Chapter 881: Chapter 125: Forget Worry, Three Lives (8)
Luo Qiu lifted the emblem from Amunst’s hands and gave it a closer look.
The diamond-shaped emblem had a three-dimensional feel, with a unique insignia etched on it, carrying a faint yet distinctly balanced and harmonious flow of energy.
“Why give it to me?” Luo Qiu put down the so-called legacy key and looked into Amunst’s bloodshot eyes, swollen from pain.
Without the trigger of a transaction, Luo Qiu was well aware—this was his first encounter with something akin to a transaction outside his role as a proprietor.
Amunst weakly said, “Besides you… I couldn’t possibly wait for anyone else… Perhaps you’re a good person, or perhaps… perhaps you’re a bad one… but to me… you, you are the only one… I, I can only entrust you… my last… my final wish… I won’t, won’t let you work for nothing… This key… can bring… a chance for the inheritance of an Ancient Round Table Knight…”
Luo Qiu glanced at the inheritance key once more.
Amunst struggled to breathe, “Since… since my departure… My former seat has remained… vacant… over the years… the trial hasn’t yet been pleted… But it, it can offer one… one unofficial entry… If, if your luck and strength are sufficient… you can also, also obtain its power…”
So, this is essentially a backdoor pass. Suppose the Twelve Round Table Paladins have a strict organization, ensuring that all knights inheriting the name of the Twelve Paladins are tightly controlled, this thing can bypass such control, bringing the bearer into the secret realm behind the key, acquiring the qualification equivalent to a trial candidate with legacy rights.
Luo Qiu shook his head, “Old man, honestly, such an opportunity is of no use to me… But I am willing to try to help you. What do you want me to do? Just kill you now?”
Amunst gazed into Luo Qiu’s eyes and slowly said, “Young life… our encounter is a kind of fate… The clarity in your eyes reminds me of the gaze of the Goddess of Justice… Perhaps, perhaps you won’t bee a knight… but, but you will surely be a gentleman… In you… I feel the noble quality of humility and courtesy… You, you are a person who keeps promises…”
Luo Qiu calmly said, “Old man, flattering someone isn’t very good behavior. What do you want me to do? You haven’t clarified yet.”
Amunst replied, “I haven’t misjudged… I wish, wish you could find my granddaughter… Queen Elizabeth. She, she’s a half-blood bloodsucker and human… she’s in pain… if she cannot overe this pain… please, please help her, help her face death as a human.”
Luo Qiu was silent for a moment, under Amunst’s expectant and anxious gaze, “In my view, no matter the life form, it is proof of living. Just being fixated on a particular identity, even at the expense of choosing death… why make such a choice?”
Amunst opened his mouth suddenly but couldn’t speak.
Luo Qiu added, “Are you choosing on behalf of your granddaughter?”
Amunst’s breathing suddenly became rapid.
Luo Qiu finally asked, “What is her choice?”
Amunst’s eyes darkened, his grip on the legacy key loosened gradually, as if all his strength had been exhausted at once.
Amunst’s gaze became instantly blurred, seemingly experiencing auditory hallucinations, hearing continuous calls, hearing Queen Elizabeth’s voice… hearing her repeatedly calling: Grandpa.
Amunst suddenly seized Luo Qiu’s palm tightly, even as the zombies devoured his body, enduring endless bites, tears now blurred his vision.
“Please, let her live, I want her to live, I just want her to live.” Amunst grasped Luo Qiu’s palm and suddenly exerted force, allowing his battered body to sit up.
His eyes opened dimly, the brilliance inside revealing the final moment of a burning candle, alive.
“Let her! Survive! Survive—!”
Roaring.
Luo Qiu didn’t blink, his lips parted slightly but remained silent, facing Amunst directly. The old man’s body seemed to have petrified, motionless—he even held his breath.
“This is…” Luo Qiu softly said, “This is, your choice.”
Amunst still did not move, his hand gripped like a vice, tightly holding Luo Qiu’s palm, but Luo Qiu knew that this old man’s life had reached its end.
