Chapter 728: Chapter 164: Snow Calamity Curse, Chronicle Revived (7000 )

February 13.

It’s been over a month since the first grand court eting of the year.

Lanling City and its surrounding areas have been experiencing heavy snowfall for over a month now, which is uncommon compared to previous years.

Because it’s located in the Capital Region, the court’s various benefits and support are substantial, so no issues have arisen.

However, the continued low temperatures coupled with heavy snow have led to snow disasters in several provinces!

Roads are blocked, livestock frozen to death, houses collapsed under the weight of snow…

Although the Central Governnt issued a quick order for manpower and resources to conduct rapid disaster relief, many remote areas lack railway connections, and normal roads are obstructed by snow, delaying rescue efforts.

In the Luo Province, Fuhua Prefecture.

Kang Family Town, over three hundred miles from Jiaoshi City.

Surrounded by mountains, the few available passages froze and beca impassable after the snow blocked the mountains.

The phone lines also suffered damage, and the entire town has been cut off from the outside world for nearly a week.

The charcoal stones for heating in the town’s hos, as well as firewood, are almost depleted, and so people have already frozen to death!

In the most luxurious three-story pavilion in Kang Family Town, Town Mayor Yu Ming sat in his study with a grave expression.

There was a fireplace in the study, warming the entire room.

Yu Ming joined the military in his younger days, becoming a Martial Artist at the Body Breaking Stage and achieving rits on the battlefield. Upon retiring, he used money and connections to secure his position as the Town Mayor.

His household had sufficient winter supplies, and coupled with his martial artist physique, he wouldn’t die even if the entire town froze to death.

Yet at this mont, sitting in the cozy study, Yu Ming’s heart was incredibly cold.

“When did this thing start appearing?”

He held a pamphlet in his hand, asking the person sitting across from him.

“Old Zhang from the Inspection Office ca to my ho yesterday, saying that a few days ago, soone knocked on his nephew’s door and handed this thing to his nephew.”

Kang Changyu’s face was scrunched up, his ssy hair disheveled, as he spoke.

He was a local from Kang Family Town and served as the director of the Inspection Office.

Sitting in the study now, these two were the highest-ranking and most powerful individuals in the town.

Yet, both cursed their low official status and limited capabilities, clueless about handling the current situation.

The content on the pamphlet in Yu Ming’s hand was nothing short of rebellious!

It’s said that great disasters always bring forth evils, implying that during tis of calamity, many cults exploit the situation to win people’s hearts.

Yu Ming and Kang Changyu had encountered similar incidents in the past and even eradicated so cult mbers.

But the current pamphlet couldn’t be simply categorized as a cult problem.

The content on the pamphlet was straightforward and colloquial, focusing on three main points:

First, the Da Lan Dynasty is filled with corrupt officials, and the winter supplies ant for the people have almost entirely been embezzled.

Second, the court is covering up the truth, with hundreds of thousands dying in the Ming Province last year! The Northern Territory is also at war, and the battles aren’t going in our favor.

Third, the dim-witted king is without virtue, causing Heavenly Punishnt. This snow disaster is indeed Heavenly Punishnt, proving that the Da Lan Dynasty’s Qi is running out!

Otherwise, why have so many years of snowfall passed without incident, yet this year there’s such a severe snow disaster?

These three points build up progressively, essentially stating that problems perate the entire Da Lan Dynasty!

At the end of the pamphlet, there’s a spell, cursing corrupt officials, incompetent ministers, the dim-witted king, and ultimately this decaying nation!

The revelations on the pamphlet and its final curses make Yu Ming and Kang Changyu’s hearts tremble with fear.

Previously, cults mainly encouraged people to believe in so Evil God, to find solace for the spirit and such.

However, this ti, the mysterious organization urged people to directly curse officials, the court, the king, and the entire Da Lan Dynasty!

“Old Zhang’s nephew said the person distributing the pamphlets told them that by sincerely reciting the final spell, they wouldn’t fear the cold.”

Kang Changyu said.

Yu Ming was startled: “Did you try it?”

Kang Changyu hastily shook his head: “I wouldn’t dare!”

Yu Ming stared at him: “What about Old Zhang’s nephew?”

Kang Changyu hesitated and then said: “Old Zhang’s nephew didn’t dare try at first, but his wife was shivering terribly, so she tried reciting the spell, and… it genuinely felt less cold.”

“Damn!”

Yu Ming couldn’t help but curse.

“Mayor, you’ve traveled far and wide and seen more than most. Can just reciting a few spells really work? Old Zhang’s nephew’s wife is just an ordinary person.”

Kang Changyu asked in bewildernt.

Yu Ming took out a cigarette, and Kang Changyu quickly lit it for him.

Yu Ming’s eyes were profound as he slowly spoke:

“Back when we fought in the southern desert, the temperature differences between day and night were huge. The dayti was scorching like a steam bath, and the night was freezing like an ice cellar.

Once, our squad encountered a group of our own dead during the night; all were dried corpses, like they’d been roasted by fire for days. But the problem was, it was freezing at the ti, and there was no trace of fire around, not even a spark. Even the clothes on these corpses were intact, though, damn it, they were frosted.”

“What?”

Kang Changyu listened, mouth agape, “How was that done?”

Yu Ming: “Our squad leader said it was witchcraft from Mo Kingdom’s southern region, their witches were our magicians, using a form of magic.”

Kang Changyu frowned: “Is magic really that powerful? Aren’t they just so deceitful tricks? Those cult magicians we’ve caught before didn’t seem that formidable.”
