Knock, knock, knock.
Three very rhythmic knocks, not hurried, but with a determined attitude.
Wen Xishu quickly ca to the door.
He rembered the rules, he could only observe through the peephole.
But the peephole was much smaller than Wen Xishu had expected. When he pressed his eye to it, he saw nothing but a patch of white.
Suddenly, he had a bad premonition:
"Move your hand away from the peephole."
No response. The person outside continued knocking, still very rhythmic: knock, knock, knock, three knocks.
But Wen Xishu suddenly felt uneasy.
This sound was like so kind of deathly footsteps.
He sensed a chill surging through the room. It was sumr, there shouldn’t be any reason to feel cold.
Wen Xishu dared not open the door. He really didn’t dare.
Looking through the peephole, it was just white. He seed to be in a silent struggle with the "thing" outside the door.
He thought of many ways the other party might communicate. As long as there was dialogue, he could understand their needs, and once he knew the needs, he could exploit them.
This was Wen Xishu’s initial thought.
But now, that sense of "security" was suddenly torn apart.
The first "entity" he encountered didn’t seem to speak at all, just kept knocking: knock, knock, knock.
The door trembled slightly.
Wen Xishu had to step back and cocked the gun in his hand.
He realized that the "knock" sound was quite different from the crisp sound of knocking.
It was sowhat dull.
Like... like it was head-butting the door.
"If this door could be broken down by brute force... that would be ridiculous, right?"
Is this ga still playable?
Or did sleeping during the day turn out to be a mistake? Did it lead to encountering the wrong sequence of monsters at night?
No... there’s no such logic. It’s just a matter of luck.
Wen Xishu quickly dismissed that thought.
Knock, knock, knock.
The dull sound grew louder. Clearly, the "entity" head-butting the door was using more force.
Wen Xishu could even feel a slight tremor.
A ghastly image suddenly ca to his mind: a ghostly figure in white clothes, smashing its head against the door.
If he opened the door, it would be a true "doorway confrontation." It didn’t take much judgnt to know that whatever was outside, it wasn’t human.
The first visitor’s violent thod had disrupted Wen Xishu’s rhythm.
The knocking interval was about fifteen seconds.
Each knock was heavier than the last.
After another fifteen seconds, Wen Xishu realized the door was near its limit.
The sound was no longer just knocking or head-butting, but smashing.
As if it wasn’t even considering whether the door could be opened, it simply obsessed over breaking it down.
Wen Xishu could envision that the door wouldn’t hold out much longer.
He bit his lip and felt a surge of fear inside.
With each heavier knock, Wen Xishu subconsciously sensed a tallic taste.
In his fear and pressure, he had bitten through his lip. This was the first ti he had lost composure like this.
But at that critical mont, Wen Xishu suddenly beca clear-headed. His eyes regained their forr sharpness.
His breathing quickly transitioned from erratic to slow and steady.
After a few deep breaths, a smile finally appeared on Wen Xishu’s face.
"With my level-one attributes, facing a forty-second floor monster is indeed a challenge. Interesting, I almost fell for its trick."
As the "knock, knock, knock" grew louder, Wen Xishu suddenly cald down. He squatted down and gently pressed his hand against the floor.
The smashing sound was now deafening, but despite that, nothing in the room was trembling.
Wen Xishu imdiately felt a sense of relief.
"Although it’s the forty-second floor, it’s not supposed to be this difficult. The safety zone provided to players shouldn’t be easily destroyed by monsters. If it were, this would be a Slaughter Tower, not a Deceit Tower..."
"The gap between and the monster is huge. The discrepancy in Anti-Magic Value nearly got despite being in the safety zone."
The door won’t be smashed open.
All this was just a trick of the monster outside the door.
Though the noise was getting louder, there wasn’t the slightest tremor inside the room; the sound was just an "illusion."
Realizing this, Wen Xishu’s brain finally started functioning normally.
"Very strange, solitude ans death, but right now, I am alone..."
"So why can’t this entity use the rule of solitude ans death to kill ?"
"It’s knocking on the door, fiercely knocking. Or... making think it’s fiercely knocking. It even used illusions to make feel like the door couldn’t hold on. All of this was just to make open the door."
"This indicates that by normal ans, it can’t get through the door..."
"Then why doesn’t it utilize the rule of solitude ans death to co in?"
As Wen Xishu pondered, he seed to have found the answer.
"This monster, from the beginning, has only been knocking. It appears to have lost its ability to speak during its evolution."
Wen Xishu rembered that many monsters in the Slaughter Tower could not communicate with humans.
He and Xiaojin had encountered a Faceless Woman, who could make sounds but could only ask the players: "Who am I?" That sort of question.
"So monsters lose their language abilities during evolution. They can’t converse with ..."
"Such monsters aren’t actually that terrifying. If that’s the case, my luck is actually quite good."
