Whether it was the gods in the sky or the Starsea and Quiet Mountain players fighting farther and farther away, everyone couldn't help but feel a brief mont of sympathy for QM Rita.
Quiet Mountain Mojie said, "I'm never envying her demon talent again. Seriously."
QM Smoke Tune sounded a bit surprised. "But she hasn't stopped attacking. Maybe her ability really can kill Starsea Rita?"
Lightchaser glanced away from the sea of flowers and lightning and said lightly, "Then she still wins. Not liking QM Rita doesn't an she likes BS Rita. Whether BS Rita gets the Vine and lightning depends on her own ability."
On the other side of the battlefield, BSCicada wasn't chatting. Not just because her fight with QM Cicada was intense, but because she kept glancing at Starsea Deceitful Bloom in the sky.
Even Boiling Orange and Ashveil were quietly observing her expression. Foolishness's earlier joke had actually co true. Extra Chapter Rita really did attack herself.
And then they noticed Deceitful Bloom's expression was complicated and subtle.
Not just her. In their peripheral vision, Starsea Foolishness and QM Deceitful Bloom on the opposing side looked the sa. All three were watching QM Rita, who had her lips pressed tight, chasing Extra Chapter Rita and slashing again and again.
Sothing was clearly wrong with her.
She had completely abandoned defense, attacking without restraint, even using the soul fire she had saved after repeatedly casting Extra Chapter and Extra Chapter OOC.
Anyone could tell those soul fire reserves were ant to kill BS Rita. But since BS Rita's health cap had never dropped to a critical level, she hadn't used them.
Now she was using everything.
Sealing Extra Chapter Rita's soul fire.
Sealing her mana.
Sealing her five senses.
The sheer, unrestrained killing intent made even Quiet Mountain players glance over frequently. QM Rita had always had a bad temper, sure, but she had never lost control like this.
Ashveil quietly asked Starsea Deceitful Bloom, "What's going on?"
She didn't answer.
QM Deceitful Bloom answered first.
"Even another version of herself betrayed her."
That was the reason.
The reason QM Rita completely lost control.
Everyone she knew had betrayed her in this ga, willingly or not. She thought she had stopped caring. She thought she had gotten used to Quiet Mountain's rules. She thought her nightmares had changed.
And then she was betrayed by the one existence that should never have betrayed her.
A betrayal she had never even imagined.
Extra Chapter Rita kept saying they were the sa person. QM Rita had already spent soul fire to rewrite her alignnt and emotions.
But she still chose to help Starsea Rita.
At that mont, sothing changed on the battlefield.
Centered on QM Rita, every streetlamp within sight suddenly lit up with flas.
It wasn't even the hour yet, but the bell of Graveyard of Bones began to ring, long and echoing. The ground glowed faintly.
Every being present, including the gods in the sky, had their soul fire ignite at the sa ti, as if responding to a call.
10:19 PM.
Right now.
Extra Chapter Rita looked at QM Rita's forehead. The faint outline of her soul fire, which had nearly burned out, now reignited with sparks. Even the previously dark No Light portion lit up.
QM Rita had fully awakened her demon talent.
Her soul fire was completely ignited.
Extra Chapter Rita's smile widened.
Just like Lightchaser said, she didn't like QM Rita, and she didn't like BS Rita either.
But what she did now ensured two things. QM Rita would never summon her again. And she would leave a final "gift" for BS Rita.
The lightning sword in her hand could no longer hold its form. It collapsed like a galaxy pouring downward, rushing into the figure once again wrapped in flowers and lightning.
Her own health had already dropped into the danger zone.
But she was in a great mood.
She asked, "Your demon talent is Extra Chapter. What about your soul fire? I can't quite tell."
"Ruined City."
The answer was cold, completely devoid of warmth.
Then the final strike fell.
At that mont, the ruined mark on her forehead, which had only contained 10 percent soul fire from her recent breakthrough, was instantly filled to the brim.
What Extra Chapter Rita didn't know was this.
Even without her added rule, the Extra Chapter she wrote could never be recalled. It could only be destroyed.
And every ti it was destroyed, QM Rita would recover soul fire based on how impactful that Extra Chapter character had been.
An Extra Chapter betraying another Extra Chapter.
A character betraying its own creator.
That was enough to fully restore QM Rita's soul fire.
With the sound of tearing pages, Extra Chapter Rita turned into fragnts of paper and vanished.
QM Rita didn't pause for even a second. While issuing new rules, she charged toward the figure that had just absorbed the last trace of lightning.
"New rule. Starsea Rita exits Wildfire Reignite state."
Her soul fire drained rapidly. She had wanted to cancel that state earlier, but back then even her last 10 points weren't enough.
Now it worked.
But just forcing that exit cost her 20 soul fire instantly.
The blue glow on the petals began to fade.
Her blade cut through the air.
Petals were blasted aside. Lightning strands were severed.
The strike ca down directly at the figure with closed eyes.
Clang.
A white gold lightning sword blocked the attack.
BS Rita opened her eyes.
The gemstone glow was gone, replaced by black pupils, though faint traces of blue still lingered.
Chains dropped from above, wrapping tightly around her wrists.
Two identical gazes t across blade and sword.
"We really are similar," Rita said.
"We both play with tilines. Both want to define rules and rewrite settings. And both fail to control another version of ourselves."
The bell of Graveyard of Bones continued to echo.
The flas in every streetlamp were blown by the wind, their trails of smoke drifting as they converged toward QM Rita.
