Chapter 1066: Chapter 110: Where Is the Path to Immortality (72) – Maybe This Is What a Newbie Is Like

Despite being curious about how this 0.5 was measured—perhaps the maid sister intentionally added it.

Anyway, Luo Qiu didn’t ask… being able to quantify the value of the Transcendent gives an intuitive understanding.

Although such a value doesn’t truly represent the real strength of a Transcendent… let’s just consider it a fun toy.

These guys don’t seem to feel any tension.

Wang Hu frowned slightly but didn’t say too much. He came back to this place only to find some information from his bat-induced amnesia. But this place has already started to restore itself and is deserted, seemingly not leaving much information.

Wang Hu considered the next actions—whether to part ways with these three or act alone.

On the road, Luo Qiu casually conversed with Wang Hu, gaining quite a bit of satisfaction from understanding some of the rules of the Dao and Demon Realms and some local customs. Now it’s time to think about the transaction.

Indeed, Da Zhe has already brought him to this place, so the next step should be to find the master—to collect the transaction payment.

The club… or rather, the altar is very generous when allowing Luo Qiu to collect the payment—without any need to purchase the master’s intelligence, Luo Qiu can somehow feel the direction where he can encounter this master.

Luo Qiu followed the feeling in his heart and looked towards a certain direction.

But suddenly Da Zhe said, “Boss, it seems there is someone over there!”

Everyone looked over—it was the edge of a slope by the stone forest, and a figure slowly emerged from the slope edge—this person seemed to be injured and when reaching the edge, they rolled down the slope.

The distance wasn’t very far, and simple eyesight could vaguely discern this person’s appearance… seemed to be an old man.

Wang Hu’s expression slightly changed, and without saying a word, he rushed forward, easily jumping to the bottom of the slope, catching the falling old man.

Wang Hu finally placed the person on the ground and observed him, frowning deeply.

Luo Qiu led the maid and Da Zhe over, curiously asking, “Mr. Wang Hu, do you know this old man?”

Wang Hu nodded, saying solemnly, “This is the president of the Shenzhou Dao Realm’s Daoist Magic Association, the sect master of Kunlun, Daoist Bai Jie. But… what has he encountered to be injured so badly?”

Luo Qiu looked at the old man… Daoist Bai Jie, whose shirt was gone and had many sharp blade wounds on his exposed upper body.

Wang Hu frowned and took out a Vermilion Fruit he kept for emergencies, peeled it, and directly held it in his hand, letting its juice drip into Daoist Bai Jie’s lips, seeping into his mouth.

Afterward, Wang Hu turned his palm and directly slapped it onto Daoist Bai Jie’s chest. After a while, Daoist Bai Jie slightly frowned and slowly opened his eyes.

Daoist Bai Jie’s eyes showed confusion upon opening. His gaze swept around, brightening slightly upon seeing Wang Hu, as if trying to say something.

Wang Hu then said, “Daoist Baijie, do you recognize me? I am Wang Hu, a guard beside Prince Baihu Huang Baifu!”

Daoist Baijie coughed twice, as if trying to sit up. Wang Hu quickly helped him up, and Baijie noticed Wang Hu’s right arm was gone… a hint of shock flashed in Daoist Bai Jie’s eyes.

Getting up was just to buffer time for thinking—this was no ordinary Wang Hu, it was clearly Prince Baihu Huang Baifu himself.

But as the saying goes, an old man turns wise, Daoist Bai Jie quickly understood Huang Baifu’s intention—he didn’t want to reveal his identity… it was obviously related to the young men surrounding him.

Daoist Bai Jie then looked up and examined the two men and one woman beside Huang Baifu.

Luo Qiu and Da Zhe were nothing special, typical Eastern faces—and upon seeing the maid Miss, Daoist Bai Jie visibly reacted… he hadn’t left the Divine Land for a long time, but he had seen the Persian Hu people from the Western Regions in the past.

Central Earth has never had people from Western Regions… but how did this person from outside the Western Regions arrive?

“Wang Hu… I remember now, the little guy beside Prince Huang.” Daoist Bai Jie nodded, “You’ve grown so tall.”

