Chapter 283: Chapter 283: Post-apocalyptic Light Queen VS Space Female Supporting Character (Twenty-Seven) Chapter 283: Chapter 283: Post-apocalyptic Light Queen VS Space Female Supporting Character (Twenty-Seven) Gu Shengyin remained silent.
Suddenly, she spoke up, “If you were given a chance to return the world to the way it was before the apocalypse, but at the cost of your own life, what choice would you make?”
Lei Ting let out an incredulous laugh, “Why would you suddenly ask such a naive question?”
Gu Shengyin blinked, “Then tell , and answer seriously.”
Lei Ting considered for a mont before answering, “I suppose I would be willing.”
Gu Shengyin looked earnestly at the man, “Why? What do the lives of others have to do with you?”
Lei Ting reached out to ruffle her hair, “Baby, setting aside the question of whether one person’s life is lighter or heavier than the lives of millions, there cos a day when I would hope—”
His gaze swept over the numb people, and he spoke deliberately, “I hope that my descendants, the people of the future, won’t have to repeat a life like this, without seeing a future, without hope. I hope children worry about what to do after breaking their dad’s beloved collection, not whether their mom can snatch the next al; if I had children, I wouldn’t want to hear them ask one day what sunshine and flowers are like. If just my life could bring back the days before the apocalypse, I wouldn’t hesitate for an instant.”
The rims of Gu Shengyin’s eyes suddenly reddened.
She was nearly crying as she said, “But if you did that, have you thought about ? What would I do if you were gone?” Her tears fell in large drops onto Lei Ting’s hand, the scalding warmth almost seared into his heart.
Lei Ting was almost frantically wiping away her tears, coaxing her with a smile, “What’s gotten into you, crying all of a sudden? That was just a hypothetical…”
Gu Shengyin interrupted him, “But what if it were real?”
Lei Ting humored her good-naturedly, “Alright, alright, if it were real, I would definitely discuss it thoroughly with my baby. My baby is so understanding, she would surely understand…”
Gu Shengyin stopped speaking, and after a while, she wiped away her tears and gave Lei Ting an embarrassed smile.
“I’ve been under a lot of pressure recently. You’re not allowed to laugh at !” she stated fiercely.
Lei Ting’s face was full of doting affection, “Anything you say is fine.”
He didn’t harbor any suspicion, partly because what Gu Shengyin had said was so incredible and partly because they had indeed been under a great deal of pressure lately; it wasn’t unusual for emotions to run high.
He didn’t know that one day in the future, when he recalled this conversation, he would experience heartache so profound it would feel like dying.
The two spent the whole day together before Lei Ting finally escorted her ho and went out to take care of so business of his own.
However, when Lei Ting returned ho that evening, he imdiately sensed sothing was off—there was soone in the room.
He fell silent for a mont before asking slowly, “What brings you here uninvited so late at night?”
The room’s light snapped on, and the sight in front of him made Lei Ting’s blood surge instantly.
It wasn’t soone else in his room, it was Gu Shengyin.
She was dressed in a dark purple nightgown that, while not revealing, wonderfully showcased her exquisite figure.
Her hair was slightly disheveled, as she sat on the bed, gazing at him with intent, tender eyes.
“I’ve co to offer myself for your bed, I wonder if Boss Lei Ting would be gracious enough to accept?”
Lei Ting’s throat worked, and he replied in a low, husky voice, “Utterly satisfied.”
At such a mont, if a man could still hold back, he wouldn’t be a man.
