Now reading: Chapter 213 - 212: The boss’s heart is in a dark place, but from The world has turned into Hell's Game, why should I stay human?, a Fantasy novel by Runaway Bottle.

Pale, long legs pierced into the blood-red neck.

The scene looked bizarre and gory, but there was also a strange, eerie beauty to it.

Then, in the next second, the only thing left before Liu Zheng’s eyes was the eeriness.

The black tendrils, as if alive, burrowed deep into the headless deer.

The red blood that had been gushing turned into black "oil," and black water began oozing from the surface of the deer’s body, enveloping it completely.

Soon, the headless deer had transford into a monster that seed to be made of accumulated oil.

"Close your eyes."

Si Xue suddenly said.

Liu Zheng quickly averted his gaze and then closed his eyes.

In the instant before he closed his eyes, he seed to see countless eyes opening inside the oily monster.

"Okay, you can open them now."

After an indeterminate amount of ti, Si Xue spoke.

Liu Zheng opened his eyes to find the oily monster gone, with Si Xue holding a pitch-black deer head in her hands.

Black viscous fluid oozed out of the severed neck and was sucked back in through the ear holes, completing the cycle.

"Take it."

Si Xue said indifferently.

"Sure, boss."

He took the Black Deer Head, but no item description popped up.

"Uh, boss, do you have a container or sothing? I’m afraid I’ll lose it if I just carry it around and ss up your business."

Liu Zheng said.

Such a large head, and he couldn’t put it into his system space; if he put it in his delivery box, there’d be no room for anything else.

"What a hassle."

Si Xue glanced at him sideways and with a "rip" tore off a piece of her dress, wrapping the Black Deer Head in it.

The exposed thigh and calf were smooth and flawless, cleaner than if they had been laser hair removed.

"Thank you, boss."

Liu Zheng stuffed the Black Deer Head, now shrunk to the size of a fist, into his delivery box.

"So, what reward do you want?"

Si Xue asked.

"Can I save it for later?"

He inquired.

"Sure, but there’s a limit of only one."

"Then I’ll use it."

Liu Zheng changed his mind.

"You’ve got one minute to think, after which it becos void."

Si Xue sat cross-legged on the grass, sounding a bit breathless.

One minute is not even enough to decide what to eat for dinner, let alone all the things he needed to do, which were piling up like mountains.

Countless ideas and thoughts rushed at him, but one notion cut through the chaos and blurted out.

"Boss, I’m to accompany soone to a salon, can you give so advice?"

"Huh?"

A look of rare confusion appeared on Si Xue’s face.

"I figured with your noble status, you must be experienced."

Liu Zheng scratched his head as he spoke.

"I’m not wondering why you’re asking for salon advice, I’m curious why you got invited to a salon in the first place,"

Si Xue said, looking at him.

"A delivery guy like you, aren’t you a bit too capable?"

"It’s all thanks to your support, boss,"

He said modestly.

"I don’t have that much power to support you. At the rate you’re going, there might co a day when I need your support,"

Si Xue spoke as if in all seriousness.

"Boss, you’re just mocking now. I’m nothing more than a little grass beneath your towering tree; no matter how tall I grow, I’ll never surpass you,"

"So eloquent, and still worried about a salon? I think you’re fit enough to be a spokesperson at City Hall."

Si Xue quipped.

"Not at all. Only you, boss, would entertain advice like this. If I were anywhere else, I’d not even have the chance to speak."

Liu’s flattery flowed as freely as sewer water.

And indeed, it was effective.

"That’s actually true,"

Si Xue nodded in agreent.

"You must’ve saved the tropolis in your past life to end up working under as soon as you got hired. If it had been any of the previous ones, they would’ve flayed your skin for a doormat by now."

"That’s for sure, having you as my boss is truly my good fortune,"

He said sincerely.

To be fair, compared to those office building executives who try to make playthings out of their subordinates on the 11th floor, Si Xue was already the conscience of leaders.

"Hmm, you’re sowhat sensible. So, what kind of salon is it?"

Si Xue felt his sincerity and said with satisfaction.

She had been too busy to keep an eye on Liu Zheng, not knowing about such a trivial matter as attending a salon.

"I don’t know the level of it, but they said it’s a salon ball hosted by the tropolitan Writers Association."

Liu Zheng said.

"The tropolitan Writers Association? Will their president be attending?"

Si Xue frowned.

"They didn’t say that."

"Then you’d better pray that person doesn’t co. Otherwise, if he sets his sights on you, unless it acts as your personal bodyguard, nobody can save you," Si Xue stated, pointing at the Gold Star dal on his chest.

"Even you couldn’t save ?"

He said in surprise.

"You’re not attending it in a restaurant, so of course, I can’t do anything about it."

"Then, may I make a phone call to ask?"

Liu Zheng asked for permission.

"Go ahead."

Si Xue waved her hand.

With her consent, Liu Zheng imdiately made a call to the novelist.

"Senior, is sothing the matter?"

The novelist asked.

"It’s like this, will your president be attending the salon tonight?" he asked forthrightly.

"I’m sorry, Senior, but I can’t be sure. Besides the annual eting, the president doesn’t notify us in advance of his attendance."

The novelist replied.

"Okay, got it."

Liu Zheng hung up the phone and looked at Si Xue.

"It seems she wants to turn you into an ex-boyfriend, huh."

Si Xue’s tone was teasing.

"Boss, don’t you think you should protect ? I’ve still got to scout the sewer for you."

"I really can’t protect you, my skills aren’t the right match to deal with him," Si Xue shook her head.

She was better at destruction than protection; ordinary protective asures were of little use against the president of the writers’ association.

In the restaurant, she could use her abilities as the restaurant owner, but outside the restaurant, there was nothing she could do.

Unless she attended the ball with Liu Zheng and, upon eting, slapped the person right away to divert his attention.

"However..."

Just when Liu Zheng was feeling disappointed, Si Xue spoke again.

"There is a way, but the chances of success are very low."

"Tell ."

"There’s nothing much to say, just tell if you’re willing to try. Whether it works or not, I’ll consider it fulfilling the reward."

Si Xue said arrogantly.

"...Okay."

He said resignedly.

Using cleaning as an excuse to cancel his reward, and now presenting him with an option with a very low success rate. Truly befitting of a boss—utterly ruthless.

"Pick up."

Si Xue said.

"Ah, is that appropriate?"

Liu Zheng hesitated.

"What do you think you are in my eyes?"

Si Xue countered.

"Am I not anything?"

"Wrong, you are indeed sothing."

Si Xue said with an impassive face.

"Alright then."

Since she had put it that way, Liu Zheng let go of his inhibitions and stooped to lift her by the waist.

She felt very light and smooth in his arms, like holding a ball of jelly.

Si Xue yawned, then raised her hand.

Boundless flas erupted from beneath the ground, and the lush grasslands were obliterated in an instant, the ground once again transforming into a sea of lava.

Si Xue raised her hand again, and an Obsidian Pillar rose from the Lava Sea.

Liu Zheng’s pupils dilated as he realized that encased within the Obsidian Pillar was the sa Five-Colored Phoenix he had seen before.

"Tell , which one do you embody—benevolence, righteousness, propriety, wisdom, or faithfulness? Think carefully before you answer; choose incorrectly and you might be crushed to death."

Si Xue said.