Wang Hu gritted his teeth, cursing inwardly, this old man really dared to take advantage, “President Bai Jie, now is not the time to ‘reminisce’! Tell us your situation… after relocating, what did you encounter?”

Daoist Bai Jie pondered for a moment, then glanced at Luo Qiu and the others before slowly asking, “Who are these people?”

“This is Boss Luo; the other two are his employees. Boss Luo has helped Wang Hu before,” Wang Hu casually replied, “We entered here afterward. Boss Luo is not familiar with the Dao and Demon Realms.”

Though simple words, enough for Daoist Bai Jie to understand Huang Baifu’s intended message.

These three are protected by Huang Baifu, an opportunity coincidence amid Divine Land’s Transcendent new faces—Daoist Bai Jie knew that some did indeed gain the cultivation method from city folk.

Daoist Bai Jie nodded and sighed, “This story is long…”

Then, Daoist Bai Jie briefly recounted encountering the opposition Demon Association, Cang Jinshui, and Ming Tus Mountain, later meeting the terrifying Gaia, the squads nearly obliterated, with only a few lucky ones escaping, and finally Daoist Bai Jie staying behind to confront alone.

“… After slaying those six, my old bones couldn’t endure any longer.” Daoist Bai Jie lamented, “If they didn’t suddenly stop, I’d be doomed too.”

“Unexpectedly, the Daoist also met that thing.” Wang Hu sighed—feeling more horror in his heart!

That thing wasn’t just one!

Even more unexpectedly, during his absence, the Shenzhou Dao and Demon Association suffered a devastating hit, with only a few lucky ones escaping!

“Daoist Bai Jie risked everything, daringly facing danger to bury our clan’s corpses.” Wang Hu inhaled deeply, “I owe you a debt… though treacherous here, rest assured, Daoist, I will protect you at all costs, even if risking my life.”

“You’re too kind.” Daoist Bai Jie shook his head.

Although Prince Baihu Huang Baifu is hailed as the most outstanding descendant of the White Tiger Clan in hundreds of years, in parison, he’s likely only on par with myself… I almost lost my life too.

“Daoist, can you describe the situation when you encountered that enemy again?” Luo Qiu suddenly asked.

Daoist Baijie was taken aback but did not refuse, saying: “They called themselves Gaia, seemingly molded from the same template, with shapeshifting bodies, hands that can fire terrifying energy in cannon-like fashion, and they possess formidable melee capabilities.”

“Gaia?” the voice speaking now was the club’s maid.

Daoist Baijie promptly asked, “Miss, do you know anything?”

The maid replied indifferently, “I’m just curious about this self-claim. In ancient Greek mythology, Gaia is the Earth Goddess, mother of all gods, said to be the first primordial god born from chaos. The battle automatons the Daoist describes using the name Gaia naturally piques one’s curiosity.”

Daoist Baijie nodded, “What the young lady mentioned, I have also considered. However, the Western pantheons differ from our Divine Land’s system. Legends say that in ancient times, the Divine Land’s godly system and other global systems had secret agreements, governing separately yet independently… If this Gaia is truly from outside the Divine System, the implications are indeed worrying.”

You Ye smiled slightly, “Yet it could also be a coincidence. After all, the Mother Earth Gaia and the type of bat weapons the Daoist talks about are vastly different… Also, in Western academia, Gaia is not just associated with the Mother Earth theory.”

“A single name can have so many meanings?” Da Zhe asked with a bewildered expression.

“Indeed.” Luo Qiu smiled faintly and said, “In Britain, a scientist proposed something called the Gaia Hypothesis… a plex system formed between the living and non-living parts of the world, also known as Gaia Consciousness, a pure collective consciousness of all living creatures.”

“Hmm… oh… so that’s how it is…” After Da Zhe’s mind became tangled, he straightforwardly asked, “By the way, Boss, do you still want the Vermilion Fruit?”

“You keep it for yourself.” Luo Qiu chuckled.

Da Zhe shrugged… Unable to prehend, feeling hopeless, what else to do, go back and read more books?

“Gaia Consciousness…” Daoist Baijie suddenly said, “Speaking of which, these entities claim they’re Gaia, yet their movements are unified, coordinating impeccably with each other, seemingly sharing perceptions, quite like they are using a single consciousness.”

