Chapter 786: Chapter 30: Demons Run Wild
If there is no response, it might immediately arouse the other’s suspicion.
Everyone looked at the walkie-talkie placed on the water bar’s counter, silent, as if afraid that even the slightest sound would draw attention.
Song Haoran squinted his eyes slightly, suddenly reached out and grabbed Bucky’s shoulder, “I’ll say a sentence, and you repeat it, got it?”
“I’ll cooperate…” Bucky nodded… Oni had kept the gun pointed at his back the entire time.
Bucky let out a sigh, trying to steady his voice, then quickly picked up the walkie-talkie and said loudly, “Received, received, I’m on my way.”
“You’re not Batu? Who are you?” The voice on the walkie-talkie suddenly shouted in anger.
However, another voice came through the walkie-talkie at this moment… Roger’s voice, “Bucky? Why is it you? Where’s Batu?”
Bucky glanced at Song Haoran, who quickly whispered something in his ear, then he repeated, “Hey, Roger, your guy fell into a cesspit and can’t get out. What did you guys eat before the action, pooping something so stinky?”
Roger quietly considered for a moment, then said, “Where are you guys now?”
“The bar on the left side of the third-floor corridor, I’m hungry, looking for something to eat… Oh, your subordinate’s out, I’ll let him talk to you.”
At this moment, Oni took a few steps, making audible footsteps.
“No need… Bucky, you and Batu go up the left staircase, take down the big fish, then e join me. OVER!”
“Received, received, heading over now.” Bucky finally turned off the walkie-talkie, then looked at Song Haoran with lingering fear and said with a bitter smile, “Are you satisfied now?”
Oni behind him, however, looked suspiciously, “Are you really the police’s undercover?”
Bucky seized the opportunity, “If I’m not, why would I help you? Wouldn’t it be easier to directly inform Roger?”
Oni sneered, “Because you’re afraid of dying!”
Don’t overextend the conversation, hey!!
Bucky glared at Oni angrily before speaking with an innocent face, “Believe it or not, I really don’t want to be involved in any of Roger’s actions. This time he set the conditions that forced the government to release a few of us. In fact, I prefer staying in prison rather than outside. Inside, the Warden and I are like emperors!”
“Is that so? But that’s just your side of the story, right?” Oni sneered again, pletely doubting Bucky’s words, yet he couldn’t figure out why the strategist wanted to bring this guy along.
Unexpectedly, Dr. Ferenc suddenly said, “We must go rescue Mr. Billy! We absolutely cannot let him fall into the hands of the bandits!”
Song Haoran, however, responded calmly, “Doctor, we’re barely keeping ourselves safe; I’m afraid we don’t have the energy to rescue others. Let me get you out first. Xiao Li, take the Doctor, and while the bandits are distracted, let’s leave here.”
“You can’t do this! You must save him! You must go rescue Mr. Billy!”
But the old Doctor, still shouting, couldn’t break free from Lluvia’s grip, trying to persuade everyone while being dragged away.
Before leaving, Boss Luo casually picked up the pen and notepad placed by the bar. Although Song Haoran found Luo Qiu’s action strange, he didn’t ask further questions.
Then everyone left the water bar, with Oni being the only one who stayed behind. But not long after, he caught up with the group and quietly gestured to Song Haoran.
Bucky, however, remembered the unconscious Batu who wasn’t brought out, thinking that Batu was probably secretly disposed of — although killing bandits in a shootout is understandable. However, in situations where a live apprehension has been made, disposing of someone seems unlike police style…
Are these guys really government people?
Bang bang — bang bang —!
Suddenly, several gunshots rang out. They didn’t know if it was Roger firing bullets for fun, the bandits chasing after Mr. Billy shooting, or resistance from Billy’s side. Nonetheless, the area Song Haoran mentioned for evacuation was already ahead.
Song Haoran opened the bathroom window, quickly glanced below, and saw at least seven police cars parked on the street, with officers erecting riot shields, forming a human wall, fully encircling the place.
