Liu Qiao, seeing the prosecutors remain silent, continued to defend himself, "I always abide by the law and pay my taxes in full, never a cent short. In my spare ti, I also donate dication to hospitals and give money to impoverished children in the mountains. I’m just an ordinary pharmacy owner..."

As he spoke, his tone beca increasingly impassioned, as if he wanted to swear an oath right there and then. However, the three prosecutors remained entirely unmoved.

They said coldly, "Don’t play dumb here. We’ve brought you in to discuss your collusion with Han Dongting, illegally selling overpriced dication. Soone reported that you were colluding and giving kickbacks to Han Dongting every month. You must know best where Han Dongting’s enormous wealth cos from."

At these words, Liu Qiao’s expression flickered. But he quickly regained his composure and said with a bitter smile, "Officer, accusations require evidence. When did I ever collude with a doctor? Yes, I know Han Dongting, but he’s just an acquaintance, and we have little contact. I know many doctors at the hospital. Sotis, when their hospital runs out of dication, they co to my pharmacy. When patients co to my pharmacy to buy dication, they do so of their own accord. What does that have to do with the doctors? It’s even less likely that I’m colluding with these doctors..."

As he finished, his face was once again filled with feigned grievance and injustice. Every word he uttered aid to distance himself from the matter. He even demanded the prosecutors present evidence.

The three prosecutors exchanged glances, sensing the complexity of this case. Regarding this case, they had screened all the doctors at Sanhe Hospital and discovered several with issues. For the others, there was clear evidence of cris, such as embezzling funds for dical equipnt purchases or accepting bribes for scheduling surgeries. Only Han Dongting’s case remained unclear.

They had been investigating for several days. Han Dongting remained tight-lipped, refusing to reveal the source of his massive wealth. He had already been legally detained and would soon be officially arrested. anwhile, Liu Qiao, the pri suspect, was utterly uncooperative, refusing to confess anything.

This ant they had no solid evidence to prove Han Dongting had accepted bribes. Without such evidence, Han Dongting could only be charged with the cri of possessing enormous wealth from unexplained sources. And Liu Qiao would continue to remain at large.

"You’ve been questioning for a long ti now. If there’s nothing else, may I go?" Seeing the three prosecutors remain silent, Liu Qiao provocatively asked again.

The prosecutor in the middle frowned, visibly displeased by the suspect’s arrogance. Yet, he had no evidence.

"You can go." Finally, he had no choice but to follow procedure and let Liu Qiao out of the interrogation room.

After Liu Qiao left, the two prosecutors beside him cried out angrily, "Deputy Director, are we just going to let him walk? Based on the evidence we have, he’s almost certainly the source of that enormous wealth!"

But the middle-aged prosecutor shook his head. "Our role is to investigate and interrogate rationally. Without conclusive evidence of a cri, further detention is futile." He understood the situation clearly: this was a matter of potential imprisonnt. Liu Qiao would never admit it so easily. Han Dongting, on his end, was also unlikely to talk.

Continuing the interrogation would only put them in a more passive position. In the end, without evidence, they would still have to release him.

He took a deep breath. "Show the informant’s report," he instructed.

This report... he didn’t know its origin, only that its contents accused Han Dongting and Liu Qiao of colluding to dupe patients into buying overpriced dication. They had been profiting for years, with countless patients affected.

"Huh? Why is there a sentencing recomndation in this report?" he suddenly exclaid. He noticed that the latter part of the report even included sentencing recomndations!

In addition to the accusations, the latter part of the report detailed potential criminal sentences for Han Dongting and the pharmacy owner. It clearly listed several sentencing suggestions, such as for the cri of amassing unexplained wealth and for bribery. These even included potential cris the pharmacy owner might be implicated in, such as tax evasion and money laundering...

Seeing this, his expression brightened; an idea flashed through his mind. He couldn’t help but blurt out, "Right, check Liu Qiao’s personal assets!"

So far, they had only investigated the basic situation of Liu Qiao’s pharmacy, learning of its massive sales volu. The pharmacy sold neither counterfeit nor substandard dication, nor was it involved in tax evasion. The issues listed in the report concerning the pharmacy simply didn’t exist.

But the ntion of money laundering made him consider Liu Qiao’s personal assets. Liu Qiao, unlike Han Dongting, didn’t appear to have wealth from unexplained sources. His inco was all legitimately derived from the pharmacy’s profits.

Therefore, they had to investigate Liu Qiao’s personal assets. If Liu Qiao was colluding with Han Dongting and giving him kickbacks, the money must have originated from the pharmacy’s profits.

"This informant... seems to be quite an expert," the middle-aged prosecutor couldn’t help but remark. "An ordinary informant could not have prepared sothing so comprehensive, even listing potential charges against the suspects in the report."
