Capítulo 2284: Chapter 2284: Truly Impressed
Finally, the colonel admitted that he had misspoken earlier and provided his reasons for the mistake.
He said it was Luo Ziling who agitated him, and he was so upset that he spoke carelessly, though that was not his intention.
With a loud “bang,” Li Haiyang slamd the table heavily.
He hit it so hard that the table actually broke apart.
Luckily, Luo Ziling reacted quickly and dodged aside, otherwise the spilled tea would have landed on him.
Li Haiyang wasn’t as nimble, and since he didn’t expect to break the table with a single slap, the shattered table fell onto him, soaking him with tea.
However, Li Haiyang did not mind; he stood up with a commanding presence and harshly reprimanded the colonel: “You all put up such a posture that even I dared not breathe heavily. How dare a young man, never exposed to such situations, threaten you in this setting? You lose composure in front of him? You think I’m an idiot?”
“He really did so,” the colonel sweated on his forehead, “He showed no cooperation in answering our questions…”
Li Haiyang abruptly interrupted him, “He did nothing illegal or against discipline, yet you demand him to confess errors, clearly trying to extort a confession. After he protested, you were helpless, claiming that his dical treatnt for using quality dicine below cost was exploitative, and said my injury was a private matter, with his treatnt being purely personal.”
Upon saying this, Li Haiyang softened his tone, chuckled, and looked at Wu Haijun: “Comrade General Wu, the soldiers you’ve trained are indeed extraordinary. I plan to share this wisdom with other colleagues, and I’m curious if the veteran soldiers who have fought countless tis for the country would feel happy or sad hearing this!”
“Old Li, please don’t do this,” Wu Haijun quickly apologized, “It’s just careless words from them, not our stance, rely personal remarks from him. Rest assured, we’ll definitely deal with such erroneous statents. Still, I hope the investigation can be clarified soon, ending the matter early, so no one has to face difficulties, wouldn’t you agree?”
He then smiled at Luo Ziling: “Comrade Luo, we’re just following orders to act and investigate. I hope you can describe so events, and after recording them, we’ll complete our task.”
“So just recounting the events is enough? I don’t need to confess to mistakes?” Luo Ziling pointed to the colonel and spoke sowhat emotionally, “He said I must confess to what mistakes I’ve made and that I can only leave after admitting errors. I feel I’ve done nothing wrong in these matters, so there’s nothing I need to say. As a result, he got agitated, claiming that treating General Li was wrong and that General Li’s injury was a personal matter. Since he’s already disabled, further treatnt is a waste, better to save dical expenses for the country. He insisted my treatnt of General Li was incorrect and demanded I admit fault. When I refused, he got angry.”
The colonel didn’t expect Luo Ziling to add fuel to the fire and accuse him further, sweating even more.
But before he could defend himself, Wu Haijun waved his hand to silence him and reprimanded, “Go back to the office and write an inspection report, clearly explaining today’s matter. I will personally handle Mr. Luo’s questioning.”
“Yes!” The colonel saluted Wu Haijun and then left briskly.
But when he reached the door, he was halted by Li Haiyang.
“What, you see as a criminal? No need for a salute?” Li Haiyang pointed to the stars on his shoulder with a cold smirk at the colonel, “What do the regulations say? When eting an officer with a higher rank, one must salute, did you forget?”
The colonel had no choice but to run back, stood at attention, and saluted Li Haiyang.
Li Haiyang returned the salute and then shouted, “Get out!”
After the colonel hurriedly escaped, Li Haiyang turned to Wu Haijun and said, “Will today’s matter be reported by you voluntarily, or shall I inform them?”
This made Wu Haijun’s eyes change, and he eventually forced a bitter smile: “Better not trouble General Li, I’ll write a report!”
“Will you shoulder the bla yourself, or let the colonel take it?” Li Haiyang ignored Wu Haijun’s forced smile and changes in address, coldly continuing, “If you take the bla, you likely won’t wear this uniform anymore. If the colonel shoulders it, his career is over, and you’ll also be implicated.”
“Do you want to drive us to ruin?” Wu Haijun’s expression changed again.
“Don’t assu that your inspection team is formidable, nor think Wu Jiangshan will look after you because he’s your fellow townsman. To speak bluntly, whether Wu Jiangshan can withstand this incident is uncertain. If you’re smart, you’ll know what to do!” Li Haiyang said and abruptly smacked Wu Haijun’s shoulder.
Wu Haijun’s expression changed again with Li Haiyang’s words.
Although both had the sa rank, their positions varied substantially.
Li Haiyang had held the position of Dragon Rise’s Sect Leader for many years, with no higher comndation among officers of the sa rank.
Li Haiyang was highly esteed in the military headquarters, otherwise, he wouldn’t have transitioned to a pivotal departnt, continuing to oversee special operations after leaving Dragon Rise.
Of course, Ling Mingrui’s strong support played a part.
As a seasoned veteran of special operations, his presence was unmatched by those inexperienced in warfare.
Furthermore, Li Haiyang feared nothing, therefore Wu Haijun could not compare to him.
Even though Wu Haijun’s position was quite good, it struck fear into many officers; it was still incomparable to Li Haiyang’s prestige, not to ntion his presence.
Wu Haijun glanced at Li Haiyang but said nothing. After taking two deep breaths, he moved to the seat that the colonel had just vacated and signaled to the other lieutenant colonel, “Begin recording!”
He personally questioned Luo Ziling, ensuring that the necessary procedures were completed.
Li Haiyang signaled to Luo Ziling, and Luo Ziling understood, cooperatively sat at his original seat, explaining the situation and submitting all relevant docunts.
Once the recording was complete, Wu Haijun did not further trouble Luo Ziling and Li Haiyang, allowing them to leave.
While exiting the interrogation room, he impassively said to Li Haiyang and Luo Ziling: “Gentlen, I’m truly sorry, we’re only acting under orders. Any offenses, please forgive us. As for the materials you’ve submitted, we’ll report them together. We have no authority over the final results, everything awaits upper managent.”
“Then we’re off!” Li Haiyang chuckled and gestured to Luo Ziling, “It’s still early, let’s have tea together.”
“Sure!” Luo Ziling readily agreed.