“Once you get down from here, you’ll be safe.” Song Haoran turned and smiled, “But climbing down might be a bit difficult for a lady. What a pity for such a beautiful dress.”
You Ye, however, hesitated looking at the sewer beside them… Do they really have to climb down in such an unbeing manner? But since the Master chose to make contact with Song Haoran this way, she could only continue acting as an ordinary person.
Even though it broke her heart a bit, to better fit the scenario, the maid directly tore her skirt, creating a slit for easier movement.
In a split second, a glimpse of white seemed to flash, but it vanished as Luo Qiu had already taken off his coat and wrapped it around You Ye’s waist.
“I’ll get you another one when we’re back,” the Boss whispered in the maid’s ear, then seemed to recall something, glancing at Lluvia guarding the door, and added, “A unique one.”
Following the ‘ladies first’ principle, Luo Qiu helped You Ye onto the window ledge, reaching for the outer wall’s drainage pipe. As they were only on the second floor, it was relatively easy to slide down to the ground.
This was followed by Dr. Ferenc.
He stopped protesting, as Song Haoran had promised that the three of them wouldn’t just leave, but would remain there because their task wasn’t done yet. Dr. Ferenc, repeatedly stressing, hoped Song Haoran could also rescue Mr. Billy.
“Your turn.” Lastly, Song Haoran addressed Luo Qiu.
Boss Luo suddenly asked, “Will we have a chance to meet again?”
Song Haoran was taken aback, then smiled, “Haven’t we already met twice in the past few days?”
Luo Qiu also smiled, then swiftly produced a notepad and pen.
He quickly wrote an address on the paper, handed it to Song Haoran, and said, “This is where I’m staying now, if it’s safe, I hope you can visit me. After all your help, please allow me to properly thank you, even if it’s just for dinner.”
Seeing the address Luo Qiu wrote, Song Haoran was surprised after a glance, “It’s like you were ready to give me your address long ago?”
“Since I wouldn’t know how to find you otherwise, I could only hope you’d e find me,” Luo Qiu said casually.
Song Haoran accepted the address with a charming smile, “If you can serve authentic braised lion’s head, that’d be even better!”
“Absolutely.”
Then Luo Qiu climbed down through the small drainage pipe.
Only after watching Luo Qiu land, did Song Haoran finally look away upon seeing the police approach him. He then glanced at Lluvia and Oni, and the group quickly left with Bucky.
…
Finally got the address delivered… Song Haoran should e, right?
Luo Qiu wore a faint smile on his face.
Dr. Ferenc was anxiously staring at the top of the theater, his face full of gloom. The maid passed silently by the old doctor, her hand subtly brushing his clothes, slipping a card into Dr. Ferenc’s pocket.
The maid gave her master a slight, knowing smile.
Luo Qiu wore a harmless smile, as they walked past the weling police officers without a pause… The police, however, could only see Dr. Ferenc.
Wha… what just happened? Ferenc was startled, realizing the young couple had vanished.
“You’re Dr. Ferenc, right?” A middle-ranking officer looked at Dr. Ferenc with a hint of respect.
The doctor’s expression was grim, and he urgently said, “Party Leader Billy is also inside, you better give your best effort!”
What! Not just the Senate Speaker, but now also the Party Leader?
The chief quickly reported the news upwards—after all, he was a Party Leader. With the presidential changeover approaching, who can say if Mr. Billy’s government might not be the next to lead?
Dr. Ferenc was then taken to a secure area to wait.
He was reluctant to leave, staring from a distance at the theater surrounded by heavy troops, muttering to himself, “Ever since that great explosion years ago, my research was shelved… The country doubts my capabilities, never willing to fund my research again. Mr. Billy finally agreed to support me this time, even buying foreign technology for me… Please, don’t let anything happen!”
Do you… wish to make your wish e true?
Anything at all is possible.
Something was whispering, softly murmuring in Dr. Ferenc’s ear, sending a shiver through his heart.
…
…
“Haven’t you caught him yet? Roger, it seems your subordinates are quite average.” Crocodile shook his head in disappointment in the VIP room.
