Chapter 1242: Chapter 83: Younger Brother

The fatigue was always hard to shake off, but luckily, nearing dusk, my spirits gradually lifted.

As my fingers finally rested on the black keys, the sound of the last note lingered in the room for several seconds before gradually fading away, leaving only the gray-black twilight through the heavy curtains.

Zhong Luoyue lowered her head, transitioning from a half-asleep, half-awake state to plete sobriety.

Click—the lights turned on.

The room door opened, and Queen Elizabeth, wearing a white dress, entered with a basket in her hands, barefoot.

“You’re awake.” Queen Elizabeth said with a cheerful smile.

She was probably the kind of woman that most men would pursue relentlessly…if she wasn’t a bloodsucker.

Like Snow White, she looked like someone with albinism due to congenital defects from long-term malnutrition, her hair almost entirely white.

This characteristic was fixed; even after she broke her fast and drank fresh human blood, she showed no improvement…but Elizabeth, with her white hair and white eyebrows, was so different in Zhong Luoyue’s eyes, like a piece of art. As a fellow woman, she couldn’t help but marvel at this extreme beauty.

Modern times aren’t like the Medieval era or even earlier, where white hair and eyebrows wouldn’t be considered monstrous, rather, some people with special interests might adore them.

If Queen Elizabeth’s ears were a bit sharp, she might be considered a genuine earthly spirit.

On my last visit to Zhong Family Mansion, I only crossed paths once with Elder Young Master Zhong. My brother has been obsessed ever since…If it had been before going to South America, given the family’s stability and the various open and hidden battles among the two sons and one daughter of the Zhong family, Zhong Luoyue might have accepted it, exchanging for more benefits from her brother.

But she had already transformed into a bloodsucker, and now her heart no longer harbored thoughts of family conflicts. Instead, she pondered how to define the identity between humans and bloodsuckers.

Perhaps a century, perhaps hundreds of years later, today’s worries would seem laughable…but it had only been a few months since her transformation into a bloodsucker; how could she let go so easily?

There’s a rumor that the holder of The Burning Black Card could find a mysterious place where you could buy anything you wished for…I wonder if it’s possible to buy a human identity back?

The last few months of panionship made Elizabeth spare no effort in teaching Zhong Luoyue many things about the Vampire Clan—this was essentially what every vampire elder needed to pass on to their offspring.

Unfortunately, Zhong Luoyue’s elder had died in the underground palace of God of Gamblers Manor, so the responsibility of guidance naturally fell on Elizabeth.

Thinking about turning back into a human left Zhong Luoyue disheartened…because Elizabeth had already mentioned that while humans could be transformed into bloodsuckers, a bloodsucker turning back into a human was absolutely impossible.

It’s like a chick hatching from an egg, and once out, it couldn’t turn back into an egg…

At this moment, Elizabeth was taking several bottles of various blood types from the insulated cooler in the basket…these blood types were rare, ones Zhong Luoyue had surreptitiously procured nationwide using her financial resources and influence during this period.

Soon, Elizabeth brought a crystal cup to Zhong Luoyue.

Already accustomed to the taste of blood, Zhong Luoyue drinking the blood was torn between resisting the vampire traits that instinctively emerged.

To a bloodsucker, Zhong Luoyue was like a newborn baby, needing care…she often felt as if she were being fed, and Elizabeth would always urge her to drink enough blood three times a day.

“Today’s taste seems a bit different.”

After wiping off the blood from her lips with a handkerchief, Zhong Luoyue felt a slight change in her body.

Elizabeth smiled, “Because starting today, you can appropriately consume mixed blood. This is a method passed down in the Vampire Clan, bining two or more rare blood types, it can e closer to the effect of pure blood, and it can also reduce the innate toxins of rare blood types…The purity of these rare blood types you found is very high, so before you plete your first transformation, you shouldn’t need to use the first Purification Elixir. Avoiding the use of Purification Elixir before the first transformation can maximize your potential and pleting the first transformation, you might at least reach the status of an aristocrat.”

