Our clients typically bear less fault; most of it lies with unscrupulous interdiaries. The greater the fault, the greater the liability for compensation. Regarding this particular incident... two adult won walked their dog without a leash. They asked a minor boy for help. They allowed him to enter the water. Combined with their behavior of leaving afterward, they should bear at least half the bla!

"Only half?" Zhang Qingyuan and the others were sowhat indignant upon hearing this, expressing great incomprehension. In their simple view, this should have been entirely the responsibility of those two won! If they hadn’t failed to use a leash, the subsequent accident might not have happened. Their shouting, asking the boy for help, was what led to him entering the river. Now, he was gone. And they only bore half the responsibility?

"Legally, that is indeed the case," Qin Mu said with a bitter smile, then sighed. Although the actions of the two won were condemnable, the other half of the bla... lay with the boy. He was too eager to help. He overestimated himself and risked danger to help others. If he had been more indifferent and just watched coldly at that mont... perhaps he would have faced verbal condemnation from the two won, but he, and his family, might not have ended up shattered. If anyone was to bla... it was his parents, for raising him too well.

「Zizhou.」

In a high-end residential community, Qing Lan was on her phone, continuously searching for news online about the "dog rescue drowning." Since the incident occurred, she had been constantly concerned about the matter. Online, the discussion surrounding this event was growing increasingly intense. Various versions of the story were circulating widely, causing quite a stir. Fortunately, she rembered Qin Mu’s warning and avoided getting involved until the facts were clear.

Online public opinion... had shifted from initially condemning the two won to discussing the nature of heroic acts.

"He was only sixteen, not yet an adult, and he lost his life trying to save a dog."

"So, I always say, in situations like this, it’s better not to help if you can avoid it. You risk your own life, and people might not even appreciate it. It never ends well."

"I heard that heroic acts can add 20 points to college entrance exams; he wasn’t risking it for those points, was he?"

"Is that sothing a human being would say? The guy was kind-hearted, helping out heroically, and you’re twisting it into him doing it for points?"

"..."

Most people felt that when performing heroic acts, one should act within their capabilities. If you’re not capable... you absolutely shouldn’t try to be a hero. The most infuriating part... was undoubtedly that they asked a minor for help. Regardless, minors are far from adequate in terms of cognitive ability, crisis managent skills, and ntal fortitude. Even if those two won were panicking... they shouldn’t have asked a minor for help.

I wonder when the official notification will be released, Qing Lan thought with a sigh. She pulled out her phone and opened the Study Law Alliance forum, planning to kill so ti.

As it turned out... the Study Law Alliance forum was also in an uproar over this incident. Everyone was discussing the case and its potential legal ramifications. So had even pieced together various versions of the "truth of the incident" based on the available facts, along with their corresponding outcos.

One scenario proposed that both parties knew it was about saving the dog.

Another suggested the won knew it was about saving the dog but lied, claiming soone was drowning, thus misleading the boy.

A third posited that the won stated they were saving a dog but called the dog "little sister," causing the boy to misunderstand and think he was saving a person.

Yet another theory was that the boy didn’t want to enter the river but was morally pressured by the won into doing so.

And another: the boy was reluctant to go into the river but was tricked by the won who told him the water was shallow.

There were... All sorts of different speculations listed out by these resourceful netizens. They had also deduced the potential criminal and civil liabilities involved in each.

It seems these netizens... didn’t watch those law lecture videos in vain, Qing Lan thought, her lips twitching as she couldn’t help but remark to herself.

She casually browsed through the posts and found the analyses in them... quite reasonable. She heard that several of the original posters were even law exam candidates. They were all closely following this incident. Apart from their indignation and sorrow over the incident, they were also eager to see if their analyses were correct.

——————————

P.S. Many people advised not to write about this incident, so I’ll explain my reasons here.

My reason for writing this isn’t just to chase a hot topic; it’s also because this incident occurred not far from my own residential complex. I can still see that river even now.

The search and rescue scene at that ti, and the cries of the boy’s relatives, remain vivid in my mory.

The search went on for two whole days.

Writing this part of the story also stems from a sense of injustice I feel.

As an aside, while I might be powerless to help in reality, I can at least write about it in my novel.