Luo Qiu pried Amunst’s fingers apart, then laid his body flat, observing Amunst’s wide-open eyes, his mouth left agape after the roar, retrieving the necklace with the legacy key from his body.
In his palm, the necklace wrapped around his hand twice. Luo Qiu clenched his hand, then looked toward Amunst, softly saying, “I accept it.”
After speaking, Luo Qiu brushed his palm over Amunst’s eyes, allowing them to close. Luo Qiu’s palm remained pressed against Amunst’s eyes, not letting go.
Without the so-called hand force of an Inner Strength master, Amunst’s body directly shattered in an instant.
Like shattered glass, fragments flew away from Luo Qiu, transforming into specks of light, swirling around him.
The room brightened as though a galaxy and nebula were born, a streak of brilliance rising at the center.
This was all of Amunst, his thoughts, his will, his intentions, his sole mark in the world, his soul.
Luo Qiu lightly grasped the soul in his hand and simultaneously opened his left hand, producing a box. He placed Amunst’s soul inside.
Not a transactional item, no need for storage, nothing required, it simply needed to remain quietly in this box to avoid dispersing.
The box was transparent in the middle, constantly emitting an enchanting starlike glow.
Luo Qiu exhaled slowly, holding the box as he rose, the faint light gradually dispersed, returning the room to normal.
Meanwhile, those bodies destroyed but not yet dead zombies crawled on the ground toward Luo Qiu, releasing meaningless cries.
“Rest in peace, you all too.”
The zombies in the room shattered without blood or flesh, Luo Qiu suddenly glanced at the corner of the wall above the room and then slowly walked out of the place.
…
The screen embedded in the wall, at this moment, vividly reflected the eyes that had glanced this way.
“Did he… did he discover us?”
This was the innermost laboratory, the pure white room inside. Uncle Jin at this moment looked surprised, even somewhat frightened, uneasily turning to Tu Shenyi.
Undoubtedly, they had witnessed the entire process from Queen Elizabeth’s rage to Amunst’s final disappearance—the events within the Dungeon Maze visible through surveillance cameras installed at key locations.
Tu Shenyi indifferently watched another screen and calmly said, “If you were him, seeing cameras, would you not think of something?”
“I just…” Uncle Jin frowned slightly, then shook his head, hesitated, “I was just scared by that gaze… I can’t describe it, but I somehow felt a chilling sensation.”
Tu Shenyi coldly said, “He’s not looking at you, just do your work… where couldn’t he be found.”
Uncle Jin steadied himself, “You mean, Xitacil?”
Tu Shenyi replied, “Among these guys, the most easily dealt with is Takizawa, who appears to be the most cunning. The most difficult one should be Xitacil. He is a Dark Merchant and has many unclear ties with the Magician’s Association, his ancestors used to be the proprietors here… Too many uncertain factors.”
Suddenly, the sound of an alarm echoed within the room.
Uncle Jin was startled; he quickly picked up the remote control on the table, aimed it at one of the screens on the wall, and pressed the button.
What appeared on the screen was Xitacil!
He stood in front of a huge steel door, gripping a whip made of red light, swinging it repeatedly against the steel door blocking his way.
Each strike left a dent in the steel door, widening the crack in the door; it seemed that it wouldn’t take much longer for Xitacil to break through the door.
“How did he get here?!”
Uncle Jin was both shocked and furious… because he was still within the realm of ordinary humans, facing non-human power, as fragile as an ant to such might.
“You stay here; I’ll go meet him.” Tu Shenyi stood up immediately, pressing a button next to the table.
Suddenly, the table revealed a secret mechanism, and the ‘Forget Worry’ series placed on it quickly sank into the table — rather than a table, it was more like a platform.
Tu Shenyi briskly walked out of the room; once the door closed, Uncle Jin suddenly found his breathing a bit heavy and moved to the edge of the platform, feeling around.
But despite trying for a while, Uncle Jin still couldn’t open the mechanism of this platform… He frowned, then suddenly moved to the doorway, pressed his ear against the door, and listened quietly for a while.
