Zhang Jinlian was startled and abruptly stepped back. "You really don’t know how to appreciate kindness! I was trying to help you, do you realize that?"

"The hell I do!" The second son spoke with extre crudeness. "Doctor Du saved my mom! Who the hell are you, barging in here and blabbering non-stop? If you say one more word about breaking the law, I’ll beat you to death."

Zhang Jinlian was terrified. Glancing at the furious second son, she quickly backed out. "A bunch of people ignorant of the law! You’ll all end up in jail!"

With that, she hurriedly fled, fearing that if she were a mont slower, this reckless fool would actually strike her.

Just as she stepped out of the hospital room, she bumped into Song at the entrance of the corridor.

However, Song at this mont no longer possessed the vigor he had a week ago; he seed to have lost his spirit and looked completely dispirited.

Zhang Jinlian did not notice this. She excitedly ran up to Song and shouted, "Dean Song, I want to report a violation!"

Song’s eyes lit up for a mont, then quickly dimd again. "Dr. Zhang, if you want to report sothing, you should go to President Du."

"I want to report to..." Zhang Jinlian was dumbfounded. "President Du? Who’s that? Aren’t you the dean?"

Song’s expression shifted. "I’m not the dean anymore. I’ve been transferred to Yanjiawan Health Clinic."

"Yanjiawan?" Zhang Jinlian’s face changed as well.

There were three health clinics in Shanghu District one should avoid. The first was the Zhonghu Town Health Clinic; it was too poor, offering nothing but a basic salary with no opportunities for extra inco. Zhang Jinlian’s resentnt towards Du Heng stemd from his sudden success, which had caused her already scarce pathogen to dwindle even further, reducing her ager bonus to just her base salary.

The second to avoid was Yanjiawan Health Clinic. This was simply because it was located right in front of a crematorium. Although the two facilities were quite far apart, the only road leading up the hill to the Health Clinic passed by the back wall of the crematorium.

The third was GanLake Town. Although the town was affluent, part of a mining area where no family lacked money, it was an isolated little kingdom nestled within a ring of mountains. A trip to the city from there took two hours by car.

Although Zhang Jinlian was shocked by Song’s situation, her main concern was who the new dean was. "Old Song, who is this President Du you ntioned?"

Song grinned. This woman was so pragmatic; as soon as she heard he was no longer the dean, "Dean Song" imdiately beca "Old Song."

Rembering the conflict between Zhang Jinlian and Du Heng, he felt a sense of malicious glee. He wanted to see how this woman would react when she found out it was Du Heng. "President Du is Du Heng."

"Du Heng? Which Du Heng?" Zhang Jinlian felt a knot in her stomach.

"The Du Heng from the Chinese dicine Departnt on the first floor, the one who’s snatching your business."

Zhang Jinlian was stunned. She had never imagined that the ultimate dark horse would be Du Heng.

Dejectedly, she walked back, replaying every detail of her conflicts with Du Heng in her mind.

They didn’t seem like major issues, no significant conflicts.

He wouldn’t retaliate against her, would he?

This guy was a bachelor, and a local too.

He probably wouldn’t, right?

Zhang Jinlian returned to her office and thought for a long ti.

Soon enough, her eyes turned fierce.

"Hello, is this the Drug Administration? I want to report..."

In the hospital room, Wu Buwei felt a little panicked. If this was indeed illegal dealing, the two brothers, as the ones who handled it, couldn’t escape responsibility, and Du Heng couldn’t escape a conviction as an instigator either.

"Where did you two buy the placenta?"

"From the Provincial Won and Children’s Hospital, right outside the delivery room. We bought it from the husband of the woman in childbirth. Dr. Wu, is there really a problem?"

"I don’t know. Let check first. Here, give your mother the dicine."

Wu Buwei took out his phone and started searching. As he delved deeper, the gloom on his face gradually subsided.

"Are you absolutely sure you bought it from the husband of the woman in childbirth, not from a doctor or soone else?"

"Of course! Why would I lie about sothing like this?"

"That’s good, that’s good."

There was a lot of information available online, but it could be summarized in one sentence: the act of individuals or hospitals reselling human placentas for profit was suspected of constituting the cri of illegal business operation.

These two brothers had bought it directly from the woman in childbirth and used it for dicine, without any reselling or profiteering. So, they didn’t have to worry.

Du Heng returned, and everyone he t congratulated him, as if they all already knew he had beco the dean. He had no idea where they got their information, but news always traveled incredibly fast.

Wang Zhenzhen was also very happy. The mont she saw Du Heng, she ran out. "President Du, you’re back?"

Hearing Wang Zhenzhen call him this, Du Heng felt a bit awkward. Initially, Wang Zhenzhen had even offered to help him pull so strings, an offer he had declined at the ti.

Unexpectedly, just over a month had passed, and he really had beco the acting dean.

This was quite awkward.

"Sis, just talk normally."

Wang Zhenzhen feigned annoyance. "You little rascal, you kept your secret quite well, not a single word leaked out! Last ti I even offered to help you network, but it turns out you were already prepared. Seems I was being presumptuous."

Du Heng quickly apologized, "Sis, it’s really not what you think. Even I was dazed after the eting today."

"You know best whether that’s true or not."

"Oh, co on, Sis, you’re really doing an injustice. I swear!"

Wang Zhenzhen laughed. "I’m just teasing you. Congratulations on your promotion."

"Thank you, Sis."

"By the way, hurry upstairs. Song has been here for quite a while."

"Talk later. Let’s have dinner together tonight, and invite Gong."

"That’s more like it. Hurry along now."

Song’s purpose in coming was simple: he needed to do the handover.

Moreover, he had just completed this very task with Li Qingde the previous week. Who would have thought that after the May Day vacation, everything would change so drastically, so quickly?

It was a bit awkward when the two t. They had just sat down, before they could even speak, Du Heng’s phone rang.

"Hello, Director An."

"Xiao Du, I need to ask you sothing, and you must tell the truth." An Chunhui’s tone was grim.

Zhang Jinlian’s report call had a considerable impact, and the Drug Administration was taking it very seriously. Fearing that the person reported might destroy evidence, they were already on their way.

Out of courtesy, they had telephoned Du Heng’s supervisory unit, the Health Bureau.

The person who answered the phone at the Health Bureau was also baffled. Wasn’t the person being reported the sa one who had just been appointed dean at the eting that morning? He’d barely ward the seat, and he was already being reported?

Had the competition at this level beco so ruthless?

Nevertheless, he still inford An Chunhui.

When An Chunhui heard the news, he nearly exploded.

What in the world was going on?

They had just appointed Song, and within two days, he’d caused a major embarrassnt in front of the leadership! A careless comnt from the higher-ups had nearly made An Chunhui wet his pants.

Now, they’d just made a change here, the new appointee probably hadn’t even reached the workplace yet, and there was already another illegal transaction?

Were these people trying to drive him crazy?

Therefore, An Chunhui not cursing out loud on the phone showed the extent of his self-control.

Du Heng, still thinking it was sothing serious, imdiately recounted the entire sequence of events in detail.

After listening, An Chunhui breathed a sigh of relief; at least Du Heng hadn’t dropped the ball.

If this incident had been true, he had already decided. He would definitely make Du Heng the scapegoat first, then go to the leader’s office to formally apologize for his own oversight.

"Xiao Du, the inspection team has arrived. Cooperate with them fully. Don’t carry any ntal burden, and don’t harbor any resentnt towards the organization. This process is also for your protection. As for those who deliberately slander and tarnish the reputation of our dical workers, we will ensure they are severely punished."
