Lu Duo'er was stunned, "Feng, this is impossible, right?"
"It seems impossible, but that is exactly what makes it most likely." Ren Feng spoke, "Yes, those attackers were from the Kachin Rebel Army who had conflicts with the Lu Family, but think about it, Duo'er, did they know when you would return to Tiannan?"
Upon hearing this, Lu Duo'er suddenly felt like she was electrocuted, her eyes filled with disbelief.
"The Kachin Rebel Army has a reason to act, but they actually do not have the opportunity to do so. There is a saying, 'Kill with a borrowed knife,' and those people just now were rely playing the role of the knife."
Ren Feng continued his analysis, "And as soon as you returned to Southern Province, you were attacked. Obviously, soone leaked your whereabouts, providing the Kachin Rebel Army the chance. Or there's another possibility—"
"There is a traitor among the Lu Family." Lu Duo'er interjected for Ren Feng.
"Exactly, think about it. Earlier you were in Jiangnan City, and the Lu Family Patriarch had just been in an accident today. Ah Ye hurriedly ca over as well; this news wasn't known to others, right? If you didn't reveal your whereabouts, then the most likely people to know your movents would be mbers of the Lu Family, not the Kachin Rebel Army. Therefore, the one attacking from the shadows is very likely soone from the Lu Family."
Ren Feng's analysis filled Lu Duo'er's eyes with a struggling expression, as if she couldn't believe it.
"Of course, all of this is just speculation. The specifics are still unknown; it's just that your uncle was injured this morning, and then as soon as you returned to Tiannan, you were attacked, prompting thoughts of a preditated event."
Ren Feng's thought process was chillingly calm, just like when he road the European and Middle East-African regions alone, relying on this line of thinking and strength.
"Duo'er, first tell how your family ca into enmity with the Kachin Rebel Army, and in the Lu Family, aside from your uncle, who are the important figures and their relationships to him." Ren Feng asked.
This was important. Right now he had a premonition that the matters of the Lu Family felt like a vortex that had sucked Lu Duo'er in, and the vortex's starting point should not be in her generation but traced back to her father's generation.
Lu Duo'er nodded, "Our Lu Family, aside from the jade business, is also involved in so other businesses. We trade with so foreign powers to exchange for resources or mining rights."
The Kachin Rebel Army is a rising power in Yangjin Country. They've developed rapidly and once wanted our Lu Family's help to transport weapons, but my father refused, leading to subsequent clashes, the most serious being when they killed soone at one of our mines, making us enemies."
Ren Feng nodded, indeed, they were involved in the arms business.
"Duo'er, the governnt must be backing this matter, right?"
"I'm not very clear on that, but the Southern Province governnt hasn't intervened. They seem to turn a blind eye to it. Additionally, our house frequently receives so very special and mysterious guests, whose identities even I don't know. Each ti they co, my father invites them into the secret chamber."
"So in your family, who are the people of your father's generation that are important? How is their relationship with your uncle?"
"In my grandfather's generation, he married more than one woman and had quite a few children. Among them, four are notable. The first is my uncle, Lu Wangjiang. His relationship with my father is extrely bad because Grandpa initially planned to pass the position of Patriarch to my uncle, but later changed it to my dad."
The second is my second uncle, nad Lu Yucheng. He always wears a smile, but his relationship with my dad is average. He is very good at business; our family's current size is partly thanks to his efforts. He now manages many of the Lu Family's business relationships."
The third is my father, Lu Xingye. The fourth is my younger uncle, nad Lu Ruiyang. Lu Ruiyang has a very good relationship with my father. Many businesses are entrusted to him, and he is my father's right-hand man. One ti, during a clash between the Lu Family and the Kachin Rebel Army, he stepped in and resolved it."
That's it for the three uncles, no one else."
Lu Duo'er shook her head, looking at Ren Feng.
Ren Feng pondered for a mont. Lu Wangjiang appeared most suspicious; having contended for the position of Patriarch, he must harbor resentnt towards Lu Xingye.
Lu Yucheng's suspicion was moderate but not out of the question. If he were ambitious enough to control the Lu Family, removing Lu Xingye would be the best option, and he had the business capital to do it.
Lu Ruiyang seed to have the least suspicion, but whether or not he could be cleared would need further verification.
"Duo'er, are there others in your family?"
"If there are, it would be people of my generation, the children of my uncles," Lu Duo'er replied.
Ren Feng gently tapped the tabletop, sorting out the Lu Family's relations in his mind, then said, "Duo'er, let's go to the Lu Family."
...
Tianming City, Lu Family.
The Lu Family was located in the western part of the city. The entire plot of land there belonged to the Lu Family.
On that land was a collection of culturally rich, ancient-style buildings. The buildings were villa-like, with classical designs, amounting to six buildings in total, and combined into one unit.
The outermost parts were surrounded by walls and iron fences, and there were even many military weapons. From the outside to the inside stood many of the Lu Family's bodyguards, their expressions solemn and unmoving.
The Lu Family was on high alert today. Those buyers who ca for jade transactions weren't allowed in and had to wait at the hotel because today, a major event occurred at the Lu Family.
Within the Lu Family's main hall, many people sat in a circle.
"Third brother's incident today is going to throw the whole Lu Family into chaos," said a man sitting in the second chair on the left. He wore a dark green robe, his hair slicked back neatly to the right, appearing quite scholarly.
This was Lu Yucheng. Although there was no smile on his face, he still appeared calm.
"Those damned Kachin Rebel Army dogs deserve to die," exclaid a sowhat young-looking middle-aged man, slamming his right hand on the table, causing the teacups to rattle.
His face was filled with anger, his outfit extrely modern, and his chest heaved, showing lingering fury.
"Enough, the urgent matter at hand should be to choose a new Lu Family Patriarch. Otherwise, if the Lu Family falls into disarray, everything is finished," another person spoke calmly, their face ice-cold.
He looked sowhat aged, with gray hair on his head, yet his eyes were sharp, and his clothes resembled those of a previous dynasty's robe.
Lu Shiming's eldest son, Lu Wangjiang, who was also Lu Duo'er's uncle.
"Big brother, aren't you being too impatient? Shouldn't our priority now be avenging third brother?" Lu Ruiyang angrily interjected!
