The living room was so silent that not a single sound could be heard.
Mason Nightshade held his phone in both hands, staring at it without blinking. Half an hour had passed, and the servants silently wondered if the young master was lost in thought. Otherwise, how could soone sit there unmoving for half an hour?
The butler hesitated whether to go over and ask a question.
Suddenly, Mason Nightshade stood up, grabbed his coat, draped it over his shoulders, and walked out. As he passed by the dining room, he paused, glanced into the kitchen—a few untouched plates of leftovers on the counter caught his eye. They looked familiar, suddenly reminding him of the dishes from the table last night.
Did she not have dinner last night?
Mason Nightshade's heart ached with a sudden pang of heartache.
The butler saw the young master staring in one direction, and following his gaze, he understood imdiately what the young master was thinking and said, "After Young Master left last night, Young Madam didn't eat a single bite before going upstairs to eat. Young Madam spent the whole afternoon preparing the dinner in the kitchen. Even I was surprised; I didn't expect soone who usually doesn't cook to be so skilled."
"What did you say?" Mason Nightshade turned to look at the butler.
The butler's heart skipped a beat, wondering if he had said sothing wrong.
"Which part are you asking about, sir?"
"The dishes on the table yesterday, Aurelia cooked them herself?" Mason Nightshade asked.
"Yes, Young Madam cooked them. She went into the kitchen as soon as she got back yesterday, not allowing the servants to help, and prepared the entire al herself," the butler replied, realizing why Mason Nightshade was asking this.
What do n care most about?
He might not love this woman, but he would certainly feel touched by the things she silently did for him.
If the young master's feelings towards Young Madam weren't clear after working here for so many years, it would all be in vain.
"After Young Master left yesterday, Young Madam was very downcast, stayed in her room, and didn't even co out for dinner," the butler said.
Mason Nightshade clenched his fist, "Didn't you try to persuade her to co down for dinner?"
The butler glanced at Mason Nightshade with difficulty, "Young Madam's temper…even if we tried to persuade her, she wouldn't co down."
"If she won't eat, then make her eat by force," Mason Nightshade said in a deep voice, realizing he was losing control of his emotions. He took several deep breaths, and just the thought of her waiting for him with an empty stomach all night made his heart ache. He wished he could give himself a good lashing.
"Don't touch the dishes!"
After saying that, Mason Nightshade picked up the car keys and left the house.
The butler watched the lights flash in the courtyard as the car gradually drove away, exhaled, turned back to look at the dishes on the counter, and instructed the servants, "Put the dishes in the fridge, and don't let anyone touch these dishes. Understood?"
