Aurelia Shaw stood in the midst of the reporters, wearing a black and white knee-length dress, the draped skirt accentuating her long, slender legs, with her particularly beautiful ankles and her seaweed-like long hair falling over her shoulders. Her plain face, without any makeup, looked stunning under the flashlights.
There wasn’t a trace of emotion on her face, her eyes slightly raised, a glimr of determination flashing in her otherwise indifferent gaze. She stared seriously into the cara, speaking clearly and deliberately, "This is my first and last response. In the future, I will not answer any interviews about my private life."
Everyone held their breath.
"Mason Nightshade and I have indeed divorced."
"Aside from that, the reasons and details of our divorce are private, and it is not convenient to reveal more in public. Please focus more on my work in the future."
Upon hearing the four words "have divorced," the reporters who were eager to pursue gossip found themselves sowhat choked by her later words.
The multitude of questions they had kept to themselves seed to be blocked by her.
They were, after all, experienced reporters. When had they ever been stopped by an artist who had just debuted for less than a year?
Just as they planned to pretend not to hear her last words and pursue so sensational gossip, they noticed Aurelia Shaw’s gaze directed at the reporter who had asked her the sharp question earlier. Her piercing eyes clearly carried a sense of targeting!
The reporters held their breath, secretly delighted: she really was a rookie, already unable to hold back, wanting revenge. If they couldn’t catch the highlight of the divorce, so scandalous gossip would also boost sales.
Aurelia Shaw seed not to notice the vigilant gazes of the reporters, her peach blossom eyes narrowing coolly, locking onto the male reporter. Her voice, smooth and slightly languid, issued from her red lips, "Did you just ask if I’m deliberately stirring up publicity?"
The male reporter’s heart skipped a beat under her gaze, but then he rembered she was just a naive girl, young and impetuous. Without Night Mason guarding her, what waves could she stir?
Thinking of the substantial reward promised to him, he sneered sarcastically, "Isn’t that so? Newly debuted and you’ve already been in the hot search headlines repeatedly, catching the audience’s attention. If I rember correctly, the only work you have to show is ’Dawnsong,’ which you fild with top actors Andrew Kennedy and Isabel Bennett, right?"
"Humph, an artist who climbs up through hype and attracts fans—how much skill could you really have? Still using the divorce for publicity. Does Mr. Nightshade know you’re exploiting him like this?"
"Hiss!" Everyone present drew in a sharp breath. Everyone knew that Mr. Nightshade hated when journalists made a big deal out of him, and yet this person recklessly brought him up.
The crowd instinctively distanced themselves from him to avoid being implicated.
The questioning reporter was pleased with himself. A woman Mr. Nightshade did not want, was she still worthy of his attention? Maybe Mr. Nightshade even wanted to blacklist her; he was doing Mr. Nightshade a huge favor and might even receive his gratitude.
This reporter clearly did not realize he was courting disaster.
Aurelia Shaw’s eyes lifted, and she let out a mocking laugh, "Easton News Agency’s reporter, if I rember correctly, it was your agency that first released the news of my marriage. Didn’t your superiors tell you whether I bribed you to help with my publicity?"
"You..." The reporter was stumped by the question, looking around at the odd and mocking gazes of his colleagues.
Unspoken rules exist everywhere, but the worst is when they are brought to the open.