It was then that Uncle Jin quickly took out a small bottle from his pocket. He opened the bottle and smeared the content onto his finger: it was a blood-red liquid… blood.
Uncle Jin used the blood-stained finger to touch the mechanism on the platform again, and with a noticeable click, the mechanism was triggered.
Uncle Jin was delighted, watching as containers holding various ‘Forget Worry’ series slowly rose up, his breathing gradually became rapid!
“I won’t simply trust your words…” Uncle Jin muttered to himself, “I still trust myself more.”
…
…
Bang—!
A zombie was sent flying back, unable to withstand Song Da’s Vajra Palm.
But simultaneously, more zombies lunged at Song Da, seemingly endless no matter how many were killed.
The temporary team of Song Da, Zhong Luoyue, and Natasha managed to evade one wave of zombies, but soon, they had the misfortune to encounter a new wave.
These zombies seemed to emerge from all directions, and their numbers were increasing… Some were so rotten they hardly resembled humans, yet they moved swiftly.
“Where are these things ing from?” Natasha exclaimed in terror, grabbing Zhong Luoyue’s arm.
The grip made Zhong Luoyue moan in pain, and Natasha quickly released her hands, “Sorry, did I hurt you?”
Zhong Luoyue shook her head, “It’s not your fault; it’s from a previous injury.”
The spot Natasha grabbed was just below the shoulder, which had been scratched during the fight with Lady Eve. But seeing Zhong Luoyue look pale and in pain, with cold sweat on her forehead, Natasha felt guilty and quickly inquired with concern.
Zhong Luoyue made a gesture for silence.
Though Song Da was keeping the zombies at bay, it imposed some limitations on him.
Zhong Luoyue said directly: “Don’t make a sound; don’t distract him. It’s dangerous. If something goes wrong with him, we’d be in even greater danger, so we absolutely can’t be burdens.”
Natasha quickly nodded, then covered her mouth firmly.
Zhong Luoyue gently squeezed her shoulder, gasping in pain, but clenched her teeth, forcing herself to suppress the cries of pain.
The number of zombies in this dungeon maze was unknown, and continuing like this wasn’t a solution… Song Da was sure to run out of energy eventually, and whether he’d still be able to protect them would be a significant test of human nature.
Zhong Luoyue herself began to worry, eyeing the continuously emerging zombies, suddenly having a strange thought.
The clothes on some of the initial zombies were torn, but they were identifiable as modern attire. However, this wave of zombies wore tattered leather armor, and their bodies were more severely deposed.
Could this wave be ancient humans turned zombies?
Lost in thought, Song Da suddenly shouted and leapt forward, slamming his palm down on a zombie’s head, shattering it instantly.
Song Da sighed, turning to say: “Let’s go!”
This wave of zombies was all defeated under Song Da’s palm, his body drenched in sweat, making his face soaking wet.
Natasha hurriedly grabbed a pack of tissues from her pocket, rushed to Song Da, and began wiping the sweat off his face.
The passage was stiflingly hot; not just Song Da, even Zhong Luoyue and Natasha were drenched in sweat.
Natasha’s light clothing clung to her skin when wet. In gratitude, she meticulously wiped Song Da’s sweat, her body nearly pressing against his.
The trouble was that Song Da noticed she seemed to be without a bra, her erect nipples brushing against his chest, causing Song Da to chant the Diamond Sutra in his mind.
Natasha also seemed to realize the awkwardness, but stopping would further the disfort, prompting her to quicken her movements, wiping swiftly.
Zhong Luoyue watched the two’s reactions without much thought or intention to intervene, taking the opportunity to recover her strength.
Just then, Zhong Luoyue suddenly felt a sharp pain in her neck.
From the darkness behind came a sudden face…
It was Lady Eve!!
Lady Eve’s fangs pletely pierced into Zhong Luoyue’s neck, “Finally found you, my beautiful child!”
Zhong Luoyue’s lips parted; she felt her body not only painless but also experiencing a strange pleasure, making her entire being sensitive.
She couldn’t help but release a moan that sounded both lamentful and faintly excited.
“Hmm… ah~~~”
