“Thank you for the reminder, cousin,” Luo Ziling said with a smile, thanking him and replying with neither servility nor overbearingness, “I’ll pay attention to that.”
He did not deny pursuing Yang Qingyin and Ouyang Feifei; admitting or denying such matters was not important.
Ling Haining and Ling Haijun did not say much more either. After exchanging a few pleasantries, they returned to sit with their group of people.
On the way back, Ling Haining seriously instructed Ling Haijun, “Rember, never reveal the true identity of the Luo surna. They must not know unless they find out for themselves. I want to see what the end will be for the Luo surna, competing for won with Chen Jiahai and Fang Dongxun.”
“Brother, that kid can really fight; last ti, several of my bodyguards ganged up on him and still couldn’t match him,” Ling Haijun also whispered a reminder to Ling Haining, “No matter what, we must avoid direct conflicts with him, or we’ll be the ones to suffer.”
“I understand,” Ling Haining nodded, “When the ti is right, we’ll find a few real martial arts masters to test just how good his skills are.”
Ling Haijun nodded and continued in a low voice, “Best to cripple him during the test, but that bitch Ling Ruonan…”
“Shut up,” Ling Haining scolded angrily, giving Ling Haijun a scare before saying viciously, “Ling Ruonan is our aunt, a person deeply respected by our grandfather and father. What’s your status to dare call her a bitch? Do you believe I will report your words to our aunt?”
Ling Haijun’s legs went weak with fright, and he hurriedly begged for rcy, pleading with Ling Haining not to tell Ling Ruonan about what he just said, or he would be dead.
Ling Haijun thought he was sharing a hatred of the enemy with Ling Haining, which is why he dared to speak ill of Ling Ruonan in front of him. He did not expect such an outco and regretted it so much that he wanted to bash his head against a wall.
“Rember, do not indulge in quick-witted remarks. Misfortunes co from the mouth. You must bear this in mind, lest trouble follows you constantly,” Ling Haining warned again before sitting back down next to Fang Dongxun.
The others were having lively discussions all this ti, and when they saw Ling Haining and Ling Haijun return, they made room for them once again.
“Mr. Ling, you also know soone?” Fang Dongxun deliberately brought up Luo Ziling. “Who was that just now? Your friend?”
“Yes,” Ling Haining nodded, but then imdiately shook his head, “Actually, not really a friend. It’s just that the person had a conflict with Haijun before, so we got to know each other. As the saying goes, ‘No fight, no acquaintance.’ However, it seems I know that guy is pursuing Ouyang Feifei and it appears Ouyang Feifei looks favorably upon him.”
As Ling Haining said this, he glanced at Chen Jiahai, who was sipping tea.
Chen Jiahai of course understood Ling Haining’s intentions and, although annoyed inside, did not show any displeasure on his face.
“If he can win Ouyang Feifei’s heart, that’s his ability,” Chen Jiahai simply stated and glanced at Fang Dongxun, “But I’ve heard that the kid has a good relationship with Qingyin. They appeared together at the National Museum last ti, looking like a couple.”
Fang Dongxun, lacking the composure of the others, stiffened upon hearing Chen Jiahai’s words, glaring at him angrily, “Is Mr. Chen trying to provoke ? Do you want to step up today and teach that kid a lesson? I heard that the last ti soone tried to teach the kid a lesson, they were beaten half to death by him.”
“Is he that formidable?” Ling Haining feigned disbelief, “He crippled soone and got away with it? What kind of background does he have?”
Ling Haijun almost sprayed the tea in his mouth when he heard that, as his cousin seed to have quite impressive acting skills.
“Oh, I thought Mr. Ling knew about his background, you two seed to be chatting quite amiably just now,” Chen Jiahai laughed and said, “And yet you’re asking us about his background?”
Not surprised at all, Ling Haining chuckled and then said, “Like I said, we t after a fight last ti; I had no idea I’d run into him here today. It was quite a surprise, so I just went over to say hello.”
At this point, Wu Zhongning, Yang Qingyin’s first cousin, couldn’t restrain himself. Frowning, he asked the others, “Tell , Mr. Ling, Mr. Chen, Mr. Fang, are you really that wary of this kid? He fought with you, wants to steal your goddess, and yet you are so indifferent? Are you the sa Mr. Ling, Mr. Fang, Mr. Chen I know? If it were , had he been so arrogant, I would’ve crippled him by now.”
In the opulent circles of Yanjing, there was no family with the surna Luo, and Wu Zhongning had never seen this person before. Therefore, he found it hard to understand why these usually bumptious young masters, who never regarded anyone as worth noticing, were being so restrained today.
To encounter soone with whom they had fought, soone who was after their woman, and yet not go over to deal with him but instead treat him with such courtesy was baffling.
“He is pursuing your cousin, and I heard your uncle doesn’t agree. Would you dare to teach him a lesson?” Ling Haining smiled as he retorted to Wu Zhongning’s comnts, “I sure wouldn’t dare; this is Ouyang Huihui’s birthday party after all!”
“Fine, you’re all gentlen,” Wu Zhongning understood what Ling Haining was saying. Even though the Ouyang Family’s political standing was sowhat lower, their wealth was incomparable to other families. It truly took a lot of courage to willfully cause trouble at Ouyang Huihui’s birthday.
Ling Haining, Chen Jiahai, and Fang Dongxun were no common rich heirs. They often hung out together but were competitive and fought fiercely. The prodding they engaged in today was to hope soone would step forward and cause a scene, yet they were sure to observe from the sidelines.
Whether it was Fang Dongxun or Chen Jiahai, if they were to deal with Luo Ziling alone, their approach might not have been so passive. They simply didn’t want to offend the Ouyang Family or have tales spread about them fighting over a woman with another man.
Talking about won in jest was one thing, but taking it too far was not on. Since Luo Ziling couldn’t be dealt with at the party, they lost interest in talking about him. So, after chatting idly for a bit more, the conversation returned to cars and the usual diversions.
Ouyang Huihui, when she saw Ling Haining and Ling Haijun approach Luo Ziling, genuinely feared they might start a fight, but after witnessing the three of them chatting enthusiastically, she finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Unable to arrive at once, Ouyang Feifei had invited guests who had all arrived, and it wouldn’t be proper to keep them waiting. As the host, she had to do sothing. Thus, she had the lights brightened, grabbed a microphone, and prepared to say a few words.
Just then, the door to the room was pushed open, and a young man peeked his head in before entering.
What left Luo Ziling stunned was that it was actually Yang Qingye.
This Mr. Yang, how could he also be attending Ouyang Huihui’s birthday party?
What shocked Luo Ziling even more happened soon after. Yang Qingye, after apologetically explaining his tardiness to Ouyang Huihui and presenting his birthday gift, strode toward Luo Ziling.
“Brother-in-law, there you are!”
A single “brother-in-law” stunned the audience.
