Riley’s POV
Daphne opens her mouth to say sothing. She barely gets a breath out before the door bursts open.
The sound is loud enough to make flinch.
A man storms in so fast it feels like the air in the room shifts with him, and the mont I see his face, my chest tightens.
It’s the driver.
The sa one who brought here. The sa one who drove away from the pack.
The way he rushes in scares the hell out of .
He stops short when he sees sitting upright, alive and awake.
For a split second, sothing flickers in his eyes. Relief. Then control.
He straightens imdiately and turns to Daphne.
"The Alphas asked to bring her."
The words hit the room hard.
"What?" I blurt out before I can stop myself.
Both of them turn to look at .
"What do you an bring ?" I demand, my voice sharp and rising. "Bring where exactly?"
My heart is already racing.
This makes no sense.
They were the ones who told to leave. Gunnar himself dragged out like I was trash that didn’t belong there. I begged not to go. I was ignored. And now suddenly they want back?
Back where?
Daphne’s expression darkens. "That’s not happening."
The driver doesn’t look at her. His eyes stay on . "I was given a direct order."
"I don’t give a fuck who ordered you," I snap instantly at him. "I’m not going anywhere with you."
He hesitates. "Ma’am—"
"No," I cut in. "I’m done being moved around like a fucking package."
The anger that’s been building in since I woke up finally snaps.
I reach down and yank the IV out of my arm without thinking.
Pain flares instantly, sharp and hot, but I don’t even care at this point.
Sumr gasps. "Riley, stop—"
I grab the bandage off the bedside table and wrap it around my arm tightly, tying it off with shaking hands. My vision swims for a second, but I steady myself.
I swing my legs off the bed and stand.
The room spins, but I force myself to stay upright.
Daphne steps forward imdiately and grabs my arm. "What do you think you’re doing?"
I turn on her so fast she doesn’t have ti to react.
"Don’t you fucking touch with those bloody hands," I snap.
The words land harder than I expect.
Daphne freezes. Her grip loosens.
Her eyes narrow, but there’s sothing else there too. Surprise. Maybe even hurt.
I don’t care.
I yank my arm out of her grasp and storm toward the door.
Sumr calls my na behind , panicked, but I don’t turn back.
I’m done.
Just as I reach the hallway, soone steps directly into my path.
This damn driver again, I don’t even know if he’s a fucking driver or their fucking Beta guard!
"Please, ma’am," he says quickly, lowering his voice. "You can’t leave. I was given a strict warning to bring you back."
I laugh, sharp and bitter.
"Screw you," I spit. "And screw whoever gave that damn warning. Do you understand ?"
People in the hallway stop and stare at .
Nurses. Patients. Everyone’s watching.
I don’t care.
"And don’t block my way," I add coldly.
He hesitates, then steps aside.
I walk past him without another word.
The hospital doors slide open and I step outside.
The air hits hard once I got out.
I take a deep breath, then raise my hand and flag down a cab that’s just pulling past the entrance.
It stops. I climb in imdiately.
"Where to?" the driver asks.
"My house," I say. "Forlorn Estate."
The car pulls away.
I lean back against the seat, my head pounding, my arm throbbing, my entire body aching, but my anger keeps upright.
Ethan wanted to play dangerous?
Fine.
He has officially touched the inner demon of Riley Grayson, CEO of Grayson Holdings.
And I don’t lose.
The driver keeps glancing at through the rearview mirror as I mutter curses under my breath, replaying everything in my head. The crash. Daphne’s words. Ethan.
By the ti we reach the gates, my jaw is clenched so tight it hurts.
The car stops.
I tell the driver to wait.
"I’ll pay you extra," I say. "As much as your ti is worth. You’ll take to my company afterward so wait here."
He nods quickly. "Yes, ma’am."
I step out and walk toward the house.
The fingerprint panel lights up and I place my hand on it.
The door unlocks instantly.
Interesting.
He hasn’t even changed the access.
I don’t knock instead I kick the door open.
The sound echoes through the house.
I walk straight in and stop.
There’s Wendy and there’s a strange man with her and they’re having practically a very hot sizzle of romance on the fucking couch.
They freeze when they see .
Honestly, I think I’m supposed to be shocked seeing her fucking another man already after taking Ethan and destroying my family. But I’m not.
I don’t even slow down. I walk past them without a word and head straight for the stairs.
Wendy’s voice follows . "Riley—!"
I ignore her.
I go straight into the bathroom and turn the shower on cold.
The water hits my skin like ice, but I welco it.
I stand there, letting it wash over , letting it clear my head.
It didn’t take minutes and I’m done and I get out, dry off, and get dressed.
Simple clothes. Clean. Sharp. I apply a little makeup. Just enough.
I put on my heels.
When I walk back downstairs, Wendy is standing there, arms crossed, trying to look strong.
"What are you doing here?" she says. "Ethan told everything that’s going on, and you don’t have any right to be back here any—"
I don’t let her finish. I shove her aside and she stumbles back with a gasp.
I don’t look at her as I walk out.
The cab is still waiting. I get in and shut the door.
"Grayson Holdings headquarters," I say and the man looks at and then the car starts moving.
As the city passes by, my phone vibrates with an unknown number.
I stare at it for a second then I answer.
A familiar voice cos through the line, low and cold.
"Riley," I recognise the voice, it’s Caden. "You just made a very serious mistake."