Duke, Marquis, Earl, Viscount, Baron…and then Vampire Nobility.

Freshly transformed bloodsuckers were only newborns, only after undergoing the first transformation could they bee true bloodsuckers, but most were merely moners among bloodsuckers. pleting the second transformation could attain noble status. Achieving aristocracy after one transformation indicates an elite member of the Vampire Clan.

Thinking of the knowledge acquired during these days, Zhong Luoyue revealed a genuine smile…apparently the emotional investment in Elizabeth during this time wasn’t in vain.

“But during your first transformation, it’s best not to do it here.” Elizabeth suddenly said.

Zhong Luoyue nodded.

There was no feeling when still ordinary, but recently there was increasingly a sense of restlessness…everywhere in the capital seemed pervasive with a pressure weighing down on her, making her feel unfortable, as if trapped in swamp.

Especially in Zhong Family Mansion, this feeling was even clearer, moving to Xiangshan Villa only slightly improved it.

According to Elizabeth, the entirety of the capital’s underground seemed to contain an enormous magic circle, embodying an extraordinarily terrifying force…this force couldn’t pare even with the ancient magic circles used in the Holy Blood Ceremony, held once every ten years by the Vampire Thirteen Clans.

The huge magic circle hidden beneath the capital seemed to possess reconnaissance, suppression of evil, and other functions…so although they hid in Xiangshan Villa, ordinarily they dared not relax even a bit and tried to restrain their vampire powers.

“I’ve almost arranged everything.” Zhong Luoyue grasped Elizabeth’s hand, letting her sit beside her, like whispering between confidantes, “In a few days, we’ll leave here, first to the Aegean Sea, then directly to Britain.”

Elizabeth blinked, having learned about Zhong Luoyue’s family during this time, knowing that the Zhong family was an apex tomb-robbing family of the mortal world, “But leaving like this, is it okay?”

Zhong Luoyue laughed, “I graduated from a school in Britain, and this time, the reason is to visit my Alma Mater, and incidentally make some investments there. There’s also an event, it’s our family’s turn to host this time, and I’ve chosen Britain as the venue, no one can say anything.”

“What event?” Elizabeth asked curiously.

Zhong Luoyue didn’t conceal, “World Gambling Championships. The last time, my pany representative won the championship, so according to the rules, my pany gets to host this time.”

Elizabeth, although often reduces consumption by sleeping, would get informed on external matters every time she woke, especially concerning Tu Shenyi, the God of Gamblers—an essential figure for crafting ‘True Blood’ among the seven houses privately.

“No wonder you want to find Tu Shenyi.” Elizabeth nodded. “He was universally recognized as the God of Gamblers before his retirement; it seems you originally planned to win this year’s gambling tournament again.”

Zhong Luoyue replied, “Tu Shenyi had already retired and would not participate in any form of petition. However, promises can change anytime. Plus, the place where Tu Shenyi retired happens to be the territory of one of my rivals. If I don’t go to invite Tu Shenyi, she will go…”

Saying this, Zhong Luoyue shook her head. If she had known that this plan to invite the God of Gamblers out of retirement would eventually turn her into a non-human, Zhong Luoyue would never have gone out… Although being a vampire endows her with abilities far beyond human limits, she is well aware of her predicament.

From what Elizabeth told her about the vastness of the Thirteen Clans, Zhong Luoyue truly felt the danger she was in… Even if she seems powerful to humans, there are far more powerful vampires in the clans, and despite this strength, they still have to hide. This makes it clear how much this mighty non-human race fears humans.

She went from being a well-regarded lady in the human world to being a newborn vampire among the thirteen clans, destined to be an obedient ‘servant’ for the countless adult vampires, an unenviable fate that she certainly did not wish for…

Now that it has bee an inevitability, she can only plan carefully for her future.

As for Elizabeth, initially she served as her guide. After passing through the initial stages, Zhong Luoyue would have to consider whether it’s worth continuing to invest in her.

