"I’m not watching."
While Li Qin was saying she wouldn’t watch, Feng Su had already handed her phone to Du Heng and said with a smile, "An important friend; say hello."
Du Heng looked at the phone in front of him and then at the impatient Li Qin on the screen, smiling as he said, "Miss Li, hello."
"Hmm? Du Heng?" Li Qin looked instantly surprised. "How are you with Susu? Is she back in Jinzhou?"
"No, I’m just visiting the Capital for fun and having dinner with Ms. Feng."
"For fun? Then co find ; I’m over in East Hill." Seeing Du Heng on the screen, Li Qin’s expression changed from surprise to happiness again. "We’re going to film at the scenic area the day after tomorrow. I’ll take you with . You haven’t seen act before, so I’ll let you see it this ti."
Du Heng laughed. "I’d better not bother Miss Li. I ca here with my girlfriend this ti, so it’s not very convenient."
Li Qin, on the other end, sounded unhappy. "Why ’Miss Li’? It sounds so distant. Just call Qinqin. And what’s so inconvenient? It’s not like there’s anything between you and . Bring her along! Let your girlfriend play a role too. No girl can resist acting."
That makes sense, Du Heng thought. At the very least, going to East Hill is better than going to the southernmost region. The thought of the temperatures in the south these past few days made Du Heng shiver.
"Alright, I’ll go back and discuss it with her, and I’ll get back to you tonight."
"Great. When you and Susu co, I’ll pick you both up together." As Li Qin was speaking, a voice suddenly ca from behind her. She quickly said, "I can’t chat anymore; I have sothing to do. Give the phone to Susu; I need to tell her sothing."
Du Heng returned the phone to Feng Su. Just as Feng Su took it, Li Qin quickly said, "Don’t rush over today. Just co with Du Heng. Let know when you’re leaving."
Feng Su looked at Li Qin on the screen, dissatisfied. "What do you an? A mont ago you were urging to leave imdiately. How co you changed your tune and said it’s not urgent as soon as you heard Doctor Du was coming?"
"What nonsense are you talking? If I didn’t tell you to co quickly, should I have let you stay and ss around with that gang of yours? Co with Doctor Du. No need to hurry. I’ve already spoken to the director; the role is yours."
At that mont, another voice ca from behind her. Li Qin hurriedly said, "Okay, that’s all. I have to hang up now."
After hanging up, Feng Su looked a little embarrassed. Being berated so bluntly by her best friend in front of an outsider, she felt she’d lost so face. Fortunately, to her, Du Heng was soone who knew her well, so the embarrassnt was fleeting.
"Doctor Du, when are you planning to leave?"
Du Heng thought for a mont. "I should go back and discuss it with my girlfriend first."
Feng Su nodded. "That’s fine. Once you’ve decided, send a ssage, and I’ll book the plane tickets for everyone."
Hearing this offer, Du Heng quickly declined, "No need to trouble Ms. Feng; there are three of us."
Feng Su waved her hand dismissively and said generously, "It’s no problem at all. Just let know when you’ve set the ti."
Back at the hotel, Wu Shengnan, who had been recuperating, was fully revived and busily packing their luggage.
Du Heng went over to help.
"Are you done with everything?" Wu Shengnan asked in a low voice, without stopping her packing.
Du Heng nodded lightly. "I’ve t all my friends and finished everything I needed to do. The rest of the ti is purely for fun."
Wu Shengnan glanced at Du Heng. "I hope so." The four-day trip to the Capital had left a deep impression on her.
Du Heng proactively started putting folded clothes into the suitcase, but as soon as he did, Wu Shengnan said disapprovingly, "You should just rest. If you pack them like that, they’ll all get ssed up the mont the suitcase is lifted." As she spoke, she also reached out and pulled Du Heng away.
Du Heng, happy for the break, simply sat down on the bed. "I need to discuss sothing with you."
The busy Wu Shengnan had an ’I knew it’ expression and said helplessly, "Go on then."
Du Heng chuckled. "Don’t worry, it has nothing to do with work. Do you know Li Qin?"
"I know her. She’s a TV actress. You two know each other, right?"
"That’s right. When I was out for dinner earlier, she called. She invited you to visit the film crew for her TV drama and said you might get a chance to act in it. Would you like to go?"
Wu Shengnan stopped what she was doing. "She invited *you*, right?"
"What are you saying? Inviting is inviting you. If you don’t go, would I go alone?" Du Heng said cheerfully. "Besides, she specifically said she could find a role for *you* to try out in the TV drama, not for to get a kick out of it."
"Are you serious?"
"Of course. When have I ever lied to you?"
"You’ve got so nerve." Wu Shengnan rolled her eyes. "If I can be in a TV drama, I’d definitely like to go. But let ask you, does it cost money?"
"I don’t know. Probably not," Du Heng said, looking a bit dazed. "By the way, they’re filming in East Hill."
"Then I’m going," Wu Shengnan answered firmly. "I might have chances to do other things in this lifeti, but acting in a TV drama? If I miss this, I might truly never get another chance."
"So, I’ll give her our answer?"
"Yes, reply quickly and ask for the address."
Once Du Heng was done with that, he imdiately went next door to Director Zheng and Xiao Kang’s room. The two of them were also packing their luggage and chatting.
"Director Zheng, Xiao Kang, are you done packing?"
"We’re almost done, Dean." Director Zheng bead as he placed the last few items into his suitcase and then stood up.
Du Heng glanced at their suitcases and said slowly, "Director Zheng, when you get back, tell Deputy Dean Lu to expedite the personnel adjustnts. Everything must be finalized within this week. Second, have Director Qiu quickly draft the list for advanced studies. Ensure it’s accurate, not filled with irrelevant details, and selections must be based on our hospital’s actual needs."
Director Zheng’s large, round face twitched slightly. "Don’t worry, Dean. I’ll personally oversee this when I get back."
"Good." Du Heng was very serious about this matter of advanced studies. "This matter requires serious attention. Don’t let the advanced study opportunities we worked so hard to obtain go to waste."
After a brief pause, he continued, "There’s one more thing. Urge Secretary Huang to press my Teacher about speeding up the integration team’s work. It’s been a week, and there’s been no progress at all."
Seeing Du Heng’s furrowed brow, Director Zheng didn’t imdiately agree as before. "That will likely be difficult, Dean. I’m afraid it really can’t be rushed. Director Tang ntioned at lunch that the feedback over the past two days has been very positive. The stroke project has a high chance of being approved by the Departnt."
Director Zheng put down the suitcase he was holding, turned, and sat on a stool. "When it was just a provincial-level subject, everyone was already competing so fiercely. Now that they all know there’s a chance of getting this year’s departntal approval, I expect the competition will be even more intense. I don’t think it will be easy to resolve this quickly."
Du Heng, frustrated, clutched his head. "I originally wanted everyone to participate so I could repay so favors and let everyone share in the benefits. How has it beco such a contentious ss now?"
Director Zheng glanced at Du Heng. You ant well, Dean, overlooking the benefits of this project yourself and wanting to share them. But in others’ eyes, the interests tied to this project are enough to drastically change their inco and status. Especially now that it’s set to beco a provincial level project, who would pass up the chance to get a piece of it?
An idea suddenly struck Du Heng. He looked at Director Zheng and said, "Do you think it’s possible for to retract the project now?"
Director Zheng was visibly stunned. But before he could voice an opinion, Du Heng added, "Forget it. Just pretend I didn’t say anything."
Director Zheng slowly exhaled. Thank goodness, he’s not having an episode. What a relief.
