"Mom, do you think, could her bank card be the one she stole?"
Jovana Shaw's words hit Clara Philips like a bucket of cold water, suddenly realizing that it was a real possibility.
Seeing Clara's reaction, Jovana knew this could be true, "After the last ti Aurelia ca ho, have you checked these things again?" she asked.
"How could I possibly look at them often," Clara replied, pursing her lips. "This is not sothing your father should know about, I'm too busy guarding against him to dare to frequently dig them out. Besides, these things are under my bed, safer than anywhere else."
"But Aurelia could've entered your room, couldn't she?" Jovana asked.
Clara fell silent.
Her room was never locked; the servants could co and go as they pleased, but they would never dare to touch such private things, unless...
If Balthazar Shaw had found out, they would certainly not be living so peacefully now.
Only one possibility remained.
The person who took the bank card was—Aurelia!
Clara, in a fit of rage, smashed her phone onto the floor, shattering it into pieces. From between clenched teeth, she forced out the words "Aurelia," cursing, "That damned little brat, not only did she take the bank card, but she also took the property deed!"
"Property deed? What property deed?" Jovana was confused, "Mom, you don't an the deed you said you would give as a dowry, do you? Mom, say sothing!"
"How could you let Aurelia steal sothing so important!"
"Do you think I wanted this?!" Clara shouted, "Who knew that little brat was so clever, using the chance when she stayed overnight to steal the stuff!"
Clara felt as if her whole heart had been ripped out at that mont, bleeding and aching.
"I'm going to tell Dad!" A wild glow flashed in Jovana's eyes. That house was sothing she longed for, she often went to gaze at it, no matter its location or decor, it was just her style. It was her house!
But Aurelia had snatched away the house that belonged to her.
Over the years, Jovana had grown fond of claiming things snatched from Aurelia as her own. She naturally assud that Aurelia's possessions were hers, including that house. She felt no guilt at all.
"Smack!"
Just as Jovana stood up, her face stung fiercely, swelling up imdiately. She looked at Clara with teary eyes, bewildered, "Mom, why?"
"Idiot! Why did I give birth to such a stupid daughter like you," Clara said, full of frustration and disappointnt. "We seized the house secretly in the first place. If your dad finds out about this, do you think the two of us wouldn't be beaten to death?"
Clara, having shared her life with Balthazar for so many years, knew well her standing in his heart. He appeared to treat them well, but inside, he was still thinking about his first wife who had been dead for many years.
Every month, he would visit her grave, thinking she wouldn't know.
If it weren't for her secretly driving a wedge between him and Aurelia, the house would've long been handed over to Aurelia.
Moreover, if she hadn't lied to Balthazar years ago, telling him that he had forced himself on her when drunk, leading to her pregnancy, he wouldn't have let her into this house.
Balthazar's kindness to her ca from guilt. If he knew the truth, the fate of the mother and daughter would be grim indeed.
