Cane’s POV

The mont I entered the underground hallway, I already knew sothing had happened.

The guards standing outside Daphne’s cell looked tense. Two of them had blood on their faces. One of them was holding his side like he had gotten hit hard.

Then I saw Sebastian.

He was on the floor.

One knee down. One hand pressed against the ground, breathing heavily.

For a second, nobody spoke.

The guards imdiately straightened when they saw .

"Alpha Cane," one of them said quickly.

I walked closer, my eyes moving from the guards to Sebastian. "What happened here?"

The guard answered imdiately.

"Sebastian tried to force his way into the cell. We stopped him."

My gaze moved to the broken wall beside them. Cracks ran through the stone from the force of the attack.

So he had lost control completely.

Sebastian slowly stood up to his full height. He wiped the blood from his mouth with the back of his hand before fixing his eyes on .

Then he laughed softly.

It wasn’t a normal laugh. It sounded angry.

"So this is what we are doing now?" he asked. "My own guards refusing my orders?"

Nobody answered him.

The hallway stayed silent.

The guards behind him didn’t even look at him anymore.

I walked toward him slowly until I stopped directly in front of him.

"You say your guards," I said calmly. "But they stopped being yours a long ti ago father."

His eyes narrowed instantly."I am still Alpha of Obsidian Veil."

"No," I said. "You’re not."

His face changed imdiately after I said that.

Not because I raised my voice but because I didn’t.

I said it like it was already decided. Like it was a fact which it was.

He stared at for a few seconds like he was trying to understand what I ant.

Behind him, the guards shifted uncomfortably.

I looked past Sebastian and faced everyone standing there.

"All of you know the laws of this pack," I said. "You all know how succession works."

Nobody spoke. But nobody denied it either.

Sebastian scoffed. "What nonsense are you talking about?"

I slowly reached into my pocket.

The second I pulled out the lunar fur, the entire hallway beca quiet.

Every single eye locked onto it.

The silver strands reflected against the dim lights hanging on the walls.

Sebastian’s expression changed imdiately. The anger on his face disappeared for one second.

Then it ca back even worse.

I lifted the fur slightly.

"A month ago," I began, "you sent our mate to Lunar Hollow Cave."

One of the younger guards looked down instantly.

Nobody liked speaking about that place.

Even wolves avoided it.

"You said Riley had to prove herself worthy before she could stand beside us as Luna." I kept my eyes on Sebastian the entire ti. "You called it tradition."

He folded his hands behind his back but said nothing.

"So you sent a human woman into the most dangerous place in Obsidian Veil."

My jaw tightened slightly as I rembered it.

"You sent her to perform the Rite of the Borrowed Moon."

Nobody moved.

The hallway was completely still.

"You told her to survive sixty days inside Lunar Hollow and return with the fur of a moon-bound wolf."

I raised the fur again.

"She ca back before the sixty days ended."

Sebastian’s face darkened.

I continued speaking before he could interrupt.

"And before she left, you made an agreent with us."

"That’s enough," he snapped.

"No," I said coldly. "You will listen to Sebastian."

The guards behind us imdiately beca more alert.

Sebastian’s eyes burned with fury, but I didn’t care.

"You promised that the mont Riley succeeded, you would step down as Alpha and prepare the succession ceremony."

I took one step closer.

"You said the next Alpha of Obsidian Veil would finally take his place."

His jaw tightened hard.

"You gave your word in front of I and my brothers."

His breathing beca heavier.

"And now you are pretending it never happened."

Sebastian suddenly laughed again, but there was no humor in it.

"You think carrying a piece of fur changes anything?"

I walked past him and stood in the middle of the hallway.

Then I threw the fur directly at him. It hit his chest before dropping into his hands.

The silver strands fell over his fingers.

I looked him straight in the eyes. "So what happens now, Father?"

The word sounded bitter coming out of my mouth.

"Will you step down willingly?"

I paused for a second. "Or do we remove you ourselves?"

The silence after that felt long. Nobody dared speak.

Sebastian stared at the fur in his hands before slowly lifting his head toward .

"You are threatening ?"

"No," I answered. "I’m reminding you."

His face twisted in anger. "I built this pack you bastard!"

"And destroyed it at the sa ti."

The words left my mouth before I could stop them.

One of the guards lowered his head imdiately.

Sebastian stepped toward aggressively. "Watch your mouth."

"Or what?" I asked him.

His Alpha aura burst out instantly.

The pressure filled the hallway so hard that so of the guards took a step back.

But I stayed exactly where I was. So did my guards.

Sebastian noticed imdiately. His eyes flickered for a second.

Now he understood.

His authority wasn’t working anymore.

Not on . Not on the people standing here.

I looked at him calmly.

"You know what your problem is?" I asked quietly. "You spent so many years controlling people that you forgot fear only works for a while."

His chest rose and fell heavily.

"You thought nobody would ever challenge you."

I stepped closer.

"You thought your sons would spend their entire lives bowing to you no matter what you did to us."

His eyes hardened instantly."You ungrateful little-"

"No," I cut him off sharply. "Don’t do that."
