"Even if it's Xiao Zhang driving, you should check again before getting in the car," Aurelia said, her tone allowing no argunt.
"Alright," Balthazar Shaw agreed.
He turned to Xiao Zhang, "Did you hear what my daughter said?"
Xiao Zhang nodded, "I heard it all."
"From now on, do as my daughter said."
"Yes, Mr. Shaw."
Xiao Zhang replied.
Footsteps sounded outside, and Clara Philips and her daughter walked in. Seeing Balthazar on the hospital bed, Clara's eyes instantly reddened. She hurried over in high heels.
"Balthazar, are you okay now? How did you suddenly have a car accident? Did you have the doctor check you? Xiao Zhang, why are you still standing here? Hurry and get the doctor!"
Aurelia squinted her eyes.
Balthazar patted her hand, "The doctor already checked, it's just so minor scrapes, no need to fuss. I can go ho after the IV."
Clara let out a sigh of relief, wiping her tears, "I nearly died of fright when I got Xiao Zhang's call. Luckily, you're okay. If sothing had happened, what would I do?"
Aurelia sneered, "It's obvious Clara you ca in quite a rush; your makeup is perfectly done, and your outfit is quite exquisite. You must have taken quite so ti before leaving the house?"
Clara's face stiffened, then she smiled, "I was out shopping with Jovana when I got the call, Aurelia, you've misunderstood ..."
"You don't need to explain to ," Aurelia coldly interrupted her false words, "This is the extent of our relationship, whether there's a misunderstanding or not, it doesn't add another layer. There's really no need to explain so much to ."
Clara looked disappointed, her hands by her side quietly clenched into a fist. She knew Aurelia was using her to make explanations to others. Not even a shred of dignity was left for her; this little brat was still just as detestable, and she'd love to get rid of her imdiately.
"Since you're here, look after my dad well."
"Are you leaving?" Clara caught onto sothing important, raising her voice, deliberately glancing at Balthazar.
Aurelia chuckled coldly, her red lips curling up, eyes full of sarcasm, "Unlike you with plenty of free ti to go shopping. I've seen my dad and understood his condition. Since you have so much free ti, you can take care of him."
"Aren't you best at caring for people?" She added after a pause.
Clara felt hateful inside but showed no change on her face. She gazed affectionately at Aurelia, a habitual hint of timidity in her eyes, wanting to say sothing but stopping herself, glancing at Balthazar.
To her surprise, this ti Balthazar wasn't angry.
Clara was suspicious: What had happened while she wasn't here? Why did it suddenly feel like everything was slipping out of her control?
Clara quickly steadied herself and said to Jovana Shaw, "Jovana, your sister's busy acting, you don't have much coursework during this ti, help take care of your dad. He likes having kids around."
Realizing she said sothing wrong, Clara hurriedly closed her mouth, glancing at Aurelia, then at Balthazar, showing a look of regret.
Sadly, no one present appreciated her performance.
"Dad, I'm going back now."
Aurelia said to Balthazar, her tone still indifferent, but her eyes softened considerably.
Clara didn't notice this and let out a breath of relief, thinking she had overthought.
