Capítulo 1988: Chapter 1988: That Would Be a Blessing for the Nation

(Second update)

Luo Ziling knew that Ling Jinhua was not trying to tell others about the past, but was communicating with him.

Luo Ziling felt that only he dared to talk about such matters with Ling Jinhua; others didn’t dare to express their true thoughts. Luo Liansheng probably didn’t want to chat with Ling Jinhua about these things either.

After realizing this, Luo Ziling couldn’t help but sigh, “I didn’t expect Great Grandfather joined the Red Army at such a young age. I guess, in the battles that followed, you beca braver and repeatedly earned military honors, slowly growing from a soldier to an officer, right?”

Ling Jinhua glanced at Luo Ziling, seemingly quite satisfied with his performance.

“On August 15, 1945, the Japanese announced their unconditional surrender. I was nineteen that year. By then, I was already a deputy platoon leader.” Ling Jinhua spoke with a look of pride on his face, “In the battles against the Japanese army, I eliminated a total of thirty-two Japanese soldiers.”

“Great Grandfather, you are truly amazing,” Luo Ziling couldn’t help but praise Ling Jinhua, “I’m a few years older than you were in 1945, and so far, I haven’t eliminated a single Japanese soldier; I’m far inferior to you in those days!”

Such random comparisons by Luo Ziling made so accompanying officials look quite peculiar.

So felt that Luo Ziling was ridiculously flattering; how could he compare such things?

Others felt that Luo Ziling was brazenly praising himself.

However, Ling Jinhua knew that Luo Ziling’s words had a deeper aning.

When Luo Ziling went to Japan, although he didn’t personally kill anyone, he directed people around him to kill several Japanese. Moreover, in his confrontations with the Japanese, he brought honor to the country.

Therefore, he also replied, “You perford quite well. Although you didn’t kill any Japanese soldiers, you shad the entire Japan.”

Only then did those officials realize that during the previous competition with the Japanese dicine, Luo Ziling had brought honor to the country.

This old and young pair really could compare their achievents in their respective youth.

“It’s a pity, there’s no way to avenge the past now, which is an enormous regret,” Luo Ziling couldn’t help but sigh and humd a song: “Sir, do you not see the Han Zhong Army, tying themselves as captives to ask for long saber. Sir, do you not see Ban Dingyuan, who rides lightly beyond the reaches of battle clouds… Discarding my pen of old, wearing my warti robes, at a call more than a hundred thousand join in song and army.”

This is the “Chinese Expeditionary Force Anthem”, although few have heard it, Luo Ziling likes this song very much. After humming a few lines, he earnestly said to Ling Jinhua, “If, and I an if, one day we go to war with the Japanese again, I will definitely volunteer to enlist and fight the Japanese, just like in the Expeditionary Force anthem: All joining the army, cleansing the barbarian dust, swearing to sweep the Japanese enemy without care for oneself. Overnight, we shall smash the Japanese lair, dyeing the Pacific Ocean red with blood. Raising the Han flag atop Mount Fuji, drunken petals fall beneath the cherry trees.”

“The Expeditionary Army was great,” Ling Jinhua replied softly, looking at the monunt in front of him.

“Huaxia soldiers fighting for their country, no matter where they co from, are great.”

This old and young pair said these things before the monunt, leaving those officials astounded.

They further understood how favored Luo Ziling was by Ling Jinhua.

Perhaps, in this world, only Luo Ziling dared to speak with Ling Jinhua like this; no one else had the courage.

Ling Jinhua seed to appreciate Luo Ziling’s boldness and bravery. He looked back at Luo Ziling and nodded, agreeing with his point of view: “Soldiers fighting for their country and other virtuous and brave n are all National Heroes.”

After a pause, he added, “Your father is as well!”

Luo Xusheng was also accompanying Ling Jinhua to visit the morial today; he was the only one dressed in military uniform among the entourage.

Upon hearing Ling Jinhua ntion him, he quickly walked a few steps ahead to the other side of Ling Jinhua.

“As a Huaxia soldier, not having the opportunity to lead troops into battle is truly shaful.” He stood before the monunt, gave a very solemn military salute, then removed his cap and bowed to the deceased, holding his cap in his hands, he seriously said to the monunt, “If there is a battle, I am willing to fight for the country in any manner, even at the cost of my life. The n of the Luo Family are all willing to fight for the country.”

Thus, standing beside Ling Jinhua were Luo Ziling and Luo Xusheng, who beca the focal point of everyone’s attention.

Ling Jinhua looked at Luo Ziling and then at Luo Xusheng, but didn’t say much.

The group continued onward. After entering the morial, they started the actual tour.

Inside the morial, there were many visitors.

Even though there were many visitors, order was maintained, and there was virtually no noise.

Everyone visited the morial with a heavy heart, with many stopping to view the data inside, while so wiped their eyes.

Inside the morial, seeing the nas of the deceased slowly drifting by and disappearing once more weighed heavily on everyone’s emotions.

“Being a soldier but unable to protect the civilians is a disgrace,” Ling Jinhua softly said as he passed by.

“Great Grandfather, are you referring to the revolutionary army at the ti?” Luo Ziling couldn’t help but ask.

“What else could it be?”

“I think soldiers of that ti being able to die fighting without retreating was already quite remarkable.” At this mont, Luo Ziling stood before Ling Jinhua, seriously saying, “Great Grandfather, do you think we’re doing fine now?”

Not expecting Luo Ziling to say this, Ling Jinhua furrowed his brows.

Because of the dim indoor lighting, Ling Jinhua’s expression appeared sowhat distorted.

Luo Ziling ignored Ling Jinhua’s anger and continued, “We’ve misunderstood the phrase ‘repay evil with good’.”

Having said that, Luo Ziling took Ling Jinhua’s hand to continue their walk.

Ling Jinhua understood what Luo Ziling ant to convey and initially wanted to refute him, but after a mont of thought, he ultimately didn’t say anything and continued walking forward.

Luo Liansheng, following behind them, hadn’t uttered a word, rely watching quietly.

Luo Xusheng, overhearing the dialog between Luo Ziling and Ling Jinhua, felt sowhat worried, fearing Luo Ziling’s words might offend Ling Jinhua.

Fortunately, Ling Jinhua did not get angry, allowing Luo Ziling to continue supporting him while they viewed the subsequent exhibits.

Ling Jinhua actually wasn’t visiting the exhibition for the first ti; however, during the previous visits, the open areas were not as extensive as now.

For safety reasons, Ling Jinhua did not visit so of the more crowded exhibition rooms.

For Ling Jinhua, who truly experienced the entirety of the war, he had access to much more, and more authentic, information than either Luo Ziling or even Luo Liansheng.

However, his visit today was not just for rembrance, but also an exhibition, showing everyone that he was in excellent health and capable of enduring a long tour.

In the subsequent tour, Ling Jinhua continued to communicate with Luo Ziling, not neglecting him despite their differing opinions.

Luo Ziling was not concerned about whether Ling Jinhua would neglect him and expressed his own views without reservation.

During a mid-point rest, Ling Jinhua pointed towards Luo Ziling and addressed everyone present, “My granddaughter’s son is daring in action and expression, not altering his stance due to soone else’s authority. If he maintains such a character throughout his life, he will be extraordinary. If he attains a leadership position while maintaining such a character, it will be a fortune for the nation.”

Ling Jinhua publicly stating such words left everyone inwardly shocked.
