Capítulo 2291: Chapter 2291: You Must Be Careful

Luo Ziling had just finished the first chess ga with Ling Mingrui when Ling Ruonan arrived.

The first ga was a victory for Luo Ziling, winning by a significant margin.

He had five more points than Ling Mingrui.

The result was a bit unexpected for Ling Mingrui.

During the ga, even though Ling Mingrui had a lot to say to Luo Ziling, it surprisingly didn’t affect Luo Ziling’s focus or skill — a rare ability in the average person.

After Ling Ruonan arrived, she walked over to where they were playing chess, greeted them but did not ask about the ga. She watched the elder and the younger play for a while before heading to the inner room to talk to Xie Enhua.

“When you visited the old man, what did he say?” Ling Mingrui hoped that Luo Ziling would voluntarily share what happened earlier with Ling Jinhua, but since Luo Ziling didn’t ntion it, Ling Mingrui finally couldn’t resist asking.

After thinking seriously, Luo Ziling realized that what Ling Jinhua said seed to lack practical value.

He couldn’t summarize what Ling Jinhua was trying to convey in particular.

But he understood one thing, Ling Jinhua wasn’t unhappy with him.

He also understood another point: Ling Jinhua had so criticisms about Ling Mingrui.

He sensed this from sothing Ling Jinhua later said: No wonder your grandfather looks at you differently.

The words contained significant implications!

However, Luo Ziling didn’t disclose this to Ling Mingrui, as he felt it was unethical to sow discord between father and son.

Even though he was aware that Ling Jinhua and Ling Mingrui had differing views and even disagreents on so matters.

After Luo Ziling spoke, Ling Mingrui looked at Luo Ziling with curiosity, but finally didn’t pursue the topic.

After a short pause, he asked about matters related to marriage, inquiring about Luo Ziling’s perspectives on the union between the Ling and Yang families.

“Grandfather, both Qingyin and I are still young, I’m not even of legal marrying age, so it’s too early to consider marriage. Let’s discuss it after a few years, okay?” After pausing, Luo Ziling added, “Anyway, Qingyin and I are closely involved now, also expressing this intention. Who knows what the situation will be in a few years?”

Ling Mingrui did not express his stance, but silently continued playing chess.

Following this, he didn’t bring up this topic again, nor did he say much; he focused solely on the chess ga.

In the second ga, Ling Mingrui lost again, though by a smaller margin—one and a half points.

After losing two consecutive gas, Ling Mingrui lost interest in continuing and got up to leave.

Luo Ziling quickly followed him out.

Ling Ruonan and Xie Enhua were still discussing matters in the living room; upon seeing the two co out, they halted their conversation and stood to greet them.

But Ling Mingrui didn’t engage much in conversation with Ling Ruonan.

After dinner, he called Ling Ruonan to the study for a one-on-one chat.

The father and daughter didn’t speak for long; after twenty minutes together, they erged.

Luo Ziling and Xie Enhua hadn’t delved into their topic yet when the conversation ended, leaving both surprised.

“You should head back!” Ling Mingrui proactively issued an invitation to leave, “Ziling still needs to go to Hengdian tomorrow, and sumr will see him heading to the Northwest. Prepare well before going. If you have spare ti, co over for a al with us.”

“Dad, Mom, I’ll make ti to co for als often!” Ling Ruonan said goodbye with a smile to Ling Mingrui and Xie Enhua.

In the car on the way back, Ling Ruonan asked Luo Ziling, “What did Grandfather tell you just now?”

Imdiately after, she stopped Luo Ziling from speaking further, “Let’s talk at ho!”

Luo Ziling could only nod in agreent.

Once at ho, Ling Ruonan pulled Luo Ziling directly into the study to ask about it.

Luo Ziling honestly recounted everything to Ling Ruonan.

“My father actually trusts you more?” Ling Ruonan showed her astonishnt to Luo Ziling. “Things he didn’t ntion to .”

“What did he tell you then?” Luo Ziling asked in surprise.

Ling Ruonan shared what Ling Mingrui had told her earlier.

Most of what Ling Mingrui discussed with Ling Ruonan revolved around Luo Xusheng.

He said Luo Xusheng wouldn’t face trouble, though internal struggles within Dragon Rise wouldn’t cease imdiately.

Ling Mingrui also touched on issues between Ling Ruonan and Ling Zhengping, but he didn’t ntion anything regarding Yan Shiliang or Wu Jiangshan.

“Grandfather knew we’d communicate once we returned, so what he told he didn’t share with you, and vice versa!” Luo Ziling chuckled aloud.

Ling Ruonan shot Luo Ziling a disapproving look.

Ling Ruonan further inquired about Luo Ziling’s visit with Ling Jinhua, and Luo Ziling shared everything candidly.

After hearing it, Ling Ruonan remained silent for a mont.

Observing Ling Ruonan lost in thought, Luo Ziling stayed quiet and sat beside her.

“It seems the Fang Family wants to purge two who’ve betrayed them, while your grandfather also aims to completely remove those two — you’ve got lucky you didn’t face trouble, and your grandfather supports you.” Ling Ruonan said with a slight sigh.

“Mom, isn’t that a good thing? Why are you sighing?”

“Things aren’t as simple as you think. Wu Jiangshan and Yan Shiliang aren’t ordinary individuals; they’ve worked tirelessly to reach their positions. They’re entangled with many others. Their departure will surely burden many. Such events are not dismissed lightly.” Ling Ruonan spoke solemnly, “In the next period, many significant events will undoubtedly occur, with many fates completely altered because of them.”

“Our fate seems locked in as pawns for now.” Luo Ziling managed a bitter smile.

“Your grandfather hopes for you and is willing to give you opportunities; you mustn’t let him down.” Ling Ruonan earnestly warned, “Even if frequently reckless with your ventures, your results aren’t too poor. But don’t assu you can keep this up. Your Great Grandfather is probably discontented with you; and the Fang Family, always treating us kindly, will turn against us. If we find ourselves in a trap, your grandfather’s hands may be tied.”

“Mom, I’m heading to Hengdian tomorrow and then to the Northwest in a few days, far from Yanjing; they surely won’t pursue across the country, right?” Luo Ziling seed indifferent, “I didn’t expect events to reach conclusions so quickly, or regret that I couldn’t witness a spectacle. Well now, the results are known, but the spectacle feels flawed.”

“While away, enjoy yourself, and don’t worry about matters in Yanjing; for now, our sky’s unchanged.” Ling Ruonan grasped Luo Ziling’s hand, gently patting it, adding, “Nonetheless, be cautious not to give leverage to others. Trusted or not, never let them seize your lifeline, understand? If it surely arises, acts must be definitive.”

Ling Ruonan’s words startled Luo Ziling; he didn’t understand precisely what she ant…
