Chapter 729: Chapter 37: Thunder in the Heart, Calmness on the Face_2

“If it weren’t for fear of encountering so other accident, I wouldn’t have planned to bring you along; it’s quite an overreaction!” Qing Ge said with a look of disdain.

Then, he continued with dissatisfaction, “Besides, with so many people around, I can’t guarantee that there’s no spy planted by Chi Pu within my army.

If I were to bring them along, it might expose our whereabouts to my elder brother.

What will we do once my brother hears about this and cos to vie with for Lu Qingshan?”

“If it weren’t for this concern, why would I be in such a hurry? I just expended my own origin to regenerate a severed limb, barely having ti to recover, and yet here we are, setting out,” Qing Ge said grimly.

It is evident that the arm Marquis of An Hai had severed was already growing back out of thin air—this was done after leaving Black Demon City using the power of his own origin.

This was also out of necessity—his plan was to strike proactively and catch Chi Pu off guard.

Therefore, he couldn’t afford to delay any longer, nor could he afford to make too much commotion.

If Chi Pu were to follow them, then how would he have a share of the Pseudo Dao Artifact?

Quietly, without the need for a large army.”

“So it is,” muttered Pu Qu Demon Marshal upon hearing this, nodding in agreent, “Your Lordship speaks the truth.”

As the saying goes, when one person attains the Tao, even his pets ascend to heaven.

Since he had pledged allegiance to Qing Ge, naturally, he hoped for Qing Ge’s status to improve.

Within the Demon Race, strength determines status.

He was well aware of the enhancent that a Pseudo Dao Artifact could provide for Qing Ge.

As for Lu Qingshan, rely a Sword Cultivator of the Fifth Realm—although the Spirit Tempting Demon Lord had repeatedly warned them not to underestimate him, what did that matter to them? One was a Sixth Grade Demon General and the other a Seventh Grade Demon Marshal—wasn’t this far beyond re underestimation?

Without further thought, Pu Qu Demon Marshal followed Qing Ge and the Hundred Illusion Butterfly swiftly into the distance.

….

“Hmm?”

Just when the two demons and one butterfly had flown by, the wilderness they crossed shimred montarily.

Marquis of An Hai suddenly appeared.

“It’s these two demon heads… why have they appeared here? They seem to be in search of sothing…” he mused, watching the direction in which the two demons had disappeared, frowning slightly, “Could they be looking for ?”

“That’s not right. If they were looking for , why would there be only the two of them, and not the entire Demon Race army?

And given the arrogant nature of that Demon General, would he deign to co out in person to find ?”

What’s going on?

Marquis of An Hai was puzzled.

In this remote wilderness far from the cities of the Demon Race, the Demon General Qing Ge, who had just failed to take Falling Goose Pass, hurried past with his subordinates, as if searching for sothing.

And it didn’t seem as though they were searching for him, who had just escaped.

What could they possibly be searching for?

Given the status of Demon General Qing Ge, whatever he was searching for must be significant, exceedingly important for their Demon Race—after all, just the day before, Demon General Qing Ge had been leading an army to assault Falling Goose Pass. How much lower could his status fall?

The intuition of a veteran who had been through nurous battles told him that there must be so major secret hidden in this.

This made Marquis of An Hai’s heart tighten, a flash of sharpness appearing in his eyes.

Drip, drip.

At that mont, a few faint dripping sounds arose. Marquis of An Hai, deep in thought, looked up at the sky.

“It’s starting to rain…”

After a few monts of contemplation, Marquis of An Hai promptly got up, no longer concerned about healing his wounds, and followed the direction the two demons had gone, treading carefully but quickly.

He had made his decision.

Marquis of An Hai’s injuries were far from healed, but encountering such a significant event, he could not ignore it.

He knew that in his current condition, following them could potentially place him in danger, and he might not be able to change anything.

But…

What if?

He could allow himself to be powerless after trying, but he wouldn’t allow himself not to try just because he felt powerless.

So, he set out.

Soon, Marquis of An Hai’s figure disappeared from the spot.

As for the rain, it was growing heavier.

The sky poured with torrential rain, much like the endless rain at Falling Goose Pass a few days prior which turned the world a dingy grey, the cold biting to the core.

For a Cultivator, ordinary weather changes have long ceased to be aningful.

Lu Qingshan controlled his sword and skimd low, with Spiritual Power flickering around him, pushing all the rain away.

It had been a day since he left Falling Goose Pass, and in two more, he would be back at Yun Pass.

Suddenly, he subconsciously frowned.

Two massive splashes of water unexpectedly burst open not far ahead of him, forming a lotus of water, with droplets scattering everywhere.

The sound of wind and rain, quite boisterous.

Amidst this clamor of wind and rain, a sinister voice drifted over, like a line drawn, carrying a rain arrow, piercing through the thick rain curtains, aiming straight for Lu Qingshan.

“We et again, Li Feiyu.”

The transparent rain arrow, ford of condensed water, parted the cold wind and heavy rain and headed directly for Lu Qingshan’s face.

Hiss!

Eventually, the rain arrow exploded into droplets, just a yard from Lu Qingshan’s face, as if it had hit an invisible wall, unable to advance further.

The raindrops splashed in front of Lu Qingshan, but he appeared unfazed.

For, two figures had already appeared in his line of sight.

Demon General Qing Ge and Demon Marshal Pu Qu.

The inner rage in Lord Qing Ge’s heart had been brewing for a long ti, nearly bursting out, but upon seeing Lu Qingshan again, it seed as if he cald down, assuming that Lu Qingshan was as good as dead.

With an expression that showed no hurry, he casually curved his lips into a smirk, and said playfully, “Or perhaps I should call you Lu Qingshan?”