From Elizabeth’s talk about herself, Zhong Luoyue knew that Elizabeth might be just a ‘child’ in the vampire world, and was outside the core of the Thirteen Clans. She was also quite reclusive, having spent most of her time asleep since her birth, and she had almost no friends in the vampire world, making her a lone wolf…

“Is your rival the woman beside Brother Luo Qiu?”

While pondering her future, Zhong Luoyue nodded, “In fact, calling her a rival is not entirely accurate; it’s just there are some business conflicts. She’s similar in age to me, and we graduated from the same alma mater, often being pared by others. Rather than calling it fate, ‘karmic connection’ is more fitting.”

Elizabeth obviously did not care about these matters; she just lowered her head, somewhat shyly, saying, “I see… I’m curious if Brother Luo Qiu would e then…”

This voice was quiet, like a murmur, but Zhong Luoyue could hear it, and hearing it inevitably caused a pang in her stomach.

In front of such powerful forces, she felt she was truly just a baby.

Best not to meet…

After the ceremony, Ren Ziling drove Leng Feng to his hotel.

That night, Officer Ma escaped from the tormenting hell of a case, bringing his heavily pregnant Mrs. Ma along, to attend this small gathering.

There weren’t many people, and they were all acquaintances. After Officer Ma drank a bit with Leng Feng, he started plaining bitterly, resulting in Mrs. Ma rolling her eyes frequently.

After dinner, Officer Ma was already drunk, and with Mrs. Ma’s pregnancy being inconvenient, Ren Ziling decided to send them home first, then let Luo Qiu acpany Leng Feng back to the hotel.

Perhaps people who e from the military have terrifying drinking capacities.

After returning to the hotel, Leng Feng seemed pletely fine, directly taking Luo Qiu to the hotel gym to fiercely push the treadmill.

Leng Feng, leading soldiers, often engaged in outdoor physical training, adjusted the treadmill speed to advanced, showing no sign of struggle.

Luo Qiu calculated the time and difficulty, not increasing the speed, running steadily until he naturally stopped, entirely using his defined 5.5 capability to run, soon sweating profusely.

“Kid, your stamina is impressive, keeping this pace with me for so long, something only new recruits after six months of training can do!”

“Exercise regularly going forward.” Luo Qiu replied with a slight smile.

Leng Feng was quite satisfied actually, feeling that Luo Qiu, though scholarly, wasn’t just a stuffed shirt, and did maintain his physical fitness well.

“You head back first.” Leng Feng wiped his sweat. “e by tomorrow. Later, I’ve got an old friend to meet, not suitable for you to see.”

“Alright.” Luo Qiu nodded, not asking who it was, he then brought Leng Feng a bottle of water, greeted him, and left the gym.

Once Luo Qiu left, Leng Feng continued running on the treadmill.

Soon a man in his early thirties came onto the treadmill beside him, wearing a suit though now with the jacket off, only in a white shirt, rolling up sleeves ready to run.

About an hour later, Leng Feng stopped, dissatisfied, “I ran for half an hour first; you ran for half an hour after, I reckon you win.”

The man on the treadmill directly turned off the machine, angrily glancing at Leng Feng, “Never met someone as shameless as you.”

Leng Feng laughed twice, and both went to sit in a corner of the gym.

In such a gym part of a hotel, there weren’t many visitors; the surroundings were now empty, perfect for a chat.

“Back for a few days this time?”

“Four or five days or so.” Leng Feng casually said. “Oh right, has anyone approached you these days?”

The man thought for a while, shook his head, “Are you referring to that woman named Ren you asked me to look after last time?”

Leng Feng responded seriously, “That is my older brother’s widow; she’s the only sister-in-law I have. I’ll be going on a secret mission soon, unsure of how long I’ll be gone. Anyway, you’re idle around here…”

“What do you mean idle around here?” The man smiled bitterly, “My younger brother has gone missing, and the old man at home threw a big tantrum; I’m not in a fortable position now.”

“Your brother?” Leng Feng paused, “Wang Yuechuan, that one…”
