Arad's face twisted as he took a step away from the dead heart. The thing nacingly glowed with eldritch magic, it started beating again, and blood splashed from its veins. The harrowing sight quickly changed as the blood coagulated, hardening into veins, then bones, and lastly into flesh. In front of Arad's eyes, a whole body was born from it.
He was there. Wearing a white robe, a young man in his early twenties with striking, silky white hair, glowing blue eyes that illuminated the darkness, and a long, steel sword. His re presence seed to shed light on the endless darkness of the cavern, and it was then that Arad realised, this is why Hati would get mad.
The last barrier protecting the overgod's dead heart… It's the overgod's human body, the one she fell in love with. Or at least a copy of it born from the heart. And Arad knew what he had to do, simply because the copy held a sword in its hand.
"I have to kill you, right?" Arad growled, and the overgod stared at him with a smile.
"If you think this is a copy, you'll be sorry." It spoke, no, he spoke. "This is my actual human body. When my human heart lived long enough and finally died, I sealed my whole body into it."
"I didn't expect this." Arad smiled and pulled his dragon slayer sword. "But fine, so be it. It's just your human body, before you attained divinity. I defeated my demi-gods, and today won't be any different." Arad was more worried that the echoes of their battle would reach the outside and harm his wives. But he could also expect the mountain's hard shell to hold up.
"Arad Orion, you can call Cain." Cain lifted his sword, looked at it with a gentle smile. "Inanna…a beautiful sword, isn't it?"
"It is indeed," Arad replied, slowly walking around Cain and inspecting him. Cain looked young, thin, and brimming with magic. He could've sword Cain was a mage if not for the sword he carried… no, he is a mage, only that he is holding a sword instead of a staff or a wand.
Cain's body also looked a bit familiar, similar to Gojo and Jack, with his white hair and blue eyes. Those were the marks of a high human. Arad knew from rlin that high humans were blessed by a talent for magic, except Jack, who seed to lack it. Cain here looks to be a mage, so he is physically weak compared to his magic, of course. Arad still expects Cain to be able to punch like a monster.
"Done inspecting ?" Cain said with a smile, slowly turning his head to look at Arad with a grin. "I'm not used to anyone looking at for that long. Except my wives."
Arad didn't care; all that mattered now was learning as much as he could before the fight started. He would rather spend more ti inspecting such a powerful foe. "Really? Why is that? You remind of my older brother. That's why I was just looking for a bit, you might be his runaway father."
"Sadly, I don't know. All I know besides the mories of my life as a human is your na and the fact that you'll co find ." Cain turned to face. "If you managed to kill and take the heart. I'll return to my true soul. And besides, even as a human, I can't count the won I've slept with. I'm sure that I kept doing that even after becoming a god."
"Really?" Arad lifted an eyebrow. "They must've hated you."
Cain chuckled, "The opposite. I made sure they also loved each other, that's why they could still love , even if there were tens of them." Cain finally lifted his sword up, "But enough of this talk. Ready to fight? Or do you still need to inspect for a bit longer?"
Cain was already aware that Arad was intentionally stalling for ti. And now that Arad knew that he couldn't hide anymore, he sighed, "Does it matter?"
"No, take your ti. But how have the tables shifted? rlin spent a week inspecting you."
Hearing those words, Arad realised that sothing was off. "Wait… how do you know that? Your mories are cut off at the ti you were human."
Cain smiled, "How else? While you're inspecting , I'm doing the sa. Been reading your thoughts and mories for a while now." It was then that Arad lunged at him. Knowing about the overgod before fighting him was important, but it was also important to hide his cards from him, especially since he can read mories and Arad can't.
To Arad's surprise, Cain easily blocked his downward slash and then twisted his sword, deflecting the attack to the ground. Arad blinked; he couldn't even see Cain's arm move. But before that thought could finish inside his head, Cain slashed at him with enough force to cause a shockwave.
Arad coughed blood, his torso slashed open, and his body was flung backward at blinding speed. But before he could fly even one ter away, Cain appeared behind him and slashed upward, cutting Arad through the back, and deflected him upward.
Before Arad could fly even two ters upward, Cain's sword was already coming down at his skull, and it smacked him straight down. The only thing keeping Arad in one piece was the barriers that Kayden taught him.
Cain stood ten ters away from him, a gentle smile on his face. He swung his sword with grace, only using his right hand for the swing. Suddenly, a wave of magic burst from the blade and flew at Arad, exploding on his body and illuminating the room with blinding light. Cain then threw several more slashes before Arad's mind finally ford the thought about him being attacked.
A black barrier of the void slowly covered Arad's body. It wasn't that Arad was slow… it was just that Cain was much, much faster, probably even rivalling Betty in speed… No, he was slower, a lot slower.
But before Arad's barrier could fully form, Cain was already behind him, slashed it open and punched Arad out, delivered several heavy kicks enough to pulverise his bones, and then slashed all of his tendons one after another. Arad's body started emitting radiation as a defensive asure… but the overgod looked unfazed. He instead punched Arad so hard that he sent him to the ceiling and made him bounce back down, at which point he punched him again.
Cain bounced Arad from the ceiling several tis before finally brandishing the sword again in a brilliant flash. Moving so fast, he left several dozen mirages around, he slashed at Arad from every direction possible.
As Arad fell to the ground, Cain looked back at him, "You don't have a chance against in that human form, and neither in your draconic form. I'm pure light, and if you want to bury , you'll need to turn into darkness."
As Arad's body regenerated, Cain stood there, looking at him with a smile as if he wasn't the one who mutilated him in less than a second just a mont ago.
