"Boss, you’re right, I guess I’ll just keep laying low,"

Xia Kai said admiringly, then decisively hid behind him.

"...Mr. Delivery Man, can I go in now?"

Andrina said speechlessly.

Were these two enjoying their cody routine without considering her feelings?

Not to ntion she couldn’t marry and have children, even if she could, she wouldn’t fancy soone weak like Xia Kai.

Master Beethoven or Liu Zheng would be more like it.

"Wait, what am I thinking?"

Andrina shook her head vigorously, tossing those ssy thoughts to the back of her mind.

She glared fiercely at Xia Kai, who was baffled by her reaction.

Was it really necessary to despise him just because he didn’t accompany her into the cave?

Indeed, the boss was right: Won were trouble, and to live longer, one had to keep a distance from them.

"Alright, go ahead. If anything happens, just scream for help, and I’ll have Xia Kai rush in to save you,"

Liu Zheng said.

"Then I guess I’ll rely on myself for rescue,"

Andrina couldn’t help but retort, then she lifted the foliage covering the cave entrance and walked in.

Soon, a loud gunshot echoed from inside the cave.

"There really was a door ambush. Hey, need help?"

Liu Zheng shouted loudly.

"No need, I can handle it... there’s another one!"

Andrina suddenly cried out, followed by a grunt.

"Alright, you can go play the hero now,"

he said sarcastically, turning his head.

"Who, ? A hero? Boss, you’re the real hero,"

Xia Kai said obsequiously.

"Heh, let’s see you talk tough. Follow !"

He yelled, then took the lead into the cave.

Xia Kai, clutching the boning knife, closely followed him.

The three Gunpowder Hunters exchanged glances, then followed suit.

Upon entering the cave, Liu Zheng imdiately saw the lantern thrown on the ground.

For so reason, the lantern that should have lit up a large area only illuminated a small area around it.

Beyond that, only faint, shadowy figures could be seen.

However, with his heightened perception, he still managed, by the dim light, to spot Andrina in the distance fiercely fighting, and the monsters surrounding her.

Not two, but four.

These monsters seed to have camouflage, even Liu Zheng couldn’t make out their appearance, only their hunched shapes and unusually long arms.

Andrina was swinging her Hunter’s Staff, which had extended into a snake-like shape, coiling and twisting in the air, handled deftly by her strong wrists.

The four monsters continuously probed but couldn’t get close.

Nevertheless, her shoulder was stained with a swathe of blood, clearly injured in the initial ambush.

"Don’t let them extinguish the lantern,"

hearing the footsteps, Andrina shouted loudly.

"Xia Kai, keep an eye on the lantern,"

Liu Zheng commanded.

"Ah? Okay, got it,"

Xia Kai nervously agreed, then ran toward the lantern.

"Follow ."

Liu Zheng led three Gunpowder Hunters toward the battlefield.

The space inside the cave was already small, so they quickly reached Andrina and each selected a monster to confront.

With their help, Andrina finally had a chance to catch her breath.

She stepped back and took out a blood collection device from her coat pocket, sticking it into her injured shoulder.

Her injuries were much more severe than they appeared; the monsters’ claws seed to have penetrating power. Although her hunter suit had remained intact, the wounds underneath were bone-deep.

That Andrina could hold on until their rescue was a testant to her exceptional physique and remarkable perseverance.

However, as the high-quality Holy Blood began to rge with her blood, the torn muscles quickly contracted, and the cracked bones rapidly healed.

She moved her shoulder but did not join the fight right away.

The Hunter’s Staff was a dangerous weapon, not only against enemies but also potentially harmful to herself and her allies.

Especially in such a dark and narrow space, a hasty engagent might do more harm than good.

Of course, Liu Zheng didn’t need her help.

With his perception, he could hear the movents of the monsters even without using his sight.

The broad Slaughter Knife guarded left and right, acting like a shield wall in front of the monster, preventing it from getting close.

He even had the leisure to check on the performance of his new subordinates.

The three Gunpowder Workshop Hunters were doing well, forming a tight triangular formation to counter the attacks of three monsters.

Though they refrained from firing to avoid friendly fire, the heavy gunstock and the blades attached to it still made their strikes lethal.

Their coordination was smooth, and their weapons were well-matched in length, which gave the monsters a hard ti breaking through their defense.

"Xia Kai, bring the lantern here,"

Liu Zheng called out.

"Alright."

Upon hearing the command, Xia Kai imdiately hurried over.

Seeing the firelight approaching, one of the monsters emitted a faint cry, then all four skilfully abandoned their opponents and ran deeper into the cave.

Their movents were incredibly fast, like a streak of darkness rging into the dark.

The three Gunpowder Hunters had no ti to react or see which route they took, and could only watch them escape.

But the one attacking Liu Zheng wasn’t so lucky.

"Trying to run?"

He had swung out his tentacles when the monster made its noise.

Three tentacles shot out, two wrapping around the monster’s hind legs and one around its neck.

Ironically, the monster’s montum was so strong that Liu Zheng didn’t even need to exert force; it flipped over by itself, breaking its neck in the process.

"Think you can run after crossing paths with a delivery guy? Let’s see what you are."

Liu Zheng stepped on the creature, then took the lantern and shone it on its face.

"Squeak!"

The monster let out a miserable screech, frantically trying to shield its face with its arms.

"Geez, that’s pretty ugly."

He gasped upon seeing the creature’s face clearly.

The monster’s mouth split open on both sides, extending dozens of tentacles, resembling the nose of a star-nosed mole in reality.

anwhile, its nose had vanished, leaving only two deep holes that were unclear whether they were actually noses or just cleverly disguised blackheads.

Its entire body was covered with thick hair. Liu Zheng struggled to lift the creature’s fur coat and saw the pale flesh underneath.

"Do you know what this is?"

He asked.

"Not sure, but I’ve encountered similar ones elsewhere,"

Andrina replied.

"Those monsters were different, but they all had similar mouths. They didn’t attack us then but prioritized destroying our lanterns. As the brightness in the Forbidden Forest dropped to its lowest, horrifying things happened."
