Several thick bolts of electricity shot into the sky, raising the ambient brightness of the street by an entire magnitude within a brief two seconds.
"Ah...!"
Kanzaki Kaori cried out, gripping the hilt of her longsword with both hands to counterattack through the paralysis. In an instant, she drew her blade and slashed, the strike flashing like a deadly laser beam.
A massive shockwave of wind exceeding a Level 10 gale swept through the street, sending countless pieces of rock flying. It looked as if a hundred-ter-long blade of wind and dust had cleaved the entire city block in two.
Yuuya's fist collided directly with Kanzaki's blade. The sheer, physical impact of their clash caused a deep layer of the asphalt beneath their feet to be violently torn away.
Tear—!
The residual shockwave shredded Yuuya's white coat and shirt into tiny pieces.
Yuuya glanced down at his pants and felt a surge of imnse relief. Luckily, he had equipped a pair of pants made from advanced carbon-weave super materials obtained from a Treasure Chest earlier, otherwise he would have been in serious trouble. Fighting a Saint while half-naked was definitely not on his agenda today.
"That's really too much! Even though you're a great beauty, you're in such a hurry that you tore my clothes right off! I feel so violated."
Yuuya teased her rcilessly, but his physical actions were anything but slow. He used his full kinetic strength to fight the Saint.
His physical speed was also pushed to the absolute limit that the human body could achieve due to the continuous vector manipulation dissipating the friction and air resistance around him.
Both of his hands blurred from the excessive speed. This kind of raw, physical power output was officially rated as 'Level 5 Physical Mastery' in his classified file—the theoretical limit of the human physiological system.
Kanzaki's speed was completely on par with his, and it could even be said that this wasn't even her usual full-force speed.
The two sides clashed directly, creating deafening sonic booms that sent dirt and asphalt debris flying everywhere.
Like a localized desert storm, visibility was completely obscured by the dust.
"Boy! Stop fighting! Let's retreat," Kanzaki said, a bead of cold sweat rolling down her forehead. Her voice was filled with a mix of helplessness and urgent warning.
'Wow... he's really strong,' Kanzaki thought frantically. 'His calm deanor and increasingly excited emotions show that he isn't even using his full strength... or even a significant fraction of it.'
'If this fight really continues, things will beco catastrophic. The only way to completely suppress him would probably be to fully activate my Stigmata. But if the Stigmata is activated, that boy will definitely drop his casual attitude and go all out with his spatial abilities to kill .'
'Then it will truly beco a battle of annihilation that can only end when one side falls.'
"Co and go as you please? Do you think this is a convenience store?" Yuuya said sarcastically through the dust. "You Magicians started this fight. It's my turn to tell you when it's over."
As he spoke, a silver arcade coin suddenly appeared between his fingers. Electricity flickered wildly across his skin, and high voltage distorted the air at his fingertips.
CLANG!
An orange-red beam of hyper-accelerated plasma flashed past. Kanzaki reflexively swung her Nodachi at it, and the sheer force of the deflected projectile violently twisted her blade twenty-five degrees backward. The kinetic impact sent Kanzaki sliding backward across the asphalt.
Kanzaki's longsword carved a deep trench over twenty ters into the ground before she managed to stop her montum. She gritted her teeth, watching with extre caution as Yuuya suddenly appeared right in front of her.
Another orange light flashed from his hand. Her body tensed, and she instinctively dodged sideways.
Such terrifying, explosive speed was sothing she couldn't easily dodge even with her Stigmata activated; she could only make a prediction within a split second by paying absolute attention to the opponent's muscular twitches before the coin was fired.
"You managed to parry one, and then completely dodge a supersonic Railgun traveling at three tis the speed of sound. Such an enviable reaction speed," Yuuya noted. He then raised his foot to kick her.
Under the influence of his enhanced physical mastery, he could unleash twenty-five tons of raw force from his leg alone.
Kanzaki couldn't harm him at all.
"Ahhhhh...!"
