Mason Nightshade's body stiffened.
Her breath lightly brushed past like a feather, stirring his heartstrings. Mason looked down to see her long, curled eyelashes gently drooping, her eyes closed, a satisfied expression on her face.
He chuckled silently.
She always inadvertently stirred his calm waters, yet remained unaware.
"Are you still mad at ?" His rough fingertip brushed over her brow, stroking her delicate, elegant eyebrows. Mason's eyes lowered slightly, his murmuring tinged with a hint of sorrow, "What do I have to do to make you not be mad at ?"
"In the past, did you go through all of this? But still acted happy in front of as if nothing happened. I was oblivious to everything. How painful it must have been for you to force a smile in front of then."
"But I knew nothing at all!"
Mason's heart suddenly ached.
If not for the chance of rebirth.
If not for the miracle that allowed him to live again and go through all this once more.
All these things he would still be completely unaware of.
The pain she endured, the silent sacrifices she made, her love for him, he knew nothing at all.
Mason closed his eyes tightly, suppressing the deep-seated ache in his chest, as the events of that night flashed through his mind like a film.
He woke up, feeling pain all over, the car had crashed against a stone railing on the roadside, a man stood by the car, pale-faced, watching him bleed from his forehead, trembling as he called for an ambulance.
He glanced around at his surroundings, his pupils appeared cold and terrifying from heightened alertness, suddenly glaring at the man, freezing him in fear, causing him to drop his phone, the receiver filled with an uncertain inquiry from the other side.
He opened the car door and stepped out, grabbing the man by the collar and pressing him against the car, his cold gaze bore into the man's eyes, demanding harshly, "Who are you people? Who is that man? What exactly are your intentions?"
The man trembled, his face pale with fear.
Not a word ca out.
At that mont, the phone in the car rang twice.
He glanced at it, a hint of confusion flashed in his eyes, but after a mont's thought, he answered it.
Hearing it was a call from the hospital, he was startled for a mont, then he heard the news of Aurelia Shaw's injury—his mind instantly exploded, freezing him in place, filled with confusion, but there was no ti to ponder, he let the man go, quickly got into the car, and rushed away.
His gaze inadvertently caught the ti on the phone.
It was two years ago?
On the way to the hospital, his mind kept echoing the words he heard on the call.
"Hello, are you a family mber of Aurelia Shaw? Aurelia was injured in a wire incident. Please co over quickly."
"Are you saying... Aurelia Shaw? Are you sure it's Aurelia Shaw?"
"What do you an sure or not? Are you her family or not? The patient's condition is critical, she's been taken into surgery, co to XX hospital imdiately."
Aurelia... Aurelia...
He gripped the steering wheel tightly with both hands.
No ti to think about why soone would tell him that the deceased Aurelia Shaw was at the hospital.
No ti to worry about the logic of it all.
No ti to have soone investigate the truth of the information.
A strong feeling in his heart drove him, an urgent, intense need to rush over, to see for himself!
Otherwise, he would regret it for a lifeti!
He hurriedly rushed to the hospital and saw her lying on the hospital bed, her face pale, eyes lightly closed, his gaze first fell to her chest.
Though faint, there was indeed movent.
She... was still alive?
A sense of relief and intense shock rose in his heart.
But this joy did not last long, he soon realized it wasn't that she was still alive, but that he—
had been reborn.