You Ye calmly stated, “This interpretation is a bit shallow. Gaia Consciousness isn’t such a trivial concept. The bat automatons the Daoist encountered might just be controlled by an intelligent system. Of course, to understand truly, we’d need to get a sample and study it.”

Wang Hu, having seen the prowess of this blonde woman, shook his head secretly, noting how she didn’t show respect to anyone, challenging everything, ignoring even the actual bigwigs within the Dao Association… perhaps this is the fearlessness of the new generation, akin to a young calf unafraid of the tiger.

Daoist Baijie seemed unfazed, forted, “Talents emerge in every generation, if the young lady can uncover something, it would indeed be a blessing for the Divine Land. Even more so, if she can find a way to deal with these bat automatons, the merit would be boundless!”

This old man is quite nice… Da Zhe glanced around, tossed a Vermilion Fruit, which he was using as a snack, to Daoist Baijie—this thing supposedly has health benefits.

Wang Hu ate several spiked ones, but seemingly hadn’t reacted yet?

“These Vermilion Fruits, freshly picked, could it be…” Daoist Baijie’s eyebrows furrowed—Dao and Demon creatures attracted Gaia after touching the Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures in this area, suffering heavy casualties!

“They indeed were just picked, is there a problem, Daoist?” Wang Hu asked, puzzled.

Daoist Baijie hurriedly asked, “How long ago did you pick them?”

“About an hour or so?” Da Zhe answered subsequently.

Daoist Baijie furrowed his brows, “It shouldn’t be… but after we collected the Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures here, Gaia came shortly after… why haven’t these affected you?”

“Daoist, could you provide more details, what did Gaia say upon appearing?” Luo Qiu suddenly inquired thoughtfully.

Daoist Baijie recalled, “‘Prototype Treasury Administrator Gaia, at your service, esteemed subscriber’… likely said something like that. Before this, we thought this place might be linked to ‘that place.'”

“That place?” Wang Hu was startled, then seemed to realize something, exclaimed in astonishment, “The place claimed to sell anything, a supremely mysterious place?”

Daoist Baijie nodded and described past occurrences and warnings associated with that location—the tale of a huge powerful monster, the Eight-tail Heavenly Fox transforming into a human from the demon world, a legend even young Wang Hu had heard about.

Daoist Baijie sighed, “This place is bizarre, with treasures rarely seen for centuries appearing openly… if that place truly claims to sell anything, it wouldn’t be surprising either.”

Wang Hu’s expression instantly grew serious.

However, listening to Daoist Baijie’s conjecture, Luo Qiu’s expression turned slightly peculiar… hmm, this misunderstanding seems rather big, should it be clarified?

However… based on Daoist Baijie’s description of Gaia’s arrival, the tone did indeed give Luo Qiu a strong sense of déjà vu.

“What does Centennial Tribulation Leader plan to do now?” Wang Hu asked, furrowing his brows.

Daoist Baijie replied, “I encountered a junior named Jiang Zuo, who narrowly escaped disaster. Unfortunately, he ran into several Gaia again later, I had to send him away… I aim to find that youngster, he shouldn’t be left in a trap.”

Wang Hu seemed hesitant… if it had been his White Tiger Clan’s member sent away, he would have immediately agreed to join the search, but this involved someone from the Dao Association’s side.

Seeing Wang Hu’s thought process, Daoist Baijie sighed, slowly stood up, “I roughly remember the location beneath Ming Tus Mountain, this place is perilous, it would be better for you to lead these people to Ming Tus Mountain, maybe there you might find a way to leave.”

Wang Hu frowned, appearing conflicted.

“Speaking of… is that who you call Gaia?” Unexpectedly, Da Zhe pointed towards the sky.

Wang Hu and Daoist Baijie looked up simultaneously, their faces dramatically changing!

In the sky above, what they saw was a crowd of… countless Gaia, like bats emerging from cliff caves, a number daunting enough to drive Wang Hu and Daoist Baijie to despair!

Luo Qiu then curiously pressed the button on the side of his glasses’ black frame.

A series of numbers rapidly refreshed on the lenses—all showing the same figure: eight million.
