Du Heng initially had so ideas, but once he actually entered the car dealership, he realized how unrealistic they were. His initial budget was just over 200,000 yuan, but the prices quickly escalated to a point he could barely stomach. There were too many good cars; he was completely spoiled for choice, his eyes glazing over.
Realizing he was about to exceed his budget, Du Heng’s rational side took over. He resisted the urge to look further and settled on a last year’s model Benz.
There was no particular reason; Du Heng just liked its height and size. As for whether it was too ostentatious, that wasn’t even a concern for him. He was spending his own money—money that wasn’t stolen, robbed, or embezzled. Why shouldn’t he spend it as he pleased? Besides, his future prospects no longer lay in official advancent, so what was wrong with being a bit ostentatious? Who could possibly fault him for it?
After a lengthy discussion with the salesgirl, finalizing all the details and the price, Du Heng directly took out his card. "Beauty, swipe the card."
The salesgirl was ecstatic. It was her first day at work, and the sll of alcohol still lingered on her, yet she had already landed a five hundred thousand yuan deal. Looking at Du Heng now, she didn’t see a custor; she saw a god of wealth.
Beaming her warst and most sincere smile, the salesgirl took Du Heng’s card with a slight bow. She whispered, "Sir, how many years of installnt do you think would be best? I personally recomnd a five-year installnt plan. It has a low down paynt, and the interest rate isn’t too high..."
Du Heng, thinking she might have misunderstood, raised his hand to interrupt her. Pointing at his card, he said, "I’m paying in full. No installnts."
"Full paynt?" The salesgirl’s smile froze. Various emotions flashed through her eyes, but annoyance was predominant. "Sir, are you sure you want to pay in full?"
"Yes, full paynt. And I want to drive the car away today."
The salesgirl struggled to keep her smile from looking too stiff. "Sir, I still recomnd an installnt plan. The interest isn’t high, and it won’t tie up too much of your funds..."
Du Heng shook his head. "Thanks, but I really don’t need installnts. I don’t have any financial pressure. Just swipe the card."
The salesgirl stared at Du Heng for a long mont, her smile finally collapsing. "Sir, if you pay in full, you’ll need to add another 50,000 yuan. Plus, you won’t be able to take the car today. You’ll have to wait a month."
Du Heng’s smile vanished. He’d co to spend money and enjoy himself, so why was he getting angry now? "That’s not what you said earlier," he stated.
"Sir, you didn’t say you were paying in full earlier either," she retorted.
Du Heng sneered, "So, paying in full ans I get treated like a second-class citizen?"
"Sir, if you’re not happy with this price, you can look at other dealerships."
Du Heng was so angry he laughed. He wasn’t the type to argue, so he took out his Mobile phone and made a call instead. "Happy New Year, Lawyer Zhou."
"President Du, Happy New Year to you as well!" Lawyer Zhou said cheerily over the Mobile phone. "What makes you call today? Is it about the partnership you and your friend are working on? I’ve already arranged everything this morning; I’ll get back to you in a week."
"That’s not urgent; take your ti. I was just calling to ask how your uncle is doing. Is he feeling any better?"
"Much better! His dizziness and trembling have almost completely disappeared. Now he can walk around with a cane by himself, no support needed."
"That’s good. I’ll find so ti in the next few days to co check on him and prescribe so new dicine to consolidate his recovery."
"Thank you for your concern, President Du. Just call when you’re free, and I’ll co pick you up."
"Alright, I’ll call you when I find the ti." After a brief pause, Du Heng explained the purpose of his current call.
The mont Du Heng finished speaking, Lawyer Zhou burst out laughing on the other end. "That’s their usual routine; it’s disgusting! Don’t worry about it. Just sit tight for a bit; soone will co find you."
Trusting Lawyer Zhou, Du Heng stopped talking to the salesgirl and started playing on his Mobile phone. The salesgirl, seeing Du Heng’s deanor, just snorted coldly and walked off.
Du Heng calmly played a ga on his Mobile phone for two minutes. Just as he was getting into it, he sensed soone standing beside him.
Looking up, he saw a middle-aged man. Next to the man stood the salesgirl from before, her face now contorted with anger and indignation.
When the middle-aged man saw Du Heng look up, he smiled. "Hello, Mr. Du. I’m the manager of this dealership. I apologize for our staff mber’s behavior just now." He then turned to the salesgirl beside him. "Quickly, apologize to Mr. Du."
Seeing the salesgirl’s reluctance, Du Heng waved his hand, indicating it wasn’t necessary. "Right now, I just want to know: can I pay the agreed-upon price in full today and drive the car away?"
"Of course. I’ll handle the paperwork for you right now, Mr. Du."
"Good. Thank you, Manager." Saying this, Du Heng handed the card, which the salesgirl had placed on the table, back to the manager.
The manager took the bank card and then passed it to the salesgirl. "Hurry up and process the paperwork for Mr. Du."
After the salesgirl left, her face grim, the manager chuckled and invited Du Heng to his office. Du Heng declined directly. "No need. It’s spacious here, and I can look at the cars. It’s quite nice."
The manager didn’t insist, still smiling. "Mr. Du, do you know Deputy Director Tian?"
Du Heng glanced at the manager. "I don’t know him," he said indifferently. However, Du Heng knew that Lawyer Zhou’s husband’s surna was Tian.
The manager seed accustod to such brush-offs, his smile unwavering. "What kind of work does Mr. Du do?"
"Doctor."
"Oh, a Doctor! That’s a good profession. Opening your own clinic these days ans good money, less work, and more freedom."
Du Heng looked at the manager with amusent. He had to admire soone who could probe for information so subtly. Just that one comnt was enough; if Du Heng took the bait and elaborated, regardless of his answer, his profession would be instantly revealed.
"Is there anything else, Manager?" Du Heng didn’t take the bait; he had no intention of getting entangled with these people.
This ti, the manager looked a little embarrassed. He could only murmur an apology and leave.
Du Heng watched the departing figure with mixed feelings.
He could roughly guess the salesgirl’s motive today: to make more money, of course. As for how much more, and what her commission would be, Du Heng had no idea. But this kind of behavior was incredibly annoying and infuriating. Fortunately, he knew a couple of people and could pull so strings. What about those who didn’t have connections? They’d either have to accept installnts, pay a higher price, or walk away. No matter which option, they’d leave fuming. What infuriated him most was the salesgirl’s claim that paying in full ant a waiting period. What kind of damned logic was that?
Once he was finally left alone and it beca quiet, Du Heng called Wu Buwei. "What are you up to? Busy?"
"I’m with Liu Ai for her Check-up. What’s up, brother?"
"Is the Check-up done? How’s her condition?"
"The check-up result is excellent. The tumor has completely disappeared, and Liu Ai’s bodily functions are nearly back to normal. As things stand, she can be discharged in another two days after so more rest."
"Good. We’ll talk about the rest when I get back. I’ll send you an address now. Co over. And don’t drive; just co by yourself."
While waiting, Du Heng signed many docunts. Although the salesgirl handling the paperwork wore a sullen expression the entire ti, Du Heng didn’t care.
It doesn’t matter if you look unpleasant, or even if you sar shit on your face, as long as you get this paperwork done for .
