. These etings were decisive for certain crucial personnel appointnts.

Ling Mingrui didn’t want the Chen Family to be so low-key; he hoped they’d foolishly act out like Yang Yunlin did, so the Chen Family would obtain fewer resources in the etings.

The two important etings were set for a week later.

This year’s etings were about fifteen days later than last year, mainly due to unresolved critical personnel arrangents.

Yang Yunlin caused such a ruckus before the key etings, completely ignoring the potential impact, which took Ling Mingrui by surprise. He couldn’t understand what the Yang Family was plotting.

The Ling Family didn’t hold back, continually scheming against Luo Ziling with Ling Zhengping, Ling Zhenghui, Ling Haining, and Ling Haijun, which Ling Mingrui hadn’t anticipated. He was furious after things erupted.

Although he knew these descendants of the Ling Family acted to fra the Yang Family and reignite the dormant conflict between the Yang and Luo Families, he wasn’t aware initially, and his anger was such that he even considered murder.

Thankfully, Ling Ruonan acted sensibly, directly bringing the matter to him and Ling Jinhua.

Ling Mingrui, aware that Ling Ruonan aid for further compensation, also understood that her discreet handling of the situation minimized the adverse effects.

As of now, outside of the few involved from the Ling Family, no one else knew about the incident.

Ling Mingrui believed Luo Liansheng dared to blatantly threaten Ling Jinhua before coming to him, considering this as well.

Fortunately, Luo Liansheng remained calm and rational, which relieved Ling Mingrui.

The fire in their own yard was temporarily covered, and he hoped for commotion in others’ yards, preferably causing a blaze, so he had no qualms about reminding Luo Liansheng.

Ling Mingrui also believed Luo Liansheng would go to Yang Yuanshan and directly threaten him for benefits.

Luo Liansheng would also do sothing about the Chen Family.

Whatever Luo Liansheng did, as long as it wasn’t against the Ling Family, it would be beneficial for them.

“Hastily devised plans, hope they work, at least don’t backfire,” was Ling Mingrui’s inner sentint.