At that mont, Kanzaki let out a roar like a desperate samurai. She suddenly unleashed nearly a hundred tis the power she had been using previously. Her figure instantly beca an imperceptible blur as she vanished to dodge Yuuya's kick.
Imdiately after, Yuuya felt the concussive force of a sonic boom detonate right next to his body.
"Yuisen (God-Splitter)!"
Kanzaki's low voice echoed from all directions at once. Yuuya was stunned for a microsecond, his eyes half-closed. All he could hear around him were the deafening sounds of countless sonic explosions. A violent tornado of dust and gravel instantly surrounded him.
Kanzaki Kaori's figure was completely invisible. No, rather than being truly invisible, she was moving entirely too fast for human dynamic vision to capture.
This was true supersonic movent capability; the popping sounds he heard were continuous sonic booms as she repeatedly exceeded the speed of sound.
Looking down at the ground, several layers of the reinforced asphalt were being actively scraped away at a speed visible to the naked eye by the sheer wind pressure of her movent.
'The God-Splitter... has she finally activated her Stigmata?' Yuuya thought. 'It's really an outrageous technique. She possesses power that briefly surpasses the human realm, supersonic movent, and can supposedly perform a hundred sword-draw techniques in a single second.'
'However... since she clearly ans no fatal harm and has no intention of actually cutting with those strikes... I'll let her go.'
Yuuya stomped his foot, instantly unleashing a massive vector attack in all directions. All the flowing vectors of the kinetic tornado surrounding him were violently stirred up and canceled out. The localized dust storm instantly dissipated, and a "rain" of rocks and soil poured down around him.
...
Yuuya stood completely still in the center of the ruined street.
There was no other sound except for the patter of falling debris; the street was completely empty.
Yuuya quickly looked back toward Index and breathed a sigh of genuine relief when he found her still standing safely by the convenience store, staring at him in awe.
"They escaped?"
Instead of using her supersonic speed to snatch Index away, Kanzaki had used the dust storm as cover to grab Stiyl.
Yuuya frowned as he looked at the pool of red blood pooling in the corner not far away.
'Was it because she physically couldn't carry two people at supersonic speeds? Or was she worried that if she took Index, I would ruthlessly hunt her down and annihilate them?'
'That's a brilliant tactical judgnt on her part. If I had chased after them to get Index back, Stiyl's injuries would have been the least of their problems. Either way, Index is temporarily safe with , which is why Kanzaki prioritized saving her dying partner and escaping.'
"What a pity..." Yuuya muttered to himself, crossing his arms over his bare chest.
Moving at supersonic speeds, invisible to the human eye, they had vanished without a trace. Even with his Spatial Movent, he couldn't track their coordinates without a visual lock.
He could try using his Electromagnetic tracking, but that could only detect blurry bio-electric signatures. With nearly 2.3 million people living in Academy City, it would take forever to single out their specific signatures without prior calibration.
"Never mind. You'll be forced to co back eventually."
Yuuya took out a fresh trench coat from his System Storage, draped it over his bare shoulders, and walked toward Index with an easy smile.
"How about it, Index? Wasn't I amazing just now? They were just re evil Magicians. Shouldn't you praise ?"
Index trotted over to him, her cute expression revealing a mix of imnse relief and deep worry.
"Yuuya! You were so amazing! You chased away those two terrifying Magicians! But... it was so dangerous just now! What if you had gotten hurt? I was so incredibly worried. I only felt relieved when I saw that you were alright."
Index looked at Yuuya with genuine concern, her brows furrowing slightly, her green eyes filled with pure worry for his safety.
"I think fighting them was completely worth it just to see you worry about so much," Yuuya grinned, reaching out to gently rub her veiled head.
WEE-WOO! WEE-WOO!
At that exact mont, the wail of Anti-Skill sirens sounded from down the block. The noise of the city returned as automated security drones and heavily armored vehicles began swarming the area.
"This is bad! We need to get out of here before Judgnt arrives!" Yuuya's expression changed. He hurriedly grabbed Index's hand and activated his teleportation, fleeing the scene of their massive collateral damage.
