"He confessed?" Jian Liangtong was shocked.

"Yes, if he hadn’t said you two were dating, would I have let him into your boudoir? I’m not that open-minded!" He Xinyun said as she turned around to continue washing dishes.

Jian Liangtong blinked, her inner shock lingering for a long ti.

Did he really confess so easily and readily?

Without discussing it with her first?

And...

Jian Liangtong folded her arms, looking at He Xinyun’s back, and huffed, "He said he was my boyfriend, and you and Dad just believed him? Aren’t you afraid he’s a fraud? Mom, am I even your real daughter, letting him into my room so easily without worrying about your daughter’s safety?"

"Do you think I’d believe soone just because they said they were your boyfriend? It’s because he’s handso!" He Xinyun said without even turning her head.

"..." She was at a loss for words!

"Besides, didn’t you tell and your dad before that your current job is as Shao Yun’s assistant? He’s a big star, and we’ve often seen him on TV; how could he be a bad person?"

At this point, He Xinyun stopped washing again, turned sideways, and looked at Jian Liangtong suspiciously, "Speaking of which, I rembered sothing. When those rumors about you and Shao Yun were going around, had you two already started dating?"

"Mom, since when do you pay attention to the entertainnt world?" Jian Liangtong was surprised again.

You know, her mother was only interested in community affairs and never seed to care about anything else, not even watching TV, except for local family dramas.

So when those "rumors" were spreading before, she wasn’t worried they’d see them at all!

Who would have thought...

"When did I start paying attention to the entertainnt circle? It’s because you insisted on entering that circle," He Xinyun said.

"..." Jian Liangtong’s heart instantly ward beyond belief, moving her to step forward and hug He Xinyun’s shoulders from behind, her little face snuggling against her back, "Mom, now I realize how ridiculous it was to think I wasn’t your real daughter before. You both care so much about ? Mom, I love you to death; you’re the best mom in the whole world."

"Shoo, shoo, shoo."

He Xinyun pretended to be disdainful but didn’t really break free from Jian Liangtong’s hug, her mouth curving upwards.

"Mom, then why didn’t you ask before?" Jian Liangtong questioned in confusion.

"Because your dad and I didn’t think it was true," He Xinyun said.

"Why?" Jian Liangtong froze. Huo Shaojun himself admitted it to the dia; how fake could it get?

He Xinyun said nothing.

Jian Liangtong unclasped her hands, stood to one side, and looked at He Xinyun with bafflent.

He Xinyun glanced at Jian Liangtong sidelong, her face sowhat sheepish, "Your dad and I, ahem, both thought that he probably didn’t like you."

Jian Liangtong’s hopeful heart was instantly shattered into pieces, her lips pouting, almost on the verge of tears as she stared at He Xinyun in grievance.

He Xinyun awkwardly smiled, "It’s not that your dad and I think you’re not excellent, but that boy Shao Yun is too outstanding, so..."

"So you think your daughter doesn’t match up to him!" Jian Liangtong huffed in frustration.

"Ahem," He Xinyun coughed.

Jian Liangtong was furious.

Just when she thought she was their real daughter, not five minutes passed before Jian Liangtong realized, she wasn’t!

Jian Liangtong and He Xinyun ca out of the kitchen, and Jian Ningfeng and Huo Shaojun, who had been talking, suddenly fell silent.

Jian Liangtong looked at the two suspiciously, her mind abuzz with doubts.

Huo Shaojun got up from the sofa, politely addressing Jian Ningfeng and He Xinyun, "It’s getting late; I won’t disturb you, uncle and aunt, any longer. I’ll be taking my leave."

"Won’t you stay a bit longer?" He Xinyun looked at Huo Shaojun.

"No, I’ll visit again another day," Huo Shaojun replied.

He Xinyun smiled, "Alright then. Tongtong, see Shao Yun off."

Instinctively, Jian Liangtong was about to nod.

But recalling what He Xinyun said in the kitchen, Jian Liangtong forcibly held back, raised her chin, and huffed, "He knows how to get downstairs himself. Why would I need to see him off?"

Upon hearing this, Huo Shaojun gave Jian Liangtong a look—a very ordinary glance, yet it sent a chill down Jian Liangtong’s heart.

Slightly inhaling, Jian Liangtong pretended to nonchalantly avert her gaze, making it look like she really wasn’t going to see him off!

"Why are you being so sullen, child?" He Xinyun, seeing this, quickly stepped forward and whispered in Jian Liangtong’s ear.

Jian Liangtong pursed her lips, said nothing, but kept glancing at soone out of the corner of her eye.

"Uncle, Aunt, Tongtong is right. I know how to get downstairs, so you really don’t need to see off. Besides, if she sends downstairs, she’d have to co back alone, and then, I’m afraid I won’t have peace of mind leaving," Huo Shaojun said warmly.

Well-mannered and considerate!

Those were the only words Jian Liangtong could find to describe Huo Shaojun at that mont!

Jian Ningfeng and He Xinyun were probably satisfied beyond asure with Huo Shaojun by now.

Because their eyes brimd with comfort and emotion as they looked at Huo Shaojun.

"So late at night, going downstairs alone, how lonely. How about this, her dad and I will walk you down; we could use a little stroll," He Xinyun said sympathetically.

