The villagers watched the writhing figure in silence, so softened and turned away, unwilling to watch further, but not a single person spoke up to stop it.
By the ti Gu Shengyin and Shih Lei returned to the village, everything was nearly over.
The body on the pyre had long lost its vitality, now it was hardly even a body, just a charred black pile of debris.
