Chapter 421: Let’s Spar with Each Other

(Chapter Sixteen)

“Mrs. Ling, I’ve co to freeload a al along with Ziling,” Yang Qingyin said sweetly and gently when she saw Ling Ruonan, looking every bit the well-behaved little wife.

“Don’t ntion it, coming empty-handed is fine, why did you buy so many things?” Ling Ruonan’s gaze toward Luo Ziling was very gentle, and she was all smiles when speaking to Yang Qingyin.

Yang Qingyin returned a sweet smile and took the initiative to ntion that it was her who had asked Luo Ziling to join her at the Sumr Palace, and unexpectedly received a call from Ling Ruonan while preparing to go out, so she shalessly ca over to freeload a al. After explaining, she added, “Mrs. Ling, Ziling was even reluctant to bring over for dinner!”

Such behavior pleased Ling Ruonan greatly.

Of course, she was well aware that this woman from the Yang Family, famous in the outside world, was not as pure and simple inside as she appeared, but rather a woman with quite a bit of cunning. Her earlier performance had confird this. Yang Qingyin’s deanor was natural, and the underlying aning of her words was a deliberate demonstration of her close relationship with Luo Ziling and the lack of barriers between her and Luo Ziling’s mother.

This young woman, with her intelligence, had successfully made the mother* develop a feeling of closeness to her, without any awkwardness between them. Ling Ruonan was naturally quite pleased with Yang Qingyin’s behavior.

Most girls would be reserved on their first visit to their boyfriend’s ho, but not Yang Qingyin.

Of course, this also made Ling Ruonan sowhat wary of her, afraid that her son, who was not very savvy in social affairs and not good at competing with others, might be outwitted by Yang Qingyin. If Yang Qingyin had no sches up her sleeve, she wouldn’t have been able to perform this well.

After all, the relationship between the Ling and Yang families was not good at that ti, with intense competition between them, and even “deep-seated grudges” against the Luo Family.

After so idle chitchat, Ling Ruonan let Luo Ziling and Yang Qingyin sit and chat over tea, while she went to prepare dinner.

Luo Ziling had initially wanted to help, but seeing that Yang Qingyin was there, he tactfully refrained from actively offering.

Yet, Yang Qingyin took the initiative to offer her help in the kitchen to Ling Ruonan: “Mrs. Ling, let help you. Although I don’t know how to cook, I can wash and chop vegetables. I can also take the chance to learn so cooking skills from you.”

“Alright,” Ling Ruonan didn’t refuse and let Yang Qingyin follow her into the kitchen.

This surprised Luo Ziling.

But it also relieved him.

Seizing the opportunity with both won in the kitchen, he walked out to stroll in the garden.

“Young Master,” as Luo Ziling stepped into the garden, he heard soone calling him from behind.

Turning around, he saw it was Wuyue, and he quickly stopped in his tracks.

“Is sothing the matter?” he asked in a low voice, with a smile on his face, as Wuyue approached.

Wuyue warned him in a soft voice, “Soone was following you earlier, and there were people who followed us in a car too.”

Luo Ziling was unconcerned, laughing as he replied, “It’s probably Yang Qingyin’s henchman, she always has a bodyguard close by.”

“Still, Young Master should be more careful, to avoid being set up by the Yang Family again,” Wuyue finally mustered the courage to remind him directly. “No one can guarantee the Yang Family won’t do sothing again.”

Actually, Wuyue wanted to remind Luo Ziling to avoid being seen with Yang Qingyin as much as possible because it could bring a lot of trouble and make it difficult for Ling Ruonan. However, as an outsider, she couldn’t bring herself to say it directly, so she could only hint subtly.

“Thank you for the reminder, Sister Wuyue, I’ll definitely keep it in mind,” Luo Ziling responded sincerely, having grasped the gist of Wuyue’s aning, and thanked her earnestly.

“It’s nothing!” Wuyue smiled.

“Sister Wuyue,” Luo Ziling called out to her as she was about to leave, “since dinner is still a while away, how about we spar and practice martial arts? What do you think?”

He had previously promised Wuyue a chance to spar and help improve her combat skills, but there had been no opportunity until now.

Today was a perfect chance, so Luo Ziling directly proposed it.

Wuyue hesitated for a mont at the unexpected suggestion from Luo Ziling but ultimately agreed.

In the courtyard, there was a large pavilion, and the walkway on the outside was covered with vines, conveniently blocking the view from outside.

The first ti Luo Ziling saw that pavilion, he thought it was a great place for practicing martial arts – as long as they didn’t fight too fiercely, it wouldn’t damage the pavilion, and the space seed ample.

So, the two headed to the pavilion, took their stances, and began testing each other’s skills.

True to her reputation as a female elite of the Navy Marine Corps, Wuyue’s skills were quite good. In Luo Ziling’s estimation, she was not far behind Lin Lan.

Wuyue initially had her reservations, but after sparring with Luo Ziling for a while and realizing that his martial arts were far superior to what she had anticipated, she let go of her caution and quickened her pace to attack.

As the two “fought,” it naturally disturbed Ling Ruonan and Yang Qingyin, who were in the kitchen preparing dinner. The two won, wearing aprons, ran out to watch. After understanding that the two were only sparring and Luo Ziling was trying to instruct Wuyue to help her improve, they went back to the kitchen to continue their busy work.

Although the pavilion was small, both of them were agile; they hopped and leaped around the place, thoroughly enjoying the bout.

Wuyue’s moves were similar to Lin Lan’s, with a focus on practicality rather than flashiness. Each attack aid for vital points. Luo Ziling also learned a lot from her. The martial arts taught by his grandfather were not as ruthless and had similarities with other traditional styles, not primarily aid at killing. Learning so lethal moves from them significantly enhanced his attacking prowess.

Being able to dominate in battles with them wasn’t because of his exquisite technique, but rather his speed.

His pace was not just a little but significantly faster than the average person; hence he could get the upper hand in confrontations with Fenghuang.

Before the opponent could execute their deadly techniques, he would neutralize them, and his swift attacks left the opponent struggling to respond.

After sparring for more than ten minutes, Wuyue gradually started to fall behind, even though Luo Ziling had approached the match with the intention of using it as a learning opportunity. Had he sought victory from the start and fought recklessly, Wuyue would have been defeated sooner.

In the end, when Wuyue rushed forward with a hasty kick, Luo Ziling reacted quickly, catching her long leg in his arms, and moved in to secure a hold. “Hehe, Sister Wuyue, I win,” he said and released her leg, stepping back a couple of strides.

Wuyue’s face turned slightly red, and she looked sowhat embarrassed, but she stepped back and pretended to tidy her disheveled hair to cover up her discomfort.

When Luo Ziling had caught her leg and moved in to pin her down, he accidentally touched a sensitive area on her body, which made her feel embarrassed. Had it been soone else, she would have exploded with anger ready to exact revenge.

Of course, she believed that Luo Ziling did not do it on purpose but rather it was a subconscious action.