Roger responded calmly, “They can’t escape, and with Bucky involved, I’m confident they’ll catch this big fish soon. But it’s surprising, besides the Senate Speaker, a Party Leader was also at this concert… Turns out Bucky is quite the lucky guy, delivering such a big surprise upon arrival.”
“A lucky bastard.” Crocodile shook his head, then gravely continued scrutinizing the document Roger had taken out earlier.
That powerful country, capable of challenging the global superpower around WWII, is now dissolved. But what Roger found—the legacy left before its dissolution.
Nuclear weapons are terrifying things… they are the hard standard for determining a country’s strength.
Since seeing these documents, Doflamingo and Moria have remained silent, their faces dark and dreadful, perhaps shocked that Roger managed to find such a terrifying thing.
Suddenly, Doflamingo let out a breath and smirked, “So that’s your leverage? Very well! Roger, count me in, whatever you’re planning!”
“I knew you’d agree… What about Moria?” Roger looked at Moria sitting on Jose.
This guy wore a twisted smile, barely containing his excitement. He pulled the trigger of the gun pressed against Jose’s forehead, the bullet piercing Jose’s head as Moria stood up in Jose’s weakening collapse, “I have no reason not to participate!”
“And Crocodile?” Roger nodded in satisfaction, turning towards Crocodile.
Crocodile shrugged casually, “We’re only missing Bucky’s opinion now… But I think we can ignore what he thinks. He wouldn’t dare say no.”
“Hahaha!!” Roger laughed loudly, “Then… let’s take the first real step towards overthrowing the current regime!”
Doflamingo and the others looked at Roger, their expressions confirming their suspicions… This guy really intends to launch a coup!
And not in some chaotic small African country, but a major country in South America!
A real madman!
Roger clapped his hands, calling for the Senate Speaker to be brought out. He looked at the elderly man with white hair, who was trembling in terror, with an amused smile, “I’ve changed my mind. Starting now, within thirty minutes, have the President and the entire Cabinet appear before me. I want direct negotiations with the President! As usual, for every minute late, I kill one person! Starting with you!”
“B-but… how can we gather that many people in thirty minutes!” The Senate Speaker trembled.
“Oh? Aren’t they supposed to be discussing the removal of ‘UPP’ right now? They should already be gathered, right? Besides, wouldn’t it be convenient for them to all e over?” Roger sneered.
The Senate Speaker’s eyes widened.
In an instant, he seemed to realize something… Could the terms for the troop withdrawal only be a lure, with the real goal being to gather the nation’s power center?
Roger had someone shove a phone into the Senate Speaker’s hand, then glanced at his watch, “Counting down starts now, I hope you can be punctual.”
The old man trembled, feeling as if the phone weighed ten kilograms like a dumbbell, unbearably heavy…
…
…
“Minister!! The approximate position of all the criminals has been confirmed, and Chief Jose is dead. The bandits demand that His Excellency the President and the Cabinet ministers appear within thirty minutes, the situation is dire!”
In the mand vehicle, the security minister, with a serious expression, wiped sweat from his brow, gritted his teeth, and said, “Storm Squad, go! The primary objective, is to rescue the Senate Speaker! Send orders to Trojan to create opportunities!”
“Understood!” The technician quickly pressed the mic button, “Storm Squad, get ready to engage!”
…
That night, a massive traffic jam paralyzed Rio, with the city’s vibrance almost shaking with all the honking car horns.
After fleeing the hospital, Caroline dazedly climbed into a taxi, her mind in turmoil.
Caught in the massive gridlock, Caroline grew even more impatient, “Driver, what’s going on up ahead?”
The driver looked back at his female passenger in surprise, “You don’t know? There’s a major hostage situation at the theater, many important people were taken by bandits. They even want to negotiate with the government, demanding the President to go to the scene in person! I’ve had my radio on, it’s all they’ve been talking about!”
Caroline was taken aback; she hadn’t been listening to the radio until now. As she listened, her expression turned to one of shock.
What’s happening to this city tonight?
The dangerous slums aren’t safe, but the wealthiest areas have also bee so perilous?
