With that, Jin Zan patted Du Heng's shoulder and was about to leave, but Du Heng quickly stopped him. "Hold on, don't leave just yet."
"Is there anything else?"
"Since there's no problem on your end, find another doctor skilled in acupuncture—soone who's quick and precise with the needles."
Jin Zan paused. "You can do it yourself, and you're quite good at it. Why find soone else? Our Departnt doesn't have anyone like that; we'd have to get soone from the Acupuncture Departnt."
Du Heng clicked his tongue. "Just do as I say and find soone. Enough with the chatter. If I'm in the middle of setting the Patient's bone and she has a reaction, am I supposed to let go of her Arm, perform acupuncture on the Patient, wait for her to recover, and then make her endure the Pain of resetting the fractured bone all over again? That's ridiculous."
Jin Zan slapped his shiny forehead. "My bad, bro, my bad." With a laugh, he added, "Alright, leave it to . I'll definitely find the best acupuncturist in our Hospital for you."
"Hurry up, then. The longer we delay, the worse the swelling around the Patient's fracture will beco, making it more difficult to treat later."
Jin Zan made an OK gesture and headed off.
Watching Jin Zan leave, Du Heng picked up his pen, also preparing to write a prescription.
But just as he put pen to paper, he suddenly stopped.
According to his initial plan, he would prescribe two decoction dicines for the Patient: one for relieving uneasiness of mind to dull her Brain's Pain response, and another for protecting the fetus. After all, the dicine for relieving uneasiness of mind only serves to dull the Patient's response, not eliminate it like an Anesthetic by directly not processing Pain Signals; it's more of an added precaution.
However, just as he was about to write the prescription, he suddenly felt that these two prescriptions could seemingly be replaced by a single one.
Tapping the pen to his forehead, Du Heng quickly worked out the combination. In no ti at all, he had formulated the prescription.
"Hmm, not bad. Let's call it Tranquilizing and Fetus-Protecting Decoction. It relieves uneasiness of mind, regulates bad temper, moisturizes the intestines, and nourishes the uterus. It's very practical for pregnant won who have a bad temper, suffer from constipation, or experience irregular fetal movents."
Du Heng looked at his prescription, quite satisfied, but then shook his head. "No, this prescription would be too strong for an ordinary pregnant woman. The dosage of the dicine for relieving uneasiness of mind has to be reduced."
As he was considering this, Jin Zan's Voice suddenly rang out, "Du, it's all arranged. Our Director couldn't make it due to so prior engagent and asked to send his regards. He said he'd like to get together when he has ti."
Du Heng handed the prescription to Jin Zan. "He sounds quite polite. Are you sure those were his words, not yours?"
"No, really, that's what our Director said."
"Alright, enough joking. The prescription is here; you figure out who's going to sign it."
Jin Zan took it. "Sign it? Why? Don't forget, I'm in Traditional Chinese dicine Orthopedics; I can prescribe dicine too."
Taking the prescription, Jin Zan sat down at the computer, murmuring to himself as he entered the details into the system.
"All set. The dicine will be sent up in half an hour. That's perfect, as Doctor Yan, whom I contacted, won't be here for another twenty minutes anyway."
Du Heng stood up. "Let's go to the Hospital room then, and I'll check the Patient's Arm again."
"Let's go. I'll chat with the Patient too, so she doesn't feel so tense."
After the two left, the chatter in the office suddenly increased sharply.
"My gosh, was that really Doctor Du just now?"
"I thought it looked like him too, but I didn't dare go closer."
"I didn't dare go closer either. He's an internet celebrity with 10 million followers! If those followers were money, he could probably afford a villa by now."
"Hehe, Doctor Du is my idol. If I get the chance, I'd like to ask him how he managed to get 10 million followers."
"Are you only focusing on his 10 million followers? Look at how long it took him to achieve that—just two months. It's incredible."
Listening to the Interns' discussions, a resident doctor next to them couldn't help but interrupt. "Aren't your priorities a bit skewed? We're doctors. Shouldn't our main focus be on Doctor Du's skills and why he's so incredible? If we get the chance, we should ask him for advice, learn so of his secrets. Another resident doctor chid in, "Exactly. You kids still haven't figured out your priorities. From what's on the internet, Doctor Du is proficient in adult internal dicine and Ophthalmology. He's also the Dean of the Maternal and Child Health Care Hospital, so he must be skilled in Gynecology and Pediatrics too. Plus, the Ointnt he authorized is incredibly effective here at our Hospital, which ans orthopedics is clearly within his expertise as well. That's what a true general practice doctor should be like. Shouldn't your focus be on these professional skills?"
The Interns huddled together and remained silent. Although the speakers were resident doctors—people the Interns would have to address as 'Teacher'—they were being lectured and could only listen quietly.
At this mont, the doctor who had just spoken looked at the door and asked loudly, "Mr. Wang, where are you going? Do you need help?"
The one questioned was another attending doctor in the office. Hearing the query, he turned and smiled. "I'm going to watch Doctor Du perform bone setting. I've only heard about this technique of setting bones with bare hands; I've never actually seen it. I want to go broaden my horizons."
With that, Mr. Wang sauntered out of the room, hands in his pockets. Another doctor hurried after him, calling out, "Hey, Wang, wait for ! I haven't seen it either. Let's go watch together!"