"Yes, yes, we’ll walk you downstairs," Jian Ningfeng agreed.

"Uncle, Aunt, really..."

"Don’t say anymore, I’ll see him off!"

Before Huo Shaojun could finish, Jian Liangtong declared with resolve.

Jian Liangtong and Huo Shaojun stepped into the elevator under the amiable gaze of Jian Ningfeng and He Xinyun.

As the elevator doors slowly closed, Jian Liangtong saw a faint smile lingering on Huo Shaojun’s face.

But at the exact mont the elevator doors fully closed, Jian Liangtong witnessed how that smile disappeared instantly from Huo Shaojun’s face.

A chill ran down her spine, and Jian Liangtong silently distanced herself from him.

"If you’re so unwilling, why force it?" Huo Shaojun said icily.

"..."

Jian Liangtong’s ears twitched slightly, her eyes fixed on the elevator wall, pretending not to hear.

In her heart, a beat was drumming, sensing soone’s obvious preparation for settling scores later.

Huo Shaojun’s expression was cold and clear, his eyebrows slightly knit, and he pursed his lips as he turned his gaze deeply on the awkwardly pretending-to-not-hear Jian Liangtong.

Jian Liangtong appeared impervious, seemingly oblivious to Huo Shaojun’s gaze.

Finally, the elevator reached the ground floor.

Jian Liangtong quickly exited the elevator, straightening her back as she walked out.

Huo Shaojun didn’t imdiately step out of the elevator but stood inside, his gaze deep as he watched Jian Liangtong’s retreating back for two seconds before frowning and exiting the elevator.

Even after leaving the apartnt complex, Jian Liangtong maintained a distance ahead of Huo Shaojun.

Standing in front of the Bentley, Jian Liangtong had to stop, clenching her fists and taking a deep breath.

The steady footsteps behind her gradually approached, causing Jian Liangtong’s face to tense.

As the cold wind brushed past her side, Jian Liangtong’s hand was suddenly grasped by a slightly cool big hand.

Jian Liangtong gasped in surprise, her whole body was pulled forward.

Being roughly shoved into the car by the man, Jian Liangtong looked flustered, pouting like a wronged wife, at the man who slamd the passenger door and circled to sit in the driver’s seat.

The car started moving in the next mont, and Jian Liangtong glanced at the residential buildings fading away from her view until they disappeared completely, her brow lightly twitched, and she licked her lower lip as she softly asked, "Where are you taking ?"

Huo Shaojun knit his brows tightly, coldly glancing at Jian Liangtong through the rearview mirror. "What do you think?"

"..." Jian Liangtong sulked slightly, clutching her fingers, saying, "If I’m gone too long, my parents will worry."

Swoosh—

An unidentified object flew towards Jian Liangtong.

Startled, Jian Liangtong hurriedly scrambled to catch it.

Holding the item in her hand, Jian Liangtong saw it was a black phone, staring suspiciously at Huo Shaojun, "Why give a phone?"

"...What do you think?"

Huo Shaojun gazed at Jian Liangtong intently.

Jian Liangtong’s eyes darted away, staring at the phone in her hand for several minutes before slowly saying, "If I call my parents to say I’m not coming ho tonight, they’ll overthink things."

Huo Shaojun gave a cold snort, "Do you think it’s more serious to make them believe sothing happened to their daughter, or for them to know you’re spending the night with your boyfriend?"

Spending the night?

Jian Liangtong choked, her face flushed as she said, "Both are serious, okay!"

To know Ms. He has always strictly controlled her, ever since starting middle school, Ms. He tirelessly reminded her not to ’develop random relationships’ before graduating college, and any breach would result in strict punishnt!

Even though she has started working, she technically hasn’t graduated from university, strictly speaking, she’s still a college student!

She had not dared to tell her family about her relationship with Huo Shaojun before because she feared Ms. He’s reaction.

But today, it seed she had overthought things.

Or perhaps soone was just too excellent, making Ms. He forget all her previous threats and warnings.

However, if she fails to return ho tonight, that would be a huge deal!

After all, they had left right under her mother’s nose!

Not returning would be unreasonable!

Upon hearing this, Huo Shaojun pursed his lips in silence, no longer pressing Jian Liangtong to make the call.

Things unrelated to him, he could naturally disregard.

But when it concerned Jian Liangtong’s parents, Huo Shaojun couldn’t ignore it.

Despite his strong reluctance to let Jian Liangtong go back, tonight, in fairness and reason, he had to let her return.

With that in mind, Huo Shaojun suddenly spun the steering wheel, made a U-turn, and headed back towards Jian Liangtong’s apartnt complex.

Seeing this, Jian Liangtong’s lips slightly curled up, her moist eyes looked touched as she gazed at Huo Shaojun.

Huo Shaojun spared Jian Liangtong a cold glance.

Jian Liangtong couldn’t help but grin foolishly.

Huo Shaojun frowned, showing unabashed disdain on his handso face.

"Little brother, do you really like a lot?" Jian Liangtong said mischievously.

"..." Huo Shaojun’s mouth twitched slightly, shooting Jian Liangtong a sidelong glance.

"Not smoking? Can’t hold your liquor? Uh, little brother, who are you talking about? Soone I know?" Jian Liangtong teased, looking at Huo Shaojun.
