Capítulo 2083: Chapter 2083: Used Again

Luo Ziling’s reference to making wedding gowns for soone else ant that during the previous incident against the Chen Family, the biggest victory was snatched away by Ling Zhengping.

Originally, Ling Zhengping was “exiled” to the south because of a dispute with Luo Ziling, and ultimately was coerced by Luo Ziling and Ling Ruonan into going there.

Although the level remained the sa, his job transfer from the Capital to the south was almost like being exiled, albeit to a relatively good place.

But no one expected that in this round of open and secret strife, he would reap the biggest benefit, being promoted two ranks and taking up a committee position in the highest administrative departnt.

The committee position in this departnt is of a high level, and from there, it’s close to the senate.

It can be said that now Ling Mingrui and Ling Zhengping, this father-son duo, hold the highest positions in the court, and no other father and son can compare with them.

Ling Zhengping took the biggest victory prize, and Luo Ziling was naturally unhappy.

Today, when Ling Zhengping accused him in front of Ling Mingrui, he couldn’t help but reveal the underlying matter.

Directly stating that what he did before was making wedding gowns for others, and he wouldn’t do it anymore, was tantamount to making things clear.

Ling Zhengping imdiately showed a cold face, glaring at Luo Ziling in anger.

However, Luo Ziling was indifferent, not taking any notice of Ling Zhengping.

Ling Mingrui’s expression slightly changed, but he quickly returned to normal.

“As long as you can guarantee results, that’s enough.” Ling Mingrui casually said, “If you fail to achieve, neither you nor your mother will save face.”

“Grandfather, rest assured, since I promise to deliver results, I definitely will.” Luo Ziling was quite pleased with Ling Mingrui’s statent. “When the ti cos, I will certainly present so research achievents to impress everyone.”

Ling Mingrui gently nodded, not saying much more.

Ling Ruonan hurriedly added, “Dad, Ling’er is young and tends to act impulsively. But impulsiveness is quite normal for young people. No matter who it is, one grows only after experiencing gradual tempering. Let Ling’er comprehend his experience and lessons by himself!”

Ling Mingrui didn’t say anything, just nodded.

Seeing that his father didn’t speak for him, Ling Zhengping simply shut his mouth, lifted his tea cup and started drinking tea.

The atmosphere was a bit dull.

But Luo Ziling enjoyed this dull atmosphere; he knew that the tense atmosphere here indicated that relations between Ling Mingrui, Ling Zhengping, and Ling Ruonan were not very harmonious.

Ling Mingrui should have complaints about his son, but Ling Zhengping had Ling Jinhua’s support, so he felt sowhat confident.

As for Ling Ruonan, her relationship with Ling Mingrui had grown closer, so she was also not afraid of Ling Zhengping.

Luo Ziling was quite willing to see this situation unfold.

Since Yang Qingyin had reminded him last ti to be wary of Ling Mingrui’s gentle strike, Luo Ziling had been cautious. He knew that if he didn’t guard against Ling Mingrui, when his knife was raised, neither he nor Ling Ruonan would have the courage or capacity to resist.

Therefore, he hoped to see any conflict arise between Ling Mingrui, Ling Zhengping, and Ling Ruonan, so that Ling Ruonan would also be wary.

Luo Ziling definitely wouldn’t warn Ling Ruonan to be careful of Ling Mingrui’s gentle strike.

If he were wrong, it would make Ling Ruonan disheartened.

The father-daughter relationship between Ling Mingrui and Ling Ruonan, Ling Ruonan’s relationship with him as mother and son, he feared Ling Ruonan might overthink it and impact their mother-son relationship.

After a while, Ling Mingrui proactively spoke, “Xusheng will return to Yanjing in a few days. When that happens, you should all co over for dinner together. Since everyone will be in Yanjing later, often seeing each other, help one another when possible, as we’re all family.”

His words were addressed to Ling Zhengping and Ling Ruonan.

Ling Ruonan quickly nodded, and Ling Zhengping followed suit.

“Dad, rest assured. Luo Xusheng is my brother-in-law, and I will definitely take care of him,” Ling Zhengping earnestly added.

Ling Mingrui glanced at Ling Zhengping, gently nodded, and said nothing more.

“It’s still early for dinner, keep company for a ga of chess!” Ling Mingrui looked at Luo Ziling and requested, then said to Ling Ruonan and Ling Zhengping, “You two talk amongst yourselves!”

“Alright!” The three of them replied almost in unison.

Luo Ziling stood up and followed Ling Mingrui to the study.

As Ling Mingrui got up, he instructed Ling Haining, who had been silent, “Co in and watch the ga!”

“Yes, Grandpa!” Ling Haining promptly rose from the sofa, glanced at Ling Zhengping, and followed Ling Mingrui and Luo Ziling into the study.

Inside the study, Luo Ziling, familiar with the place, started readying the chessboard and pieces, while Ling Haining hurriedly stepped forward to assist.

“Do you play chess?” Luo Ziling asked Ling Haining with a smile, “Why don’t you play a ga with Grandfather first?”

“His chess skills are too poor!” Ling Mingrui declined directly, not sparing Ling Haining, who was looking hesitant, “Today you will watch the ga, and observe how we play chess.”

“Alright, Grandpa!” Ling Haining quickly agreed.

He felt sowhat annoyed, believing Luo Ziling was deliberately causing him embarrassnt.

Yet, he dared not voice his anger!

Luo Ziling sat down and once again chose the black pieces, maintaining the sa broad and bold approach as before in his chess play.

After a few moves, Ling Mingrui looked up and said to Ling Haining, “Your strategy is too petty. Look, Ziling’s ga represents the grand picture, not confining to disputes in a small corner but focusing on the entire situation.”

Hearing this, Luo Ziling couldn’t help frowning.

It turned out Ling Mingrui intended to use the chess ga to educate Ling Haining.

It seed he had beco a tool again.

With this thought in mind, Luo Ziling felt sowhat angered, showing no concession during the ga, assertively pressing Ling Mingrui and keeping him constantly tense.

Ultimately, Ling Mingrui conceded mid-ga.

Upon conceding, he gave Luo Ziling a aningful look, chuckled helplessly.

Then, he asked Ling Haining, “You watched our ga; what did you think you learned?”

Ling Haining opened his mouth but didn’t know what to say.

Ling Mingrui added, “You always play chess with very cautiously, unable to relax, and given your poor skills, you can’t win even with a handicap of four pieces. Chess, like character, reflects who you are. Watch more when Ziling and others play chess, learn by following closely. You may be older than him, but your assertiveness in actions is far inferior; learning from him will not belittle you.”

Ling Haining had no choice but to nod.

“You may leave now,” Ling Mingrui waved to Ling Haining.

Ling Haining, feeling liberated, quickly ran out.

“If you have any discontent, tell directly!” Ling Mingrui straightforwardly said to Luo Ziling, “I know you have a lot of grievances within you.”
