Caden’s POV

I did not wait to hear anything else.

The mont Riley said those last words, sothing in snapped completely and I turned and walked out of the room without saying a single word to anyone. I could still hear Leslie crying softly behind , and I knew Riley was still lying there weak and injured, but right now there was only one thing on my mind.

Daphne.

Everything I had just heard kept replaying in my head as I moved quickly through the halls, my steps fast and heavy. None of it made sense, and at the sa ti, all of it did in the worst possible way.

My own sister?

No.

That did not sound right.

That could not be right.

But then again... Riley had no reason to lie, and Leslie’s reaction was not sothing anyone could fake.

And Daphne—

She had been acting strange for a long ti.

Too many things I ignored.

Too many monts I brushed aside because she was family.

I clenched my jaw tightly as anger started building up inside .

"How?" I muttered under my breath as I moved faster.

"How did it even get to this point?"

When did she beco like this?

When did she start working against us?

When did she beco close to Sapphire?

And why?

Why would she hate us this much?

"Fuck," I cursed under my breath, my hands clenching into fists.

None of it made sense, but I was going to get answers.

I did not slow down until I reached her quarters.

I did not knock.

I did not hesitate. I kicked the door open hard.

The door slamd against the wall with a loud bang as I stepped inside.

Daphne was there.

She stood up imdiately the mont she saw , her eyes widening slightly before she swallowed hard.

For a few seconds, neither of us spoke.

I just stood there, staring at her. Really looking at her.

Trying to see it.

Trying to understand how the person standing in front of could be everything Riley just described.

But she looked the sa. The sa face. The sa person I had known all my life.

And that was what made it worse.

"Why?" I asked finally, my voice low but filled with tension.

She blinked slightly, like she did not understand the question.

"What do you an?" she asked carefully.

I took a step forward.

"Why are you doing all of this?" I asked again, my tone sharper now.

She frowned slightly, shaking her head.

"I don’t know what you’re talking about," she replied.

For a second, I just stared at her.

Then I let out a short, humorless laugh and ran a hand over my face.

"You really want to do this?" I asked.

She did not answer. So I stepped closer.

"Why did you stab Riley?" I asked directly.

Her expression flickered for a split second.

That was all I needed.

"Why did you kill Leslie’s mother?" I continued, my voice rising slightly.

Her lips pressed together, but she still said nothing.

"Why were you working with Sapphire?" I added.

Still silence.

"And why the hell are you a spy for Laden?" I finished, dropping everything at once.

The room went completely quiet.

I watched her closely, waiting.

Hoping.

Hoping she would deny it. Hoping she would say Riley was wrong.

Hoping this was all so misunderstanding.

But instead—

She clicked her tongue.

"Oh," she said casually. "So you all finally found out?"

My heart dropped.

That was it.

No denial.

No excuse.

Nothing.

Just acceptance.

"You want to know why I did it?" she continued, her tone calm, almost like she had been waiting for this mont.

My fists clenched tighter.

"Talk," I said.

She tilted her head slightly.

"It all started when your precious Luna mother decided to play judge," she began.

My eyes narrowed imdiately."Watch your mouth," I warned.

She ignored .

"When your mother stood in front of the entire pack and condemned my own mother to death," she continued, her voice sharp now.

I cut in imdiately.

"Your mother was a traitor," I said firmly. "She fed information about the pack to outsiders. She put everyone at risk."

Daphne laughed. A cold, bitter laugh.

"Oh, that’s what you were told, right?" she said. "That’s the story you all believe."

"It’s the truth," I snapped.

"My mother did her job as Luna, and father stood by that decision."

Her eyes darkened.

"And that makes it okay?" she shot back. "That makes it right?"

"She betrayed the entire pack," I repeated.

"She was protecting soone!" Daphne snapped suddenly, her voice rising.

I paused.

That was not sothing I expected.

"Protecting who?" I asked.

She laughed again, shaking her head.

"It doesn’t matter anymore," she said. "Because she’s dead. And all of you just moved on like nothing happened."

My jaw tightened.

"That’s not how it happened," I said.

"That is exactly how it happened!" she yelled. "You all stood there and watched her die!"

Her chest rose and fell heavily.

"And now you expect to just forget that?" she added, her voice trembling slightly with anger.

I stared at her.

"So this is revenge?" I asked.

"Yes," she said without hesitation.

The word hit hard.

"I wanted all of you to feel what I felt," she continued. "To lose soone you care about. To feel helpless. To feel that pain and loneliness every single day."

My expression hardened.

"So you killed innocent people because of that?" I asked.

"They weren’t innocent," she snapped. "They were in my way including Leslie’s mother, she’s the one that exposed my mother to your Mom, so I killed the old hag her for running her mouth"

My fists clenched again.

"And Sapphire?" I asked.

Her expression shifted slightly.

"She understood ," Daphne said quietly. "She knew what it felt like to lose everything."

"So you beca lovers?" I asked bluntly.

She didn’t deny it."Yes," she said.

I shook my head slightly.

"This is insane," I muttered.

"And then Gunnar killed her," she continued, her voice shaking now with anger. "Just like that. Like her life ant nothing."

"She was a threat," I said.

"She was everything to !" Daphne snapped.

Silence filled the room again.

"And now," she continued, her voice dropping lower, "I’m going to take everything from all of you."

My eyes darkened."What do you an?" I asked.

She smiled slightly.

"I an I’m not done," she said. "I will hurt everything that belongs to you. Every single thing you all care about."

A cold feeling settled in my chest."You took my mother," she added. "Then you took Sapphire."

Her eyes locked onto mine. "So now, it’s y’lls turn."

My fists clenched tightly.

"Especially Gunnar," she continued, her tone turning colder. "He deserves it the most."

Sothing inside snapped again.

"Only if that damn child had died," she muttered under her breath.

That was it.

Before she could say anything else, I moved.

My hand shot forward and grabbed her by the throat, slamming her back against the wall as I tightened my grip.

Her eyes widened slightly as she struggled to breathe.

"Watch what you say," I growled, my voice low and dangerous.

She clawed at my hand, but I didn’t loosen my grip.

"My brothers don’t know anything about this yet," I continued, my eyes locked onto hers.

Her movents slowed slightly.

"And I don’t plan on telling them," I added.

Confusion flickered in her eyes.

"Especially Gunnar," I said.

My grip tightened slightly.

"Because if Cane or Gunnar finds out what you did," I continued, my voice dropping even lower, "you won’t survive to see the next day."

Her breathing beca uneven.

I held her there for a mont longer. Then I released her.

She dropped to the ground, coughing as she struggled to catch her breath.

I stepped back slightly, watching her.

"You’re leaving," I said firmly.

She looked up at , still breathing heavily.

"What?" she asked.

"You heard ," I replied. "You’re going to leave this pack."

Her eyes narrowed slightly."And if I don’t?" she asked.

I didn’t hesitate."I’ll make sure you don’t have a choice," I said.

Silence filled the room again.

"I’ll tell everyone I sent you on a task," I continued. "But by first light tomorrow, I don’t want to see you here."

She stared at .

"I don’t want to see your face again," I continued.

My voice hardened."Because if I do..." I paused slightly."I might end up being known as the Alpha who killed his own half-sister."
